Abstract: Provided are a cap capable of being easily and reliably opened and unsealed not limited in design even if an inner cap with a small diameter is used for the cap, producing no refuse after the unsealing, and not unnecessarily large in size, and a container with the cap. When an over cap (3) is rotated in the opening direction, a pair of screw threads (10a, 10b) as opening means are advanced in the direction in which they are tightened together, and this cuts off a planned opening section (4) from the inner cap (2). Thus, the cap has a relatively simple structure and can be simply and reliably unsealed by small force. Also, the planned opening section (4) is integrated with the over cap (3) after unsealing the inner cap (2), so that no refuse is produced after the unsealing, eliminating the need to clear it away from a table.

  • Patent number: 7886922
Abstract: The invention relates to a plastic closing device comprising a bottom part, a closing cap, and a cutting ring which is mounted inside the neck of the bottom part so as to be helically movable. A driving cam (16) which is axially disposed in the closing cap acts upon the non-continuously circular cutting ring when the closing cap is unscrewed such that the cutting ring perforates and cuts through the receptacle in a helical cutting movement. The cutting ring forms a ventilating concavity (6) which cooperates with the driving cam (16). The non-circular cutting ring, the bottom side of which is provided with a sharp cutting edge extending at an obtuse angle relative to the bottom edge of said ring, performs a helical cutting movement similar to an advancing knife when the closing cap is unscrewed such that the receptacle wall is easily cut by applying a minimum amount of force because a new sharp point constantly attacks the packaging material, thus preventing shredding.

The closure is removably applied to the container in a closing orientation by interengaging helical threads on the exterior of a neck of the container and an annular skirt of the closure. To dispense the contents of the container, the closure is removed and reapplied in an inverted orientation, a flange extension of the closure skirt surrounding the rim of the container and serving to center the closure in its inverted orientation on the container. A top panel of the closure is provided with a double-ended arcuate shoulder that engages the membrane when the closure is in its inverted orientation on the container to maintain tension in the portion of the membrane in engagement with the shoulder. The arcuate shoulder also serves, in combination with the flange extension, to trap the rim of the container therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5094361
Abstract: A closure for a rigid or deformable container. The contents of the container are protected by a seal. The closure has a bottom part and a cap fixed thereon by a hinge. The lower part is closed by a cover face, through which only a pouring spout extends. A tear-off element is positioned on an underside of the cap in such a way that it extends through the pouring spout as far as the seal located below it. The tear-off element is in active contact with the seal, for example, it is bonded or glued to it. At the time of a first opening, the tear-off element pulls the seal upwards, which is simultaneously broken by a cutting element below the pouring spout. Such closures are structurally simple in their manufacture as well as in operation and can be attached to various types of containers.

  • Patent number: 5052589
Abstract: A cap and tube assembly device, including a tube for containing a product, a nozzle having one end mounted to one end of the tube and having a thin wall section puncturable to provide a discharge on the other end and a cap. The nozzle has a smaller axial cross section than the tube. The junction of the tube and the nozzle define an inclined surface of transition to permit flow without cavitation from the tube to the nozzle. The cap has an inside cross section sized to engage the nozzle and an outside cross section less than the inside cross section of the tube. The cap has an axially centered piercing point positioned in a first position spaced from the thin wall and movable to a second position to puncture the thin wall. The piercing point includes a chisel shaped edge for forming a hole in the thin wall without fragmenting the wall. Also provided are ribs positioned in the tube for preventing entry of the cap into the nozzle when a plurality of these assemblies are stacked one on another.

  • Patent number: 5004111
Abstract: An improved innerseal for sealing containers includes a body portion having an upper surface and structure connected to the upper surface for grasping by a user, whereby the body portion may be removed from a container quickly and efficiently. The body portion includes structure for preventing passage of fluid therethrough, and structure adapted for bonding the body portion against the upper rim of the container with a first bonding force. The bonding structure has a first bonding portion for sealing against the container rim and a second bonding portion which is adhered to the first bonding portion with a second bonding force which is less than the first bonding force. Consequently, a first part of the first bonding portion will delaminate from the second bonding portion over the container rim and remain adhered to the rim, while a second part of the first bonding portion will remain adhered to the second bonding portion, thereby exposing the opening in the container when the grasping structure is pulled.

  • Patent number: 4953729
Abstract: A water bottle sanitation shield covers the neck and shoulder regions of the bottle and effectively insulates the interior of the cooler tank from contaminants that may have accumulated on the bottle during transport and handling. The shield comprises film of non porous material that is secured around the mouth of the bottle by an annular retention cap. The film has a perforated region for placement over the mouth of the bottle and a pull cord attached to the perforated region. The film is sized so that, when the bottle is inverted and lowered onto the tank opening, the film extends beyond its edge, thereby effectively closing off the tank opening. To remove the perforated region, the bottle is tilted at its shoulder region, to provide free movement for the pull cord. Pulling the cord causes the perforated region of the film to tear away, thereby allowing the water within the bottle to pass through the mouth of the bottle and into the water cooler tank.
