Abstract: A screw-cap type container comprises a container or bottle having a screw thread and an annular flange formed on a neck thereof. The flange is discontinuous to define a locking slot between its opposite ends. A closure cap has an internal screw thread for engaging the screw thread of the container to releasably secure the closure cap thereon. A lock tab, secured to the closure cap, normally engages within the locking slot to prevent relative rotation between the closure cap and container, when they are threadably secured together. When appropriate finger pressure is applied to the lock tab, it will disengage the locking slot for permitting the closure cap to be unscrewed and removed from the container. The closure cap may be of the "reminder" type for visually displaying information to a user relating to periodic use of the contents of the container.

Abstract: A child resistant spout package wherein a plastic container includes a neck and a spout extending axially outwardly through said neck and the neck includes internal threads that are engaged by external threads on a closure which projects beyond the finish to accommodate the spout. The finish of the container includes an axially extending flexible wall. Interengaging ratchets are provided between a flange on the closure and the flexible wall of a container and are operable to normally permit rotation of the closure to apply the closure to the container but prevent rotation of the closure for removing the closure from the container. When the flexible wall is flexed at points spaced from the ratchet, the wall is deformed sufficiently to prevent the ratchet on the wall and the closure from engaging so that the closure can be rotated to remove the closure from the container.

Abstract: A child-proof container and a closure for selectively opening and closing the container. The hollow container has at its upper end a dispensing opening. The closure has a body member and a flip-top cap member attached by a hinge to the body member for movement between open and closed positions. The body member is supported and locked on the container to permit rotational movement of the body member on the container. The container has an annular locking rib for releasable locking engagement with a locking bead on the cap member to permit unlocking of the cap member from the container only when the body member is rotated to an unlocking position with respect to the container, whereby the cap member may be moved from a closed to an open position to permit dispensing of contents from the container. The container and the closure are provided with corresponding indicia to indicate the precise rotational alignment of the container and the body member to permit unlocking of the cap member from the container.

Abstract: Disclosed is a package having a closure which provides child resistance with optional easy opening and closing features. The closure is permanently but rotatably attached to the container finish, and is held on the container by snap engagement with the container or with an adapter which is separately attached to the container. The closure has a depending skirt which encircles a latching flange on the container or on the adaptor. A hinged lid on the closure has a latch which is latchable beneath the latching flange only if the closure is turned to a position such that the latch is aligned with a latch slot in the latching flange. Rotation of the closure relative to the slot, once the latch has been engaged through the slot, locks the lid against opening.

Abstract: A one-piece closure includes a bottom member adapted to engage over the neck portion of a container and a top lid member that rotates between a closed position where it engages the mouth of the bottom member and an open position on an integral hinge. An elongate arm includes a distal end hook that engages a ledge on the top lid to hold the top lid open but, when depressed allows the top lid to be opened. The elongate arm can only be depressed by using the thumb or a finger and the top lid cannot be grasped except be the area hidden by the elongate hook.

Abstract: A closure system comprising a container having a neck with external threads thereon and a cap having an end wall, an annular skirt and a dispensing opening extending through the end wall. The skirt has internal threads complimentary to the external threads on the container neck for selectively screwing the cap onto the container neck. Cooperating locking members are provided on the outer surface of the container neck and on the inner surface of the skirt, the locking members preventing rotation of the cap. In one embodiment, a tear out section is provided on the cap skirt which is torn when an attempt is made to unscrew the cap from the container. In another embodiment of the closure system, the locking members are used in association with a non-cylindrical container and a non-cylindrical cap to position the dispensing opening relative to the container in a predetermined position.

Abstract: A closure and container having pass over inter-engaging teeth of novel configurations enable the closure to be threadably engaged on the neck finish of the container with relatively low torque rotation and removed from the container only with relatively greater torque rotation in the opposite direction.

Abstract: A rotatable member is held within a closure cap by a circumferential ridge. Both the closure cap and the rotatable member carry inwardly projecting studs. Ribs on stepped cylindrical surfaces of the container neck are provided with channels that permit axial passage of the studs when properly aligned. Proper alignment is achieved by means of stops on the rotatable member and the closure cap which, when engaged during rotation, align the studs circumferentially with the channels. The rotatable member is provided with a frictional fit on the neck of the container, or the rib thereof, so that as the closure cap is rotated, the rotatable member will stay in position on the container neck until the stops contact one another. When the closure cap is rotated in a predetermined direction to a predetermined point, it will cause the stops to contact such as to properly index the studs on the rotatable member relative to channels in a rib on the container neck.

Abstract: A tamper evident closure is integrally molded in a straight draw mold with a tear out tab extending laterally outward adjacent a slot in the free edge of the closure skirt and connected to the skirt by flexible, frangible bridges. After the closure is removed from the straight draw mold, the tear out tab is rotated about the flexible, frangible bridges into the slot and is retained therein by bevelled engagement ribs along the side edges of the tear out tab which snap over and engage the side edges of the slot. A radially inwardly directed projection on the tear out tab engages the conventional transfer bead on a container, and remains engaged thereby as the closure is unthreaded, thus, producing an axial force which fractures the bridges. The tear out tab then slides free of engagement with the edges of the slot and separates leaving a visual indication of prior removal of or tampering with the closure.

Abstract: A screw top container lid defines child-proof opening means which are especially suitable for use with container lids of large size. The container lid has a top wall and a peripheral wall with an inner surface, typically with screw threads for attachment to a container lip. The inner surface of the peripheral wall also defines a ratchet for engagement with corresponding ratchet on a container when the lid is applied to it, to permit screw-threaded rotation of the lid in a tightening direction to seal the lid on the container in a closed condition, but to prevent counterrotation of the lid to permit removal from the container. A portion of the peripheral wall defines removable tear strip means. The tear strip carries at least some of the ratchet of the peripheral wall, with the result that a container carrying the lid in its closed condition may be opened by removing the tear strip to facilitate counterrotation of the lid.

Abstract: A package for storing and dispensing potentially dangerous materials, such as medicament tablets or the like, said package being resistant to opening by children but readily openable by adults, particularly adults having impaired manual dexterity of their hands and/or fingers. In a particularly preferred embodiment, the package comprises a bottle, a collar which is secured in place over the uppermost portion of the bottle and a closure which is secured to the finish portion of the bottle by means of complementary screw threads. The collar preferably includes a pair of spring-like pushtabs containing vertical extensions which engage interlocking teeth on the innermost surface of the closure skirt when the closure is fully assembled onto the bottle. To remove the closure, the opposed pushtabs must be manually depressed prior to applying unscrewing torque to the closure to disengage the pushtab extensions from the interlocking teeth on the closure.

Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure comprising a first part having a base wall and a peripheral skirt adapted to be threaded onto a container. The peripheral skirt includes interengaging portions that engage portions of the container to prevent removal from the container. The closure also includes a second part or lid connected to the first part by an integral hinge and having a base wall, peripheral skirt and a closing portion adapted to extend into a nozzle on the base wall of the first part when the second part is moved into overlying relationship to the first part. Snap lugs on the second part engage bead segments on the firt part to hold the second part in closed position. The diameter of the skirt of the first part includes a radial flange that extends circumferentially about most of the periphery of the skirt. The flange is connected integrally to an outer radially deflectable wall panel.

Abstract: A vial or other container includes a hinged closure member having a latch for securing the closure member in a closed position. The latch includes a "child resistant" configuration wherein it is very difficult for adolescents to open the container and an "easy open" configuration wherein it is relatively simple for persons with limited manual dexterity to open the closure member. The latch includes a bipositional tongue hingedly attached to either the container or closure member. The tongue is hinged to allow for the various configurations and, when in the child proof configuration, substantially requires use of both hands and a substantial amount of dexterity in order to open the closure member. Various devices are further provided to protect the tongue from manipulation by adolescents and for indicating previous tampering with the container. The closure member is connected by a hinge to the container.

Abstract: A container for liquids having a dripless lip assembly incorporated with an angled spout. The container includes various caps for closing the pouring orifice. The caps may include an external retaining plug for sealing and unsealing the pouring orifice quickly. The caps may also include a tamper resistant pull tab. A separate filling orifice is provided.

Abstract: According to the present invention, a locking means is provided for a filter cartridge and head unit. This locking means comprises a spring driven plunger, which preferably is supported by the head and comprises at least one detent, which preferably is disposed in the cartridge in the top wall upper surface thereof, whereby inadvertent disengagement of the cartridge from the head is prevented by engagement of the plunger and the detent, and whereby replacement of the cartridge is permitted by first lifting the plunger before rotating the cartridge through a requisite 90 degrees for disengagement thereof. By using the spring driven plunger and cooperating detent, the problem is avoided of a person, or a child, being able to inadvertently disengage the securing tabs from the securing tab receptacles.

Abstract: A back-off resistant closure for resealable engagement upon a container having a neck with a ring of outwardly projecting ratchet formations includes a generally planar top portion with a depending peripheral annular skirt, the skirt having a plurality of recess formations for matingly engaging the ratchet formations on the container neck, thus preventing unwanted backing-off of the closure from the container, as well as facilitating the removal of the finished closure from conventional injection molding machinery.

Abstract: A dispensing closure is equipped with child resistant means of securing same on a container and provides for concentric primary orifice for dispensing that is capable of enlarging its size to a secondary orifice for easy rinsing of the container package or complete product removal as desired. A pull ring is secured to the closure top wall surrounding the primary orifice and an annular line of weakening is formed in the top wall encircling the ring pull and defining an enlarged area. The ring pull may be used to manually remove the material of the enlarged area portion and provide the enlarged orifice. The removable material can provide for marketing promotions of the package. The preferred closure is illustrated as a snap hinged cover cap and child resistant dispensing closure in which the main closure includes a skirt wall and radially-spaced flexible outer wall that is deformable to open the cover cap which provides a further child resistant feature to the package.

Abstract: An improved dispensing container which includes side walls, a top wall, a dispensing spout and a closure removably securable to the spout. The closure includes a skirt portion adapted for removable securement to the spout, and with a cap hingedly secured thereto. The cap and a portion of the skirt have matable elements which in mating relationship releasably secure the cap in a closed position. The cap further includes a locking member which is matable with a member on the spout when the cap is in the closed position to preclude removal of the closure from the spout. In one embodiment, the closure further includes a top wall which defines an opening therein which serves to vent the container and at the same time permits squirt-type dispensing of the contents of the container. In such embodiment, the cap when closed closes the top wall opening. The closure is also claimed.

Abstract: Closure assembly includes a lid carrier or base having a hinged lid. The top wall of the lid carrier has a sealing means surrounded by a downward alignment sleeve. The assembly is especially useful with high-speed automatic container-capping machinery, because the sleeve cooperates with the cylindrical upright neck or spout on a container to see that the closure assembly is not cocked prior to sealing and that the top of the spout makes square contact with the sealing means to assure a good seal. The sleeve is interrupted on the opposite side of the carrier from the hinge so that it does not interfere with action of a latch depending from the lid. The spout itself forms a stop for the latch so that it will not be overextended and break when it is pressed in unlatching.

Abstract: A child resistant closure having a visible external locking tab which cooperates with a locking stop on a container. A threaded inner cap remains sealed while the child resistant locking tab is locked from the position of locking to a tightened position. An outer cap is rotated to engage cooperating drive means for closing or opening the closure. When the closure is reapplied, the user is assured that it is sealed when he observes that the child resistant tab is engaged.

Abstract: This invention relates to a child-resistant dispensing closure for fitment to a container. The closure has a base portion and a cap portion hingedly connected thereto. This child-resistant features includes an elongated, flexible, resilient post which extends upwardly from the base and which has an enlarged upper end. When the cap is brought to the closed position, the elongated upper end passes through an aperture in the cap top wall and assumes a position which interferes with the opening of the cap.

Abstract: An improved child resistant closure for a container comprises a base fixedly securable to the container, the base having an orifice communicating with an opening defined by the neck of the container and a first engaging means, a cover having a second engaging means, one of the cover and the base having a deformable portion, such that the cover is moveable between a closed position wherein the cover obturates the orifice in the base and wherein the first and second engaging means are engaged for retaining the cover in the closed position, and an open position when the orifice is exposed for dispensing the contents from the container, the cover being moveable to the open position by deforming the deformable portion which serves to disengage the first and second engaging means.

Abstract: A dispensing closure molded with polypropylene or other suitable plastic material having a base cap with a dispensing orifice in its top and a lid hinged to the cap for closing the orifice. The lid has a low profile with its skirt conforming with the cap skirt in its closed position so that the lid cannot be grasped with sufficient force to open the lid. An arcuate slot in the cap top allows inward deflection of the cap skirt providing access to the bottom of the lid for swinging the lid open.

Abstract: A hinged dispensing closure of unitary molded construction is disclosed which may be readily opened by an adult using one hand. A narrow slot of short length is molded near the periphery of the top wall of the snap-hinged cover cap opposite its hinged connection to the main closure. The sidewall of the cover cap includes axially extending parallel score lines from near its skirt edge to the ends of the slot to define a tab. Pressing by the thumb on the tab while holding the package in the same hand ruptures the scores and deflects the tab inwardly for ready access to an exposed edge of the formed slot; and pressure on the edge opens the cover cap. The deflected tab is held by an internal cam wall inwardly of the slot, which indicates that the package is opened when the tab is held in this deflected position. A second embodiment provides a hook and latch locking means between the main closure and cover cap opposite the hinge.

Abstract: A dispensing closure molded with a polypropolyene or other plastic material having a base cup with a dispensing orifice in its top and a lid hinged to the cap for closing the orifice. The lid is recessed in the base cap and has projecting tabs which are pushed to release detent locks so that the lid may be swung to an open, dispensing position. Arcuate slots through the lid, in line with the tabs, allow sufficient deflection of the lid to unlock the the detents.

The cap portions together include means so that they can be snapped together and their separation from a closed to an open position requires the exertion of a positive force by the user and the first cap portion includes at its periphery opposite its hinged connection with the second cap portion a lip which co-operates with an inwardly displaceable section of the second cap portion.

Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure of the type comprising a cap member and a spout member. The cap member is provided with an exterior skirt, a top surface having an elongated groove formed therein, and an interior skirt. The interior skirt is provided with a cap locking bead adapted to engage a container locking bead provided on the neck of a container for rotatably mounting the cap member on the neck of the container. The elongated groove has a dispensing opening and an open area formed therein, and the interior skirt is provided with an interruption at the location of the open area so as to maintain the area unobstructed. The container locking bead is also provided with an interruption. The spout member includes an elongated body having a longitudinal dispensing passage therein and adapted to be mounted at one end in the elongated groove for rotation with respect to the cap member. The spout member is provided with a depending locking prong adapted for insertion into the open area.

Abstract: A child resistant cap is desirably fastened onto a container which container has a peripheral recess located below an extending top dome portion. The cap has a first inner partial peripheral flange having a given opening and a second inner partial peripheral flange located above said first flange and having a diametrically opposed opening, with said first flange inserted into said recess to cause said second flange to coact with said extending top portion when said cap is emplaced on said container.

Abstract: The present invention provides a non-strippable, child-proof screw closure for containers, and especially for storage bottles containing cleaning liquids, comprising a pourer arranged on the container having external threads and radially extending stops formed thereon, and a screw cap with catches which can be opened out by the stops. The screw cap has a separate internal threaded piece.

Abstract: A container and safety closure therefor includes a hollow container having an externally threaded tubular neck defining a tubular opening into the container. An outer surface area of the container extending outwardly from and adjacent to the neck or portion of the neck or stepped portion thereof or an attached ring has a plurality of recesses extending inwardly. An internal threaded closure adapted to screw on to and off the threaded neck is provided with a web formed integral with a lower edge of the closure and extends outwardly from one side thereof adjacent to the neck. A tab extends upwardly from the web. A pawl formed integrally with either an under surface of the web or in an inwardly facing vertical surface on the web or an outwardly facing surface of the tab is provided to engage the recesses in the container or neck thereof or in the ring when the closure is threadably moved downwardly on the neck. The upstanding tab extends upwardly from distal end of the web.

Abstract: A tamper-evident child-resistant screw cap for a bottle has an internally threaded closure portion and a depending cylindrical skirt portion having a pair of diametrically spaced arc segments, frangibly attached to the skirt and flexurally attached to the open end of the closure portion. The arc segments have downward-facing ratchet dogs engaged with upward-facing ratchet teeth on the bottle neck. Each arc segment has an upstanding rigid lever which may be inwardly depressed to disengage the ratchet dogs from the ratchet teeth of the bottle neck, permitting first removal of the cap only after breaking the frangible attachments and depressing the levers while unscrewing the cap; thereafter permitting removal only by depressing the levers while unscrewing the cap, or by breaking off the levers and arc segments at their flexural attachments, thereby converting the cap to a non child-resistant configuration.

Abstract: A tamper proof seal and container closure device including, in combination a seal ring and a closure, said seal ring being provided on its inner face with at least one recess and at least one stop, said closure being provided with at least one projection on the lower edge of the closure, said projection being adapted to fit within the recess of the seal so that when the combination seal ring and closure are fitted to a bottle neck the stop on the seal ring locks the seal ring, closure and bottle neck together. The combined seal ring and closure can be locked onto the bottle neck by the interaction between the stop on the seal and a complementary stop formed on the side of the base of the bottle neck.

Abstract: A closure system for threaded containers wherein the closure is of the dispensing type and is child resistant in two aspects. Interengaging lugs on the closure skirt and container neck are so arranged that a squeezing force is required to permit the closure being unthreaded from the container. A dispensing opening in the closure top is closed by a hinged cap that meets with the upper rim of the closure in a parting line. At this parting line both the hinged cap and the top of the closure have matching protruberances that require the squeezing of the lower one in order to push up or release the cap. The plastic material of the cap and the closure are sufficiently strong that a child is unable to flex or squeeze the closure enough to open the cap or unthread the closure from the container.

Abstract: A container cap and a method for forming a container cap with a skirt portion that attaches to the container are provided. The cap has depending tabs attached by a living hinge to the skirt portion. Threads are provided as connectors for mating engagement with the container. The hinged tabs are folded through at least 180.degree. to be received in cavities in the skirt portion. The cavities have converging sidewalls mating with converging edges to snap lock the tabs in the operative position. A lug may be provided on the threads to lock the cap on the container. The method includes the steps of forming the cap with hinged depending tabs, removing the core mold from the cap interior, flexing the tabs inwardly to allow the cap to drop out of the cavity mold, folding the tabs into the skirt portion and snap locking the tabs into the cavities.

Abstract: A child resistant dispensing closure of the type comprising a cap base member and a cap lid member. The cap base member is provided with a dispensing opening, a slot, and a cap locking bead adapted to engage a container locking bead provided on the neck of a container. The container locking bead is provided with an interruption which is adapted to be brought into and out of alignment with the slot by manually rotating the cap base member with respect to the neck. The cap lid member is provided with a locking prong adapted to be received within the slot when the cap lid member assumes a closed position wherein it closes off the dispensing opening. The locking prong, when the cap lid member is in the closed position, is adapted to be engaged beneath the continuous portion of the container locking bead.

Abstract: A child resistant upright bottle neck and cap combination if provided, wherein threads formed on its outer side and there being structure at the uppermost end of the neck to close same, the cap having a first skirt and threading formed on the skirt at the inner side thereof to mesh with the neck threads when the cap is rotatably attached to the neck. In this environment there is provided:(a) first lug structure including a first lug on the neck and protruding sidewardly outwardly thereof,(b) and a second lug on the cap skirt and protruding sidewardly inwardly thereof to engage and ride over the first lug during rotatable attachment of the cap to the neck,(c) and a brake surface formed on the cap generally opposite the second lug and presented inwardly to engage the neck and frictionally resist cap rotation in either direction after the second lug rides over the first lug in a cap tightening direction.

Abstract: A child-resistant package that includes a wide mouth blown glass container or blow molded plastic container, and a molded thermoplastic closure that is affixed to the finish portion of such container. The finish portion of the container has a radially outwardly projecting flange at the bottom portion of such finish portion, and this flange has a notch in its outer periphery. The closure has a flexible projection that extends outwardly and downwardly from the skirt of the closure, and a portion of this projection engages the notch in the flange of the finish to prevent the turning of the closure on the finish. The projection of the closure can be manipulated by hand to remove the portion of the projection that engages the notch in the container finish to disengage the closure projection from the container finish notch, to permit the removal of the closure from the container.

Abstract: A safety closure and container package including an internally threaded closure cap and a container having a threaded neck. A retention flange is located on the container neck below the threads, having a gradually sloping upper surface and an abrupt, inwardly directed lower surface extending downwardly toward the neck at 45.degree.-90.degree.. A coacting inwardly projecting retention bead on the cap completes this child-resistant feature requiring considerably more force for removal of the closure than application. The safety package can also include a second container flange and cap bead located between the retention flange and bead and the threads to provide a non-backoff feature. The non-backoff flange has a gradually sloping upper surface and a gradually sloping inwardly directed surface extending downwardly toward the container neck at 15.degree.-25.degree..

Abstract: A tamper resistant and child resistant container and closure assembly comprising a container body with a substantially cylindrical neck including an externally screw threaded portion near to the top and below the screw thread a plurality of cams each with an inclined surface terminating in a sharp shoulder, a closure with a body which tapers internally outwardly from an internally screw threaded part near to the top of the closure and which has a corresponding number of depending webs below the screw thread for engagement with the cams on the container neck in the manner of a ratchet and pawl mechanism and a tamper-resistant band provided below the closure body and connected thereto by frangible means, the band being provided with internal webs vertically below the webs on the closure body also for engagement with the cams so that when the closure is unscrewed after disengagement of the body webs from the cams, the band is prevented from turning by the engagement of the band webs with the cams and the frangib

Abstract: A child-resistant container including in combination a container and a threadedly engaged closure means. The interior of the closure means is provided with compressible sealing means for fluid-tight sealing of the container. The neck of the container is provided with outwardly radial projections and the skirt of the closure is provided with inwardly radial grooves to engage said projections and provide a child resistance means. The closure means has an indicating marker and the marker is visually aligned with a visible feature of the container when the container is both sealed and in the child-resistant mode.

Abstract: A rotary closure cap for loose-material containers consisting of a cap portion and of a rotary disc mounted thereon for rotation about an axis. These components comprise in their main surfaces perpendicular to the axis, pouring openings and a locking assembly which may successively be brought into coincidence by relative movements. The locked position is intended to be childproof. According to the invention, the locking assembly consists of a detent button arranged on a spring tongue of the cap portion and of a detent hole through the rotary disc which is large enough for an engaged detent button to be pushed down by finger pressure. The operation of the rotary closure cap requires both depression of the detent button and rotation of the rotary disc simultaneously.

Abstract: A tamper indicating and child resistant package including a screw-type closure for use with a container having a threaded neck. The container is equipped with lock members along the threaded neck and a loading ramp carried on the threaded portion of the neck. The closure has concentric inner and outer skirts depending from the top and a lock tab depending from the outer skirt. A T-shaped tamper indicating means is frangibly attached to the outer skirt and to the inner skirt by means of shear webs. The tamper indicating means has a riding ramp along the inner periphery of the inner skirt to engage the loading ramp during application of the closure to the container to avoid premature removal of the tamper indicating means.

Abstract: A safety closure cap for containers in which the cap is pressed onto a container neck. The cap skirt comprises two or more pressure points for distorting the cap. Abstract: A drainport closure device particularly suitable for a motor vehicle radiator drain valve. The device is composed of a housing and plug member. The housing communicates with a fluid containing vessel at one end and the other end receives the plug. The plug has one or more flexing arms which may be compressed to permit the plug to be moved between two positions within the housing. In the first position an "O"-ring seal carried by the plug prevents fluid drainage whereas when the plug is repositioned to a second position, fluid drainage occurs.

Abstract: An assembly of a container (1) and a child resistant closure (5) therefor. The container (1) has an external bead (3) on the neck (2) thereof and the closure (5) an inturned flange (8) on the skirt (7) thereof which makes snap engagement with the bead (3). The neck (2) of the container (1) comprises an external screw thread (4) while the skirt (7) of the closure (5) is locally severed or weakened to provide local deformable skirt portions (11) which can be deformed inwards by finger pressure thereon to enage thread portions (13) on the skirt portions (11) with the screw thread (4). The closure (5) is removable from the container (1) by deforming the skirt portions (11) to engage the thread portions (13) with the screw thread (4) by finger pressure thereon and rotating the closure (5) relative to the container (1) while maintaining said finger pressure.

Abstract: A tamper indicating, child resistant closure is provided by a one piece threaded cap having a non-backoff feature. The child resistant component is provided by a squeeze and twist lock having a deflectable tab which cooperates with a radially extending container abutment spaced from the container neck. A radially extending tamper indicating block attached to the cap skirt by a frangible web also aligns with the container abutment and prevents opening unthreading until the block is removed. The non-backoff feature is provided by an inwardly directed flange at the bottom of the cap skirt cooperating with a container bead.

Abstract: A tamper indicating child resistant package including a screw type closure for use with a container having a threaded neck portion. The package is comprised of a lock member on a container adjacent to the threaded neck, a closure having a top with coaxial inner and outer skirts, one or more lock elements depending from the outer skirt. The lock member is engageable with the lock elements to deflect the outer skirt to permit clearance of the lock elements and lock member upon closing of the closure relative to the container. The lock element is further deflectable radially outwardly upon radial inward squeezing of the outer skirt to clear the lock member upon removal of the closure from the container. A tamper indicating means is provided to maintain the lock element in circumferentially aligned relationship relative to the lock member, and is further provided with stop elements to cooperatively engage the stop lugs on the container.
