The tamper indicating band of the overcap is supported interiorly by the spout in both the open position and closed position of the spout.

The second portion of the skirt and the wall on the container have interlocking elements that resist removal of the closure from the container in a child-resistant mode of operation absent a force against the first wall to disengage the interlocking elements.

The attachment is achieved with a novel frangible feature that flexes out of the way during a simplified snap-on assembly. The feature breaks away when any attempt is made to separate the dosage cup from bottle, thus rendering the product safe from malicious tampering. In an alternate embodiment, the dosage cup is used to measure any liquid product.

Abstract: In one embodiment there is provided a novel container neck finish having a substantially cylindrical exterior wall surface surrounding an orifice defined in the container and a thread structure positioned about the exterior wall surface. The thread structure in one aspect has at least a first portion, a second portion positioned substantially axially below the first portion, and a third portion positioned substantially axially below the second portion. The first, second, and third portions, being inclined with respect to the other portions provide a screw on neck finish. The effective maximum diameter of the first portion is less than the effective maximum diameter of the second portion to define a first to second separation distance. And the effective maximum diameter of the second portion is less than the effective maximum diameter of the third portion to define a second to third separation distance.

Abstract: A tamper-evident, re-closable container is disclosed, comprising a container body, having a neck portion with a cammed projection, and a mouth rimmed by a lip and a closure having a top portion with a groove to rotatably engage and seal against the lip of the container, and a bottom portion having a contour formed therein to rest under the cammed projection. A breakable tamper-evident section circumferentially connects the top portion of the container to the bottom portion of the container and connecting means connects the top portion to the bottom portion. Rotation of the closure around the mouth of the container causes the cammed projection to force the bottom portion downwardly to break the tamper-evident section. A tamper-evident closure is also described for use with a re-closable container, having a top portion that can be rotated around a mouth of the container to cause a tamper-evident section to break.

External push threading is provided around a circumferential outer surface of the push member.

Abstract: Conventional adhesive and contact welding methods for holding the paperboard and plastic components of a composite closure together present a number disadvantages and do not lend themselves easily to mass production. The present invention describes two novel approaches, firstly the pre-assembly heating of the closure components with directed hot air to partially melt the thermoplastic surfaces and allow the parts to be immediately assembled sealingly and, secondly, a novel construction of plastic and paperboard composite closure in which the plastic rim is of a two-piece snap-fit constructions which firmly grips the top panel of the paperboard lid.

Abstract: A plastic closure includes a plastic closure shell having a base wall with a central opening, a skirt for securing the closure to a container neck finish, and an internal ledge on the skirt adjacent to but spaced from the base wall. A plastic disk is retained within the closure shell. The disk includes a plurality of axially extending spacer elements, preferably in the form of angularly spaced circumferentially aligned bead segments around a peripheral portion of the disk, to engage an underside of the base wall and space the disk from the base wall of the shell. Angular gaps between the spacer elements permit flow of fluid from the central opening, between the base wall and the disk and through the gaps. A periphery of the disk is disposed between the internal ledge on the skirt and the base wall of the shell to capture the disk such that the disk is free to rotate within the shell. A resilient sealing liner is molded onto an underside of the disk for sealing engagement with the container neck finish.

Abstract: A container cap which offers improved opening/closing performance and improved touch feeling. Linear protuberances are formed on the circumferential wall of the main portion of the skirt of the container cap of the container. The protuberances include large protuberances having a large height and small protuberances having heights of protrusion from the outer surface of the circumferential wall portion smaller than that of the large protuberances. The main portion has large protuberance regions forming a plurality of large protuberances and small protuberance regions forming a plurality of small protuberances, the large protuberance regions and the small protuberance regions being alternately arranged in the circumferential direction of the main portion.

Abstract: The capsule includes a lower cap with a security strip which inserts removably on a mouth of a bottle. The upper part of the lower cap is open and provided with a neck which couples with an upper cap, also having a security strip. A reservoir is provided within the upper cap and has a breakable bottom; the reservoir also internally includes a cutter. The upper cap can move axially downwards with respect to the neck and the bottle, while it is prevented from moving upwards. The capsule also includes an anchoring between the reservoir and the neck of the capsule when the reservoir is inserted in the neck. The process includes filling the bottle with fizzy water, hermetically closing the bottle with a capsule containing substances to be added to the fizzy water, and introducing the substances into the fizzy water before consuming the drink.
