Patent number: 6761271Abstract: A wash bucket screen has a slanting platform supported on a frustum skirt. The platform has a plurality of holes interspersed between raised ridges on the platform running radially generally toward its perimeter as an aid in releasing water from a cloth squeezed against the platform. To effectively prevent backsplash from the bucket bottom back through the screen, the holes taper from a diameter sized to readily collect water on the platform top to a smaller hole diameter on the platform bottom. The skirt includes a flange on its distal end that engages the bucket wall. To accommodate a frustum bucket with changing wall diameter, the skirt flexes resiliently with the flange engaging the bucket wall and the skirt flexing inward as the screen is inserted in a bucket with decreasing diameter. To allow movement of the skirt, a plurality of slits extend vertically, opening at the skirt distal end, providing an effective splash shield between the skirt and the bucket wall.Type: GrantFiled: June 25, 2001Date of Patent: July 13, 2004Inventor: Lynn J. Publication number: 20020096470Abstract: A method of repairing or refurbishing a filter screen is described. The type of screen is defined in the specification. The repair or refurbishment is effected by stripping worn or damaged wirecloth from the surface of the frame and placing fresh cloth over the frame and tensioning it as appropriate. Heat is then applied so as to soften surfaces of the frame over which wirecloth is stretched, so that the latter can penetrate softened plastics material in the surfaces and become embedded therein. The frame and its associated fresh cloth is allowed to cool, after which the applied tensioning is removed. Exposed edges of the wirecloth can be trimmed back to the surrounding flange. Plastics material may be applied to the surface of the frame which is to receive the new wirecloth, before the latter is fitted, to provide additional plastics material for bonding the wirecloth to the frame.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2002Publication date: July 25, 2002Inventors: Gordon James Cook, Andrew Hughes, Arthur Robert Bailey, George Charles Hartnup, Dugald Stewart

Patent number: 5897776Abstract: An air filter has a filter media with a central portion and a boundary portion, the central portion having a greater density of filter area than the boundary portion. In one embodiment, this is accomplish by having more pleats in the central portion than the boundary portion and, in another embodiment, this is accomplished by having higher pleat amplitudes in the central portion than in the boundary portion.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 1997Date of Patent: April 27, 1999Assignee: Dana CorporationInventor: Michael R. Patent number: 5873999Abstract: A sieving screen or filtration screen, and processes for producing the same, featuring the use of a flexible, chemical resistant, intermittent, polymeric coating as an edging material and/or for providing indicia for identification purposes to show, for example, the source of the product, producer's or customer's logos, trade names, part numbers, indications and precautions for use, and any other forms of instruction and/or information, as well as providing an intermittent or discontinuous coating to allow for electrical grounding with a conventional filter clamp or the like. Screen printing is one preferred method for applying the polymeric matter to the sieve or filter screen.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 1997Date of Patent: February 23, 1999Assignee: Sefar America Inc.Inventor: Richard M. Patent number: 5849187Abstract: A filter element including a filtration part and a mounting frame retaining the filtration part therein. The frame is formed by a profile with a center part and two border parts. The filtration part is retained between the border parts. The border parts are positioned in generally parallel relation to each other. A strip of material is firmly fixed to the border parts such that one end of the strip is fixed to one of the border parts and an opposite end is affixed to the other of the two border parts. The strip is in generally parallel relation to the center part.Type: GrantFiled: June 22, 1995Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Inventor: Leendert Plaisier

Patent number: 5824232Abstract: A filter including a first flow path having a plurality of interconnected channels and a second flow path having a plurality of interconnected channels. The channels of the first and second flow paths are alternatingly configured in a substantially concentric pattern. A filter media is interposed between the channels of the first and second flow paths. A filter including a filter media arranged in a plurality of substantially concentric layers; a fluid outflow system contacting the entirety of one side of the filter media, and a fluid inflow system contacting the entirety of an opposite side of the filter media.Type: GrantFiled: April 15, 1996Date of Patent: October 20, 1998Assignee: Filtration Technologies CorporationInventors: Thomas L. Patent number: 5820756Abstract: Filter apparatus for filtering contaminants from a fluid, such as machine tool coolant, are disclosed. One filter apparatus includes a filter drum unit having a generally cylindrical open perforated support sheet with a cylindrical screen element mounted thereabout. Circumference varying mechanisms, such as turnbuckles, are connected relative to the support plate to vary the circumference of the support plate and the tautness of the screen element. A disc filter assembly having a mandrel and fluidly attached annular disc filter elements is also described. Each annular disc filter element has an inner structure with concentric ribs forming concentric grooves therebetween which are connected to radially extending grooves. A screen element is supported by the ribs so that the microscreen will not tear while allowing filtering of fluid into the grooves which are in fluid communication with the mandrel.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 1997Date of Patent: October 13, 1998Inventors: Stephen N.
