A mold for manufacturing the septic tank is also provided.

    Abstract: A source of sewage is coupled to a septic tank by an influent line. The outlet line is coupled to a sewage treatment plant by an outlet line. Sewage travels from the source to the septic tank where solid matter is filtered. Liquid matter passes through the septic tank into the outlet line where it transported to the sewage treatment plant to be treated. The outlet line may consist of an indefinite number of intermediary lines and valves, such as an effluent line adjacent to the septic tank, a distribution line adjacent to the sewage treatment plant, and a valve disposed in between the effluent line and the distribution line. The valve may be coupled to a leach field so that liquid matter traveling from the effluent line to the valve may be directed either to the leach field or the distribution line leading to the sewage treatment plant.

Through the perforations, the water flows into an exterior discharge pipe surrounding the interior discharge pipe, the exterior discharge pipe also having a plurality of perforations. The exterior discharge pipe is surrounded by a layer of wicking material. A volume of fill material surrounds the interior discharge pipe, the exterior discharge pipe, and the layer of wicking material, thereby dispersing the water therefrom.

    Abstract: A vadose zone for a leaching field which enables the construction of a leaching field in terrain where conventional leaching fields cannot be constructed. Such terrain also comprise areas where a high water table exists or where percolation tests fail. The vadose zone is constructed adjacent to the leaching field which is buried in a layer of soil which has been constructed over a nonporous barrier such as a plastic sheet or ledge or clay. The effluent from the leaching field is forced to move sideways out of the leaching field into the adjacent soil. The adjacent soil becomes a vadose zone to complete treating the effluent. The effluent is forced to flow through a prescribed predetermined distance through the vadose zone before it is permitted to disperse through the soil toward the water table or over the clay or ledge.

    Abstract: The Three Stage Sewage Treatment Plant is an uniquely designed three stage sewage waste water cleaning device for use in homes and other buildings which are not attached to municipal sewer systems. It employs both aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms to break down sewage, in addition to gravity separation of solids from the effluent. The cleaning process is centered around a cylindrical aerobic tank which is divided into an inner and an outer chamber by a funnel shaped clarifier. In the outer chamber of the aerobic tank, air droplines aerate the sewage, promoting the aerobic microorganisms that break down the sewage, and create turbulence. In the inner chamber, the sewage is gravity separated, such that solid particles are extracted from a cleaned effluent. The device is comprised of a pre-treatment tank, which screens out solid particles and allows for the preliminary anaerobic cleaning process, and a post-treatment tank, where the effluent is chlorinated and stored, in addition to the aerobic tank.

    Abstract: A two-piece filtering device for wastewater filtering systems is disclosed wherein the two-piece system is inserted into a tubular casing. The two-piece filtering system is comprised of an outer sleeve filter and an inner primary filter, the primary filter extending downwardly through an opening in the bottom portion of the sleeve filter and also having an opening formed in its end. After insertion into the tubular casing, the two-piece filtering system of the present invention forces effluent or other fluid to be treated upward through the interior of the primary filter, through slots formed in and subsequently through the sidewall of the sleeve filter. Thus, only treated effluent flows outward through the tubular casing outlet opening. The slots may be formed in both the sidewall of the primary filter and the sleeve filter. A seal may be provided between sidewall lower portion of the primary filter and may extend to the internal sidewall of the tubular casing to prevent untreated effluent therebetween.

When the filtrate reaches a certain predetermined level within the dosing vault, the drip pump is enabled and turned “on”. In this manner, the filtrate is dosed or dripped into a drain absorption field without mixing with the septic effluent.

The UV lamp is housed in a quartz tube, or in an alternative embodiment, in a Teflon tube, and placed in a cylindrical insert having a plurality of ports defined in the walls of the cylinder. The insert is placed in a vertically oriented leg of the U-shaped piping at the water outlet, the wastewater flowing through the insert parallel to the ultraviolet lamp. Access to the UV lamp for maintenance is provided by a vertically oriented riser pipe buried in the ground and having a length corresponding to the desired depth of the apparatus, the riser housing the electrical wiring and having a cap at ground level.

In one preferred embodiment, the tank is made in two unequal halves. The lower half comprises the major portion of the tank and includes a bottom, two endwalls and two sidewalls. The upper half comprises a cover. This arrangement allows the horizontal seam to be placed above the internal waterline, thereby protecting the seam from exposure to sewage. At least one of the endwalls includes a raised top portion that allows a pipe to be located near the top of the lower portion without passing through the seam between the upper and lower portions of the tank. The endwalls are also curved to allow for angled inlet and outlet pipe connections. The ribs are preferably internal and hollow. The lower portion of the tank is also preferably flat bottomed. A provision has been made for a self-locating baffle if required.

An indicator is attached to the cap for indicating a height of the base end of the probe above the bottom of the septic tank thereby indicating sludge depth in the tank.

    Abstract: A system is described for improving separation of sewage containing wastewater, oleaginous materials and solids. The system includes a tank 10 having a first chamber 12 and a second chamber 14. In the first chamber oleaginous materials rise to an upper portion thereof and a grinder pump 30 grinds the solids that descend toward the bottom of the first chamber. The second chamber in communication with the first chamber delivers the sewage to a discharge line 24 in communication with a transport line that leads to a downstream sewage treatment plant. A conduit 32 conducts the slurry of the ground solids from the first chamber to the discharge line. A pressure relief line 40 running from the conduit releases the head pressure into the first chamber.     Abstract: A laminar flow collar for use with an effluent pump in a septic system. The laminar flow collar is a cylinder having a closed bottom and an open top portion. The laminar flow collar includes a plurality of holes drilled about the periphery of the cylinder at a certain distance from the bottom. The laminar flow collar sits on the bottom of the tank and the plurality of holes are positioned at a certain height from the bottom of the septic tank and below the surface of the effluent so as not to draw in “scum” floating on the top of the septic tank. The plurality of holes are engineered to match the pump flow so that flow into the collar is laminar, thereby avoiding turbulence in the tank which would otherwise stir up the sludge at the bottom of the tank. The effluent pump is inserted into a second cylinder which is placed within the laminar flow collar.

The thus filtered effluent is recycled a plurality of times through the same filter canister, further to cleanse the effluent. A small portion of the recycling effluent is directed outward into a drip irrigation system. A second filter canister, not in line with the first canister, also receives some of the recycling, filtered effluent, for plural recycles therethrough, to enhance the filtering process, at the same time that other of the filtered effluent is being recycled through the first filter canister. The filtered effluent from the two canisters are permitted to combine prior to subsequent recycling.

    Abstract: A system for pumping effluent out of a septic tank contains an electric pump unit disposed coaxially within a tube. A rotary self-cleaning strainer has a cylindrical filter screen that filters certain solid material from the effluent flow through the tube upstream of the pump inlet port. Effluent is conveyed out of the septic tank through a pipe connected to the pump outlet port. A portion of the pumped effluent is conveyed to one or more nozzles arranged to wash the filter screen. In certain embodiments, the cylindrical screen is stationary and the nozzles rotate, while in other embodiments, the nozzles are stationary and the screen rotates. Depending on particular embodiment, the nozzles may be either inside or outside the screen. Effluent flow through the screen is opposite the direction of spray from the nozzles.

    Abstract: The Three Stage Sewage Treatment System (“TSSTS”) processes sewage for buildings not connected to a municipal sewer system. It employs a three stage process for cleaning sewage in a single, light-weight, easy-to-install unit. Sewage is initially cleaned anaerobically in the pre-treatment tank as gravity acts to separate solids from the effluent. Sewage then flows into the aerobic tank for further cleaning by aerobic microorganisms and continued gravity separation of solid contaminants from the effluent. The aerobic tank is divided into an inner chamber and an outer chamber by a funnel-shaped clarifier. In the TSSTS, the clarifier is a separate piece with a lip around the top of the funnel-shaped main body. The lip of the clarifier rests atop the sidewalls of the aerobic tank, and the clarifier hangs down in the aerobic tank, with an opening in the bottom of the clarifier held above the bottom of the aerobic tank.

    Abstract: A sub-soil wastewater treatment vessel, especially for wastewater produced by single family residences and small businesses and the like. The vessel is divided into at least three contiguous chambers by at least two transverse walls, forming at least two contiguous aeration chambers and a clarifier chamber. Wastewater flows into the first aeration chamber via an influent line, thence through an opening in the first transverse wall into the second aeration chamber. From there, wastewater flows through passages at the bottom of the second transverse wall into the clarifier chamber. Air is supplied to the first and second aeration chambers via low pressure diffuser lines. Three inclined surfaces within the clarifier chamber direct solids through passages in the second transverse wall back into the second aeration chamber for further processing. An effluent line connected to the clarifier chamber permits wastewater outflow.

The second housing rests on the supports above the inner surface of the bottom wall. The second housing has a second inlet port located generally adjacent to the first inlet port. The second housing has an upper chamber and lower chamber.
