  • Publication number: 20140299550
Abstract: A method and apparatus for treating water including a tank having an inlet and outlet and a water treatment material or resin within the tank. A control valve assembly having multiple, separable levels houses a water usage metering mechanism and a regeneration control mechanism, each having associated turbines. An inlet/bypass valve communicates source water with the tank inlet or directly to a system outlet. When the treatment material is exhausted, it is regenerated by actuating the bypass valve to communicate the source water with the system outlet. The turbine driven regeneration control then sequences the steps of regeneration, including opening a control valve to communicate inlet water to a venturi in order to aspirate brine solution and deliver to the tank outlet. The brine solution passes through the treatment material and is discharged through the tank inlet which is communicated to a system drain.

Abstract: A swimming pool skimmer formed to include an integral disinfectant dispenser. The disinfectant dispenser is adapted to enable infinite adjustment to the level of disinfectant dispensed into the normal flow of the pool water. The skimmer includes a valve that is used to adjust the flow of water distributed to the disinfectant dispenser. The flow rate of water entering the dispensing chamber is controlled by the valve, which controls the water level within the dispensing chamber. The amount of water exiting the dispensing chamber is controlled by a vertically extending elongated flow slit. The higher the water level in the dispensing chamber causes more exposure to the chlorine tablets, increasing the chlorine level in the dispensing water. Chlorinated water exits the flow slit and enters the skimmer main chamber.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a device for purifying liquid effluents, in which water is separated from substances by performing, in a single vertical enclosure (3), a vertical bubbling in the effluents fed at a flow rate d. The enclosure has a free surface and includes at least two compartments (4, 5, 6, 7) communicating together for enabling a circulation between the compartments successively from the top to the bottom and from the bottom to the top between the lower portion thereof and a medium level at a flow rate D at least three times higher than the flow rate d. The supernatant phase is continuously discharged and a hydraulic or gaseous chemical oxidation of said effluents is simultaneously carried out in the same enclosure, the chemical oxidation rate and the bubble flow rate and size being selected in order to progressively obtain a separation of the solid/liquid and liquid/liquid phases at the surface of the enclosure for obtaining a COD below a predetermined threshold.

Abstract: Drinkers for animals are usually configured as having a single elongate pipe string (24) in which a plurality of drinking valves are screwed in. The drinking valves (20) can operated by the animals themselves to cover their water needs. When no water is being removed by the animals at the drinking valves (20) the water in the pipe string (24) stands still. This has a negative impact on water quality, particularly in warmer climates, leading to a sharp increase of germs in the water, for example. This can result in diseases among the animals. The invention proposes the circulation of the water in the animal drinker. To this end, the animal drinker has two parallel pipe strings (23, 24) which form a water circuit ensuring a constant movement of water, namely that water flows continuously through the pipe strings (23, 24) even when no water has been removed at the drinking valves (20) over an extended period of time.

Abstract: A multipurpose hemofiltration system and method are disclosed for the removal of fluid and/or soluble waste from the blood of a patient. The system continuously monitors the flow rates of drained fluid, blood, and infusate. When necessary, the pumping rates of the infusate, drained fluid and blood are adjusted to remove a preselected amount of fluid from the blood in a preselected time period. A supervisory controller can monitor patient parameters, such as heart rate and blood pressure, and adjust the pumping rates accordingly. The supervisory controller uses fuzzy logic to make expert decisions, based upon a set of supervisory rules, to control each pumping rate to achieve a desired flow rate and to respond to fault conditions. An adaptive controller corrects temporal variations in the flow rate based upon an adaptive law and a control law.
