Patent number: 11891320Abstract: Large sealed anaerobic digestor ponds with thin rubber membrane covers to absorb sunlight efficiently in selective sunlight absorption coating and low emissivity in infrared and transparent insulation layers. Flow of pond byproduct gas and heat transfer to circulate slurry liquid controlled by pressurization and weighting of gas collection cover membrane to provide sloped buoyant bubble gas flow gas collection channels in deformed membrane. Low gas pressure used between layers to increase heat transfer to digesting slurry when low wind and prevent wind lift-off with high winds. High gas pressure used between membrane layers to remove sloped collection channels, permit thickened foam over digesting slurry and reduce heat transfer at night. These large-scale solar heating digesting ponds can maintain sufficient digestion temperature to accelerate digestion, maximize gas production efficiency, and minimize greenhouse gas emissions.Type: GrantFiled: November 15, 2021Date of Patent: February 6, 2024Assignee: TUCUMCARI BIO-ENERGY CORPORATIONInventor: Robert G. Patent number: 11884565Abstract: There is a process for the production of a liquid fuel and of a gaseous fuel from biomass. The biomass is sent to a pre-treatment section to form a homogeneous phase that can be moved and/or pumped, wherein inert parts are separated from the biomass and the biomass shredded and/or ground to reduce its size. The homogeneous phase obtained is then subjected to subcritical hydrothermal liquefaction at a temperature between 240° C. and 310° C. to form a liquefied phase. The liquefied phase is separated. After separation, the process continues in two alternative and mutually exclusive modes. In the first mode, the first aqueous phase is subjected to an anaerobic reaction with multiple stages producing biogas; the oily phase is separated into a bio-oil and a solid residue. In the second mode, the separate mixed phase is separated by density or dynamics forming a first aqueous phase, bio-oil and a gaseous phase.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2019Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: ENI S.P.A.Inventors: Roberta Miglio, Roberto Paglino, Cristian Torri, Alisar Kiwan, Daniele Fabbri

Patent number: 11746030Abstract: Aerobic granular sludge (AGS) is an energy efficient and compact biological wastewater treatment process. There is only one commercially available AGS technology which utilizes sequencing batch reactors (SBR). Many existing wastewater treatment facilities consist of long, continuous flow reactors that would not be readily suitable for retrofit to SBR. Therefore, a continuous flow process is preferred for municipalities that cannot economically invest in the only commercially available SBR technology (i.e., Nere-da®). Lab- and pilot-scale experimentation has demonstrated that stable granulation can be achieved in a continuous flow configuration GT suitable for retrofit into existing infrastructure. An anoxic/anaerobic/aerobic configuration can be designed and stably operated for conversion of flocculent biomass to AGS Preliminary pilot-scale results on primary effluent from a municipal wastewater treatment facility indicated that granules of 0.2-0.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2019Date of Patent: September 5, 2023Assignee: University of ManitobaInventors: Tanner R. Patent number: 11332400Abstract: It discloses to a device and a method for controlling pollutants in metal mine water resources cycling utilization. The device includes a multi-stage inflow constructed wetland (3), in which one or more layers of the filler are laid, and water distribution pipes (4) are buried at different height levels in the filler layers for multi-stage inflow, so that the received basin water is allowed to flow through each layer of the filler to degrade or remove the pollutants. In the multi-stage inflow constructed wetland, the types of fillers, dosage ratio, particle size and filling height of fillers in each layer are specifically selected. Therefore, heavy metal adsorption, suspended matter filtration, organic matter degradation, dephosphorization and denitrification can be effectively realized in the multi-stage inflow constructed wetland.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2018Date of Patent: May 17, 2022Assignee: CHINESE RESEARCH ACADEMY OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCESInventors: Beidou Xi, Lei Wang, Yalei Zhang, Jinsheng Wang, Ming Chang, Yangyang Wang, Wenbing Tan, Tongtong Li, Hui Liu, Yali Zhang, Feng Wu

Patent number: 11325057Abstract: The trap includes a container with a top opening covered by a lid. Inlet and outflow pipes extend through the lid into the container. A sheet of mesh filtration material (fiberglass, foam etc.) is situated within the container, below and preferably bonded to the interior surface of the lid. The inlet and outflow pipes extend through the filtration sheet into the container such that as the water level rises, sediment from the water flowing through the container settles to the bottom of the container and floating particles on the surface of the water which would otherwise be carried out of the trap with the water as the water exits the container remain in the filtration sheet.Type: GrantFiled: September 28, 2020Date of Patent: May 10, 2022Inventor: Donald Nevin

Patent number: 11308603Abstract: Monitoring of an environmental location to detect waste disposal includes receiving, by a computer, a collection of images from aerial data acquisition sources, the collection of images corresponding to the environmental location and the waste disposed in the environmental location. The collection of images are processed by the computer to extract properties of the waste and first properties of the environmental location. Subsequently, the properties of the waste disposed in the environmental location are classified according to a class. Additional information from external data sources including second properties of the environmental location is received by the computer. The computer determines a behavior of waste disposal in the environmental location over a period of time based on the classified properties of the disposed waste and the first and second properties of the environmental location, and generated a remediation plan based on the determined behavior.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 2020Date of Patent: April 19, 2022Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Na Liu, Mei Rui Su, Pei Jian Liu, Bing Hua Zhao, Yan Liu, Zhong Fang Yuan, Wen Wang

Patent number: 11286507Abstract: An anaerobic digester is fed a feedstock, for example sludge from a municipal wastewater treatment plant, and produces a digestate. The digestate is dewatered into a cake. The cake may be dried further, for example in a thermal drier. The cake is treated in a pyrolysis system to produce a synthesis gas and biochar. The gas is sent to the same or another digester to increase its methane production. The char may be used as a soil enhancer.Type: GrantFiled: July 11, 2014Date of Patent: March 29, 2022Assignee: ANAERGIA INC.Inventors: Juan Carlos Josse, Andrew Benedek, Michael David Theodoulou
