Abstract: A grip cap for a container has a thermoplastic shell in an inverted cup shape with a top wall and a skirt bounded by a lower rim. An elastomeric layer is integrally molded to the cap shell along the outer surface of the top wall and the skirt as well as along the underside of the lower rim. This layer defines multiple spaced apart and raised vertical ribs joined by a pad at the top wall and a gasket extending along the lower rim. The ribs and the pad provide a cushion and the gasket can seal against a shoulder of the container when tightened. Also disclosed is a two-shot method of molding such a grip cap, including integral resilient material at the outer surfaces and the underside of the cap shell rim.

Abstract: A tank cap has an upper longish handle portion engageable by a user's hand to open and close the cap relative to the tank. The handle also has, on each of its two sides, an indentation into which a screwdriver or the like can be inserted to aid in rotating the cap in the opening direction, the indentation being shaped so that if the inserted screwdriver is moved in the direction corresponding to closing of the cap the screwdriver will be cammed out of the indentation without over-tightening the cap in the closing direction.

  • Patent number: 6644492
Abstract: A container (2) and closure (4) arrangement where the container includes a closure displacement lever (16) to assist a user with removal of the closure. The lever is pivotally connected to the container at one end (20) and the other end (18) is free for manipulation by a user. In use, a skirt of the closure sits over part of the lever, so that movement of the free end of the lever in a direction away from the container exerts a force on the skirt to facilitate removal of the closure from the container.

  • Patent number: 6609287
Abstract: An improved cosmetic container cap assembly includes a molded plastic base cap including a wall having an inner surface for mating with a container and an outer surface including a plurality of substantially parallel vertical ribs disposed on the outer surface of the wall. The cosmetic container cap assembly also includes a molded plastic shell sized to surround the outer surface of the base cap and including a wall having an inner surface and an outer surface, the inner surface including a plurality of substantially parallel vertical ribs disposed to mate with the vertical ribs of the base cap. The ribs of at least one of the base cap or the shell include a plurality of protruded portions extending from the ribs that plastically deform when the shell is fitted over the outer surface of the base cap to secure the base cap through an interference fit.

Abstract: A child resistant cap for a bottle includes a cover portion with a periphery having a wall with an internal surface surrounds the neck when the cap is positioned on the bottle. The bottle includes a neck, an opening and a rib with a gap. A finger and a locking lug extend from the internal surface. The finger has a length less than a length of the gap. The locking lug has a length greater than the length of the gap. The locking lug and the finger engage the rib and permit a rotation between a first position, where the finger and gap are aligned and a series of second positions, where the finger and gap are not aligned. A tab extends from the cover portion for applying a force to the cover when the cap is in the first position to remove the cap from the bottle.

  • Patent number: 6571974
Abstract: The invention provides a device for inhibiting unused adhesive paste held within a commercially available dispensing squeeze tube from becoming unwanted hardened solids trapped within the mouth and nozzle of the squeeze tube. The invention provides a knurled knob or knurled cap griping means for pushing-in, pulling-out, and twisting an elongated spike into the mouth of the squeeze tube so that the spike can either minimize the amount of unwanted hardening of the any unused adhesive in the squeeze tube or to penetrate the resulting unwanted hardened solids at or near the mouth of the squeeze tube so as to create a fluid exit route for any remaining unused paste so that the contents are efficiently stored and used. The knurled knob or knurled cap also provides a safe means of preventing the user from being exposed to any unwanted unused adhesive onto the user's fingers and hands.

Abstract: A cork extraction device includes a tubular member having a first open end, a second open end and a peripheral wall having an outer threaded surface. The tubular member is positioned over an top end of a bottle. A cover member has a top wall and a perimeter wall extending downward from the top wall. The perimeter wall has an inner threaded surface. The cover member may be positioned over and threadably coupled to the tubular member when the cover member is rotated in a first direction. A corkscrew is elongate and has a first end and a second end. A disc is attached to the first end. The corkscrew is rotated in a second direction such that the second end extends through the top wall of the cover member and into a cork. The cover member is rotated in the second direction and the cork extracted from the bottle.
