Patent number: 10093271Abstract: An airbag assembly may include an airbag and an inflator that provides inflation gas to inflate the airbag. A filter module may be positioned such that inflation gas exiting the inflator must first pass through the filter module. The filter module may be formed of a sheet of metal that is wrapped into a generally spiraling tubular shape. The filter module may have an inner layer, an intermediate layer, and an outer layer. The intermediate layer generally encircles the inner layer, and the outer layer generally encircles the inner layer and the intermediate layer in a spiraling fashion. The inner layer, the intermediate layer, and the outer layer each may have a pattern of holes and dimples that are separate from and/or displaced from each other. The dimples may protrude toward an adjacent layer to maintain spacing to enable relatively unrestricted gas flow from the holes of the inner layer through unaligned holes of the intermediate layer and the outer layer.Type: GrantFiled: August 24, 2016Date of Patent: October 9, 2018Assignee: Autoliv ASP, IncorporatedInventors: Marcus T. Patent number: 7413089Abstract: A replacement filter for conventional throw-away spin-on oil filter cartridge on an internal combustion engine. The replacement filter uses a porous metallic filter element, preferably a woven stainless steel, pleated filter element, within a housing physically simulating the conventional throw-away spin-on oil filter cartridge. The housing is disassembleable, typically by unscrewing the top cap of the housing, for removal, cleaning and reuse of the filter element. This avoids the problems of cost and availability of replacement filters and of disposal of used filters. Various embodiments are disclosed.Type: GrantFiled: December 4, 2003Date of Patent: August 19, 2008Assignee: Pure Power! IncorporatedInventor: Kelly Tidwell

Patent number: 6991673Abstract: A filter element comprises a pleated metal fiber fleece being pleated according to pleating lines providing an edge with pleat openings to be closed in order to make gas flowing through the metal fiber fleece. The filter element further comprises at least two flanks, each of these flanks comprising a stiff material layer. The stiff material layer and the metal fiber fleece are connected using a layer of ceramic adhesive, which prevents direct contact of the metal fiber fleece over the length of the edge of the metal fiber fleece with the flank. Meanwhile the flanks, being essentially perpendicular to the pleating lines, closing the pleat openings in order to prevent bypasses.Type: GrantFiled: January 31, 2002Date of Patent: January 31, 2006Assignee: N.V. Patent number: 6579458Abstract: A screening device includes a screening element connected to a reinforcing element by a frictionally engaging clamping connection. Spacers located between the screening element and the reinforcing element provide a radial clearance therebetween. The screening element can be replaced when worn out, while the reinforcing element and associated parts can be reused with a new screening device. For this purpose, the screening element can be detached from the reinforcing element, which provides the actual support function, as a single unit by way of the frictionally engaging clamping connection. The clamping connection can be implemented by way of wedges or a conical seat.Type: GrantFiled: March 14, 2001Date of Patent: June 17, 2003Assignee: Heinrich Fiedler GmbH & Co. Patent number: 6355082Abstract: It is a metal filter 1 including a fine filtering layer 3 and a supporting member 2 sintered to be porous and having a covering surface 4 to integrate the fine filtering layer 3 into a laminate to maintain its shape. The average pore diameter of the fine filtering layer 3 is set to be smaller than an average pore diameter of the supporting member 2. The covering surface 4 is formed in an uneven shape so as to allow a filtering surface of the fine filtering layer 3 to be an undulating filtering surface 3A such that the area ratio S1/S0 of its real filtration area S1 to the standard filtration area S0 of the case where it is not formed in an uneven shape, is larger than or equal to 1.3. The average thickness of the fine filtering layer 3 at valley portions 6 of the uneven shape is set to be larger than the average thickness of the fine filtering layer 3 at the crest portions 5 of the uneven shape, and the undulating filtering surface 3A is formed in a smoothly curved surface shape.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2000Date of Patent: March 12, 2002Assignee: Nippon Seisen Co., Ltd.Inventor: Hideomi Ishibe

Patent number: RE39940Abstract: The screen cylinder includes a screening plate having contoured grooves along an inflow side and a backing cylinder having a plurality of openings therethrough and disposed on the outflow side of the screening cylinder. The contoured grooves are elongated in the axial direction and are closely circumferentially spaced one from the other about the screen cylinder. In one embodiment, circumferentially extending grooves are formed along the outflow side of the screening cylinder whereby pulp flows through the contoured grooves into the recesses and then through the openings of the backing cylinder. In another embodiment, the recesses are formed on the inflow side of the backing cylinder, the screening cylinder being provided with elongated slots along its outflow side in registry with the contoured slots. In this manner, increased flow capacity is provided. Additionally, the screening cylinder is removable when worn for replacement by a fresh screening cylinder which may then be secured to the backing cylinder.Type: GrantFiled: September 12, 2003Date of Patent: December 18, 2007Assignee: Advanced Fiber Technologies (AFT) TrustInventors: Frey Å.
