Abstract: A liquid treatment apparatus imparts a distinctive flavor and scent to beverages and other liquids. In one embodiment, a wooden wave insert body undulates and crosses a center line, while the wood grain runs substantially parallel to the center line and does not undulate materially. In another embodiment, a wooden plug passes through and is affixed to the wall of a beverage container, and imparts a distinctive flavor and scent through an aging process that includes controlled oxidation. The wooden plug includes a hollow bolt having a bolt opening exposed to ambient air, a closed bolt head distal to the bolt opening, and a bolt fluid exchange passage between the bolt opening and the closed bolt head. The bolt passes through the wooden block between the bolt head and container wall. The bolt fluid exchange passage couples ambient air to the wooden block interior.

Abstract: The invention described herein generally pertains to a system and method related to a hermetic seal assembly used with a bag to provide a hermetic seal for the bag that can be opened and closed while maintaining the hermetic seal for the bag and materials stored therein. The hermetic seal assembly can include a lid and a collar, wherein the collar can be releasably affixed to the bag or integrated into an opening of the bag. The lid can include a sampling port and a corresponding removeable cap.
Abstract: A fluid guiding device and a vacuum container having the same comprising: a tapered plug having a tapered portion including first flow guiding grooves extending from the edge of the upper surface of the tapered portion to the guiding column, and a guiding column extending from the center of an upper surface of the tapered portion and including second flow guiding grooves formed along a longitudinal direction of the guiding column, the first flow guiding grooves each being in communication with a corresponding second flow guiding groove; and a tapered plug guide having a top opening and a guiding channel, the guiding column being inserted into the guiding channel, the guiding channel matching the guiding column and preventing the tapered portion from entering the guiding channel, the guiding channel and the second flow guiding grooves being in communication with the top opening.
Abstract: A valve for venting low pressure gas. A single piece valve made of resilient material includes a flange extending from the top of the valve body and a plurality of flutes extending up the sides of the valve. The flutes allow gas to pass from the interior of a container to the exterior under the flange.
Abstract: The closure has a bung-type socket (10) of soft elastic material with a flange-like outer bearing portion (12), a circumferential sealing portion (16) sealingly receiving the rim of the hole, and a circumferential snap-action portion (18) engaging the inside of the rim of the hole from behind. In the sealing portion (16) and the snap-action portion (18) of the bung-type socket (10) there is embedded a coaxial reinforcing ring (20) of hard plastic, which is radially rippled over the circumference and thereby is covered by the soft-elastic material in thickness varying over the circumference. The bung-type socket (10) has a central orifice (24), in which a manually adjustable valve element (26) of the pressure-compensating valve occupies a sealing closed position and a pressure-compensating position.

Abstract: The closure has a bung-type socket (10) of elastic material which fits sealingly into the filling hole and is provided with a central orifice (18). The valve element (20) of the pressure-compensating valve occupies in the central orifice a clearly defined closed position and a clearly defined pressure-compensating position, between which it can be turned within limits defined by stops. The bung-type socket (10) has a lateral pressure-compensating duct (42), the outside end of which is disposed above the liquid level in the completely filled container. The valve element (20) in pressure-compensating position opens up a flow path from the inside end of the pressure-compensating duct (42) to the upper side of the bung-type socket (10), while in closed position it shuts off the path on the inside, covers it on the outside and seals it tightly on both inside and outside.

Abstract: This invention provides for a quick-disconnect coupling and valve assembly which consists of a single-service coupling and valve assembly and a connector for cooperating therewith. The single-service coupling and valve assembly is comprised of two main parts, namely, a spout fitment for a flexible bag and a valve member which slidably fits within the spout for axial movement. The valve member is provided with an outwardly-opening socket for receiving the connector and this socket has at least one dispensing outlet in the base thereof. In use, the valve member is normally in closed position with the outlet disposed within the spout axially-outwardly of an inner seal between the spout and valve member. A one-way stop arrangement permits axial inward movement of the valve member relative to the spout but prevents axial outward movement, the inward movement opening the valve by moving the outlet inwardly beyond the spout.
Abstract: A molded, threaded port and plug may be produced in a container top in which a threaded port is defined at least in part by an inwardly projecting sleeve from the container top having first lateral aperture means, a plug threadedly mounted in the sleeve having an outwardly facing open recess defined by a tubular wall, and second lateral apertures communicating through the tubular wall. In one rotational position of the plug a flow channel is opened to the interior of the container, while in another rotational position of the plug the flow channel is sealed.
Abstract: A disposable tamperproof shipping valve for containers of fluids, especially those under pressure. The valve of unitary, one-piece construction incorporates a tamperproof, hermetic seal and includes a means for opening a check valve in an external dispenser for fluid flow control. It is amenable to ready insertion into the filling opening of a fluid shipping container. There, the valve remains sealed until the sealing ring is broken for fluid dispensing and consumption or use.
Abstract: A double-valved closure for a container, particularly a beer container, comprises a cup assembly for insertion into the opening of the container and includes a tubular component of plastics material having legs between which a reaction ring can be sprung during assembly of the closure. A downtube is received in the ring and extends from the lower end of the cup assembly into the container and surrounds one of the valves and a spring biasing the valve closed. The valve is carried by the top of the downtube and the reaction ring provides an abutment for the spring for this other valve and which biases the valve closed. The legs are held together after insertion of the reaction ring by means of an outer ring engaging external grooves in the legs.
