Abstract: A trigger sprayer for connection to a container or liquid product which is to be dispensed is disclosed. The trigger sprayer includes a trigger body with a first engagement member and a nozzle with a second engagement member. The first engagement member is constructed and arranged to receive the second engagement member. The second engagement member is moveable relative to the first engagement member between a first position and a second position. Movement of the second engagement member relative to the first engagement member between the first and second positions encounters a region of increased resistance.

Abstract: A container (20) includes a body (22) defining an interior and an opening (32) that leads to the interior. A cap (24) is removably affixed over the opening and is movable between a closed position and an opened position. The cap includes a front tab (52) having an undersurface (54). A child resistant closure in the form of a guard (56) having a depressible wall (58) is located on the body and is movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position. When in the engaged position the guard covers the undersurface of the front tab to prevent the cap from being moved to the opened position. When in the disengaged position the undersurface of the front tab is exposed, enabling the cap to be moved to the opened position.

Abstract: In one embodiment there is provided a bottle and cap package configuration designed to hold a solid substance and provide an escape path for a scent of the substance. The cap has an internal surface with a mid-section projection to cooperatively rest on an upper ledge of the bottle neck. At least one raised pad is positioned between the upper ledge of the bottle and the underneath side surface of the mid-section projection such that when the cap is positioned on the neck of the bottle, the at least one raised pad creates a ventilation gap permitting a scent of a substance contained in the well of the bottle an escape path between the upper ledge of the bottle and the underneath side surface of the mid-section projection and then around the threads to under the bottom surface edge of the cap.

Abstract: A closure system includes a container and a closure. The container including a rim extending perpendicular to the side wall, the rim including a locking lug extending from an upper surface of the rim and a break disposed in the rim adjacent to the locking tab, the break operable to form a deflectable locking portion of the rim. The closure including a side wall, a flange extending perpendicular to the side wall, and a locking lug disposed within the flange for engaging the corresponding locking lug of the container. The flange may include a gap portion disposed adjacent to the locking lug for allowing a user to deflect the deflectable locking portion of the container through the gap portion in the flange to disengage the locking lug of the container from the locking lug of the closure.

The container including a rim extending perpendicular to the side wall, the rim including a locking lug extending from an upper surface of the rim and a break disposed in the rim adjacent to the locking tab, the break operable to form a deflectable locking portion of the rim. The closure including a side wall, a flange extending perpendicular to the side wall, and a locking lug disposed within the flange for engaging the corresponding locking lug of the container. The flange substantially covers the upper surface of the rim of the container and includes a gap portion disposed adjacent to the locking lug for allowing a user to deflect the deflectable locking portion of the container through the gap portion in the flange to disengage the locking lug of the container from the locking lug of the closure.

The package includes a container base having a defined interior volume for retaining a quantity of consumable goods and an open top end for dispensing the goods. A lid is formed to overlap with the top end of the base. The lid defines a portion volume that is less than the retaining volume of the base. Structures are provided for retaining the lid on and releasing the lid from the top end of the base.

Abstract: A container which includes a base (12) that can hold food and a lid (14) that closes on the base, which clearly indicates if the lid has been opened after a clerk loaded food into the base and closed the lid. The base and lid each have trapping portions (20, 22) and pull-open portions (24, 32) with a tear-tab, or tear-open barrier (80). To close the lid, a clerk projects a tab (30) on the pull-open portion of the lid through a slot (26) in the pull-open portion of the base, and then presses down the entire trapping portion of the lid into the trapping portion of the base. The lid cannot be lifted up because the tear-open barrier (80) forming the top wall of the slot lies over the tab. To open the container, a person must tear the barrier so he/she can pull up the tab 30 and open the lid. The fact that the barrier has been torn is obvious.

The snake repellent system consists of a receptacle into which is placed a quantity of garlic or onion, the aroma of which is believed to be effective in repelling snakes. The receptacle is provided with a lid having a plurality of openings for facilitating the dispersal of the garlic or onion aroma. The receptacle may be provided with a mincing rack used to mince a clove of garlic, thereby more fully releasing its aroma. The receptacle may also be provided with a means to both limit child access to the repellent substance within the receptacle and prevent removal of the repellent substance from the lid openings. An adjustable band is provided for attaching the receptacle to the arm or leg of the user.

Abstract: A child resistant adult friendly container and closure device is provided with a pivot arm on the container which engages a detent on the closure. The pivot arm carries on one end a press tab and on an opposite end a locking lug. The locking lug engages with the detent to prevent the closure from being rotated in an opening direction. To open the closure, the press tab is manually depressed, causing the pivot arm to pivot about a point on the container such that the locking lug disengages from the detent on the closure. The closure can thus be unscrewed in a opening direction to obtain the contents of the container.

Abstract: A child-resistant, tamper indicating closure according to the present invention includes a closure top having an outer edge. An annular skirt depends from the outer edge of the closure top, the skirt having a plurality of internal splines located on an inner surface. A tamper indicating band is connected to the skirt, for example, along a frangible line, the tamper indicating band having a plurality of external splines located on an outer surface. The internal and external splines may cooperate with a locking mechanism disposed on the container so that when a tab of the locking mechanism is not depressed, an inner locking member contacts an internal spline to lock the closure in place. When the tab is depressed, the inner locking members are free to rotate, but outer locking member contacts an external spline, so that if the closure is rotated, for example, in the counter-clockwise direction, the tamper indicating band separates from the skirt along a frangible line.

The container has an open mouth surrounded by a cylindrical neck wall having internal threads and an open upper edge. The closure is a cap/dispensing cup type and has a skirt with external threads for threaded receipt within the container neck wall. A circumferentially continuous flange projects outwardly from the skirt and has a conical portion for cam engaging, trapping and sealing with the open upper edge of the neck wall as the closure is threaded into this wall. The closure skirt also has a circumferentially continuous plug-type sealing surface that extends radially outwardly from the skirt between the trapping flange and closure external threads for interference sealing engagement with the neck wall, as the closure is threaded thereinto.

Abstract: A safety closure is provided for threadingly engaging a neck portion of a container. The safety closure includes a cap portion and a tamper-indicating band connected to a lower end of a peripheral side wall of the cap portion by a plurality of frangible bridge segments. A cap lug projects downwardly from an outer surface of the cap portion and is sized to engage a band lug projecting upwardly from an outer surface of the tamper-indicating band. At least one bead segment projects inwardly from an inner surface of the tamper-indicating band and is sized to engage a continuous bead projecting outwardly from an outer surface of the container neck portion to prevent removal of the tamper-indicating band therefrom upon a first application thereto.

Abstract: A child resistant closure apparatus is provided that is easily opened by the aged and infirm. The child resistant closure apparatus has a container having a push-tab locking device that locks into place in a series of sawtooth projections on an inner surface of a closure. The closure is rotatably screwed onto the container whereby the push-tab locking device locks into one sawtooth projection. Screwing torque in the direction which would disengage the closure from the container is not possible unless the push-tab locking device is manipulated so that an end of a flexible arm is removed from the sawtooth projection.

Abstract: A child resistant package which includes a container having an open end and single or multiple threads on the external surface of the container adjacent the upper end. A closure having a base wall and a peripheral skirt has an inner surface formed with single or multiple threads corresponding in number to the multiple threads on the container for engaging the threads on the container. A deflectable release element is formed integrally on the container. The release element includes an integral axially deflectable lug extending upwardly toward the open end of the container. The closure has at least one locking lug on the skirt of the closure, the number of locking lugs preferably corresponding to the number of threads on the container and closure.

Abstract: The closure cap for sealing a container has an inner skirt shaped and sized to fit externally and to be secured onto the neck of the container. The cap also has an outer skirt projecting from the inner skirt. This outer skirt extends over the inner skirt at a given distance from same, thereby defining a gap there between. The outer skirt is made of a material that is resiliently flexible and can be deformed when an external pressure is applied onto its external surface. The cap further has a foldable cover shaped and sized to close the neck of the container. This cover has a peripheral edge attached to the outer skirt by a hinge. A snap having one part integral to the upper portion of the other skirt and another part integral to the cover is provided for releasably locking the cover in a closed position when it is folded down over the neck of the container.

Abstract: Package with safety lid and seal including a cylindrical body with a lid coupled by a thread at the mouth thereof and which includes an outside coaxial skirt having projections on its inside face. It is characterized in that the package body comprises around the body a seal made up with a strap weakly joined to this body, this strap having on the periphery, at least, one recess into which the corresponding projection of the skirt of the lid is fitted, preventing in this way the unscrewing of the lid. One of the ends of the sealing strap includes a handlelike extension facilitating through pulling, the tearing off and separation of the sealing strap with respect to the package body.

Abstract: A container and closure for medicine, pills or the like includes a latch connected to the closure by a living hinge. The closure is connected to the container opposite from the latch by a second living hinge. The latch is seated within a recess on the sidewall of the container to provide a child resistant package. A cavity is formed between the sidewall and the latch in the recess. The latch must be depressed by the user to free a portion of the latch from the recess. The remainder of the latch is dislodged from the recess by pressing on a region of the sidewall of the container. The closure can then be opened by grasping the latch and pulling upwardly thereby freeing the closure from the upper rim of the container. The unitary container and closure provide an effective child resistant package which is likewise easily opened by an adult or senior citizen.

Abstract: A child resistant package including a plastic container having a finish with an external thread and a plastic closure having a base wall and an internal thread thereon for engaging the thread on the container. The container includes diametrically opposed integral tabs extending from the container. Each tab has substantially uniform thickness such that it is capable of flexing relative to said container. The skirt of the closure has a free edge with diametrically opposed projections thereon engagable by the radial tabs. The tabs are manually deflectable to disengage from said projections on the skirt to permit manual rotation of the closure to unthread said closure from the container.

The package is resistant to opening by children but readily openable by adults, particularly adults having impaired manual dexterity of their hands and/or fingers. The package includes a bottle having a finish portion. The finish portion has a platform with at least one resiliently deformable pushtab secured to the platform. The resiliently deformable pushtabs contain a vertical extensions which engage the interlocking pawls on the innermost surface of the closure skirt when the closure is fully assembled onto the finish portion. To remove the closure, the opposed pushtabs must be depressed prior to unscrewing to the closure to disengage the pushtab extensions from the interlocking pawls on the closure.

Abstract: A child resistant attachment for containers used for storing and dispensing potentially dangerous materials, such as medicament tablets or the like, the attachment being resistant to opening by children but readily openable by adults, particularly adults having impaired manual dexterity of their hands and/or fingers. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the attachment comprises a finish portion including thread ring with an integrally molded annular tab ring or collar generally concentric to the thread ring and a closure which is releasably secured to the thread ring by means of complementary screw threads. The tab ring or collar preferably includes a pair of resiliently deformable spring-like pushtabs containing vertical extensions which engage interlocking pawls on the innermost surface of the closure skirt when the closure is fully assembled onto the finish portion.

The beam is angled outward and downward from the finish portion. The beam has a substantially vertical locking surface and a pushtab spaced along the beam. The angle of the beam is such that the pushtab may be depressed substantially radially toward the finish portion. The locking surface is located between the finish portion and the pushtab so that depression of the pushtab results in a greater beam deflection and lower deflection force at the pushtab than at the locking surface. A bottle closure has threads for rotatably securing the closure to the finish portion of the bottle.

Abstract: A child resistant closure has a lid and a container. In the upper area of the container, a resilient area is provided to allow a manual depression so as to distance this upper area of the container from the lower edge of the lid thus allowing a manual gripping of the lower edge of the lid. Removal of the lid is therefore effected through two successive operations in directions substantially perpendicular to one another, one being a depression of the resilient area substantially perpendicular to the axis of the body, the other being a lifting of the lid substantially parallel to this axis.

The container includes diametrically opposed integral tabs extending from the container. Each tab has substantially uniform thickness such that it is capable of flexing relative to said container. The skirt of the closure has a free edge with diametrically opposed projections thereon engagable by the radial tabs. The tabs are manually deflectable to disengage from said projections on the skirt to permit manual rotation of the closure to unthread said closure from the container.
