After the trays have reached the rear of the display case, they are lowered and then moved forwardly below the support surface until they reach the front of the display case where they are lifted onto the support surface and moved rearwardly again. The trays are connected to spaced and parallel continuous chains each extending between a pair of rotatably mounted sprockets adjacent the trays.
