Patent number: 4401226Abstract: A venting closure for sealing a pressurized container comprising a stopper member having an elongated stem portion engageable in the discharge opening in the container, an enlarged head portion having a bottom chamber formed in its outer axial end face, a generally disc-like button rotatably mounted in said chamber having means defining a groove overlying a removable cap normally sealing a port in said stopper communicating with the interior head space of said container, vent channel means in said button, rotation of said button operable to displace the means normally sealing said port to establish fluid communication therethrough and permit venting from the head space to the atmosphere through said vent channel means in said button.Type: GrantFiled: January 27, 1982Date of Patent: August 30, 1983Assignee: The West CompanyInventor: Homer J. Patent number: 4299339Abstract: A safety pouring closure comprises an inner cap and an outer cap assembled together by snap-engagement, each cap having an off-center orifice, the caps being capable of being rotated relatively between an open position in which the orifices are aligned and a closed position in which the orifices are angularly off-set, at least one blocking lug on the cap engaging in a recess in the cap in the closed position, the lug being capable of being disengaged from the recess by elastic deformation of the cap. The invention is applicable to closures for containers containing products dangerous to children.Type: GrantFiled: March 31, 1980Date of Patent: November 10, 1981Assignee: Societe de Moulage de TournusInventors: Maurice Giroux, Paul Sivignon, Claude Susini

Patent number: 4259184Abstract: A sealed container especially adapted for medical usage to receive and dispense fluids without contamination has a two orifice closure system whereby contaminants are kept out by a microfilter when an inlet orifice is opened for additions, and by a valve when an outlet orifice is opened for withdrawals. The closure has an upper removable seal and a lower fixed seal spaced from the upper removable seal and cooperating therewith in defining an operative space compartment sealed from both the interior of the container and the outside. In some embodiments, the lower seal has inlet and outlet passageways joining the interior of the container with the operative space compartment. An independent seal accessible from the operative space compartment is provided for the inlet passageway which is associated with the microfilter for stopping ingress of contaminants into the container. The valve provided at the outlet passageway is accessible from the operative space compartment to control outflow.Type: GrantFiled: October 31, 1978Date of Patent: March 31, 1981Inventor: Hubert A. Patent number: 4181246Abstract: A closure for a collapsible tube having a base portion mounted on the reinforced dispensing end of the tube. The base portion of the closure defines a bore communicating at one of its ends with the interior of the tube. The opposite end of the bore opens on the surface of a substantially spherical portion of the base member and serves as an outlet through which the tube contents are dispensed. This outlet is selectively opened and closed by a cap member fabricated from a semi-rigid material which defines a cavity which rotatably receives the spherical member therein. The tube contents are dispensed by rotating a port defined in the cap member into alignment with the base portion outlet and collapsing a portion of the tube wall. In one embodiment means are provided to assist in guiding the rotation of the cap member with respect to the spherical member for purposes of aligning the base portion opening and the cap member opening.Type: GrantFiled: March 24, 1978Date of Patent: January 1, 1980Inventor: Gilbert H. Patent number: 4096975Abstract: A container with a circular spout having a spiral groove receiving a closure cap axially movable on the spout to close the spout outlet which is offset from the axis of the spout. The cap is provided with a cutaway section closing the offset spout outlet in the closed position and unblocking the spout outlet in a second rotary position on the spout.Type: GrantFiled: January 17, 1977Date of Patent: June 27, 1978Inventor: Mureo Furukawa
