Abstract: A hinge system for a large or heavy cover member hinged to a container member. A container hinge plate is secured to a side wall of the container member and a cover hinge plate is secured to the side wall of the cover member and rotatably connected to the first hinge means at a hinge pivot means. A gas strut unitary with and pivotably mounted to the container and cover hinge plates raises and lowers the cover member to open and closed positions relative to the container member. The gas strut is pivotably attached to the container and cover hinge plates. A quick connect-disconnect plate removably connected to the cover hinge plate and rotatably connected to the hinge pivot is used to connect or disconnect the container hinge plate from the cover hinge plate and thus to connect or disconnect the cover member to or from the container member and thus connect or disconnect the container member to or from the cover member. The hinge system including the quick connect-disconnect plate can be mounted to a heavy door.

Abstract: A holder for connecting a cover of a suitcase to its bottom is formed of two pivotable arms connected to each other by a joint which includes a washer of plastic material interposed between two arms to reduce friction therebetween and a pin extending through the arms and the washer to hold them in assembly.
Abstract: A container, typically for a watch, has a chamber defined by its bottom and a parallel member extending between the side walls adjacent the bottom and one of the side walls provides access to the chamber, which is intended to receive a booklet or folder having indicia and/or graphics pertinent to the contents of the container. The parallel member is provided with an opening permitting contact with the booklet or folder by thumb or finger.
Abstract: A lightweight, inexpensive, attractive container suitable for shipping, storing and displaying goods is disclosed in which a cover made of card stock, heavy paper or lightweight cardboard is pivotally attached at one end to a dish-like container preferably made of polycarbonate or polyvinylchloride. The body of the cover may be raised and lowered to open and close the container. One or more strut members are movably attached to the cover and are positioned on the cover with at least one end adjacent to a shoulder on the upper part of the container wall. This arrangement provides increased strength. When the cover is raised, the struts are moved into engaging relationship with respect to a slot provided in a container wall to support the cover in a raised displaying orientation. The cover preferably has product information printed thereon regarding the container's content.
Abstract: A closure control for a storage box or the like having a heavy lid selectively movable between a closed position, wherein the lid closes an upwardly opening receptacle for receiving tools and the like, and an open position wherein the lid extends upwardly from a rear wall of the receptacle to provide facilitated access to the interior thereof. Movement of the closure lid between the closed and opened positions is assisted by a sealed pneumatic spring device. The spring device is arranged to provide a controlled rate of extension. The spring device is mounted within the receptacle in such a manner as to be protected against damage from articles placed into the receptacle. In the illustrated embodiment, the spring is located at the rear corners of a parallelepiped receptacle. In the illustrated embodiment, wall structures are provided adjacent the spring to further protect the spring against injury from articles placed in the receptacle.

Abstract: In combination with a tool box, a tool box accessory cabinet is secured to a side of the tool box. The accessory cabinet has a base which has therein a plurality of spaced-apart openings. Each opening is to accommodate an elongated tool which has an enlarged head. The enlarged head of the tool is to be located within the confines of the cabinet. The cabinet is to be lockable when closed and when open the top of the cabinet is to cooperate with the base to form an enlarged object supporting tray.
Abstract: A gravity closed, spring-biased, door control and hinge configuration located near the center of the top of a display cabinet wherein a spring attached to a lever extending from an L-shaped door is placed under tension when the door is moved to close a combined side-and-top dispensing opening.
Abstract: A telescopic support that is mounted to the inside surface of the lid of an automobile trunk and that may be extended to the floor of the trunk to maintain the trunk lid in an open position while carrying oversize objects in the trunk.
Abstract: A lid providing access to an operating area of a document processor is provided with simplified mechanism for controlling the opening and closing of the lid, and for preventing its accidental closing when in a full or partially opened state, such mechanism requiring but minimal actuating force for opening and closing the lid, and additionally providing for the full and automatic closing of the lid when it is manually actuated to a position proximate its fully closed position.
