  • Patent number: 10317958
Abstract: The embodiments herein describe a computing device (e.g., a storage server) that includes at least one telescoping unit which includes a plurality of removable (or pluggable) hardware components. The computing device includes a chassis which defines a form factor of the computing device. The telescoping unit, when prompted by the user, can extend vertically from a top surface of the computing device. By doing so, the pluggable hardware components are then exposed to the user who can add or replace the components. In one embodiment, the telescoping unit includes telescoping links disposed on opposite sides which are used to guide or urge the telescoping unit vertically from the chassis. Cross links may be coupled between first and second rails where one end of each of the links is coupled to a sliding member in the rail while the other end is fixably attached to the rail.

  • Patent number: 10302885
Abstract: A fiber terminal rack mount with front-to-back fiber routing management is disclosed herein. The terminal rack mount is configured to be mounted in a remote terminal to facilitate fiber management of fiber optic cables routed from fiber optic equipment. In exemplary aspects disclosed herein, the fiber terminal rack mount comprises two vertically oriented panels with a plurality of horizontally oriented shelves positioned therebetween. The panels are configured to mount to vertical rails of a remote terminal cabinet of the fiber terminal. The panels and shelves also define routing channels for routing fiber optic cables therethrough, thereby facilitating front-to-back fiber routing between fiber optic equipment mounted in the fiber terminal. In this manner, as an example, the fiber terminal rack mount may more easily support fiber routing between back-to-back mounted fiber optic equipment, which may increase as fiber optic connectivity density increases.

Abstract: A connecting apparatus is for connecting a first component to a second component in an interlocking manner. The first component includes a flexible limb having a latching lug which can latch with a projection on the second component in order to connect the first component to the second component in a releasable manner without using a tool. For the purpose of connection in a releasable manner without using a tool, the flexible limb runs in a guide of the second component, which guide allows the flexible limb only to move in the direction which is prespecified by the guide, and the latching lug and the projection are at a distance from one another in the state in which said components are connected in an interlocking manner. An electrical switch is also disclosed, including the connecting apparatus; a side wall; and a pole cassette.

Abstract: A bracket device includes a bracket, at least one mounting member mounted on the bracket, a locking member movable with respect to the bracket, and a fool-proofing member to be located at a first position or a second position with respect to the bracket. When the bracket is at a first mounting angle, the fool-proofing member is located at the first position and is unable to block the locking member from moving with respect to the bracket. When the bracket is flipped from the first mounting angle to a second mounting angle, the fool-proofing member is displaced from the first position to the second position and ends up blocking the moving path of the locking member with respect to the bracket.

Abstract: A cable management apparatus that limits the degree of travel of a FRU (e.g., server, other computing device, power supply, etc.) out of a storage rack to an amount just necessary to service one or more particular components of the FRU (e.g., fan bay, etc.) free of having to power down the FRU which provides a more cost effective maintenance strategy for users. As a result, the disclosed cable management apparatus advantageously allows for the use of shorter cables between the FRU and other devices (e.g., other FRUs, switches, power supplies, etc.), improved airflow through the FRUs and the storage rack, reduced complexity of the cable management apparatus, simplified installation and manipulation of the apparatus, and the like.

  • Patent number: 9699932
Abstract: The invention pertains to a system for mounting components to a rack comprising brackets that can be mounted to the rear of the rack through the opening in the front of rack before the component is inserted into the slot and mating sleeves running along the sides of the components. The brackets include arms that extend forwardly towards the front of the slot. After the brackets are attached, the component can be slid into the slot from the front with the sleeves sliding over and engaging the brackets. In this manner, the component can be slid into a slot on the rack with the brackets sliding into the sleeves, thereby providing support for the component along a substantial portion of the depth of the component without the need to bolt or otherwise fixedly attach the component to the bracket after the component is in the rack. Accordingly, a component can be installed in a rack without the need for any access except from the front of the rack.
