  • Publication number: 20130062313
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a gas circuit breaker switch (5) which can be integrated inside a switching device insulated in a dielectric gas, said switch (5) comprising an arc chute (1) inside which a fixed contact (3) and a moving contact (4) are arranged. The integration of the contacts (3, 4) inside at least one casing (19, 20) corresponding to the arc chute (1) allows reducing distances between phases, in addition to preventing any incident in one phase from affecting the remaining phases, and finally more compact electrical equipment is obtained. The switch (5) also comprises at least one generation means (6) for generating at least one gas, at least one blowout/intake means (7) for at least one extinguishing gas and at least one generation means (2) for generating a magnetic field, such that the electric arc generated between the contacts (3, 4) of the switch (5) can be extinguished by combining said means (6, 7, 2).

  • Patent number: 7875822
Abstract: A multiphase current interrupter is provided for interrupting a phase current between two contacts in an electrical phase. The current interrupter includes a first ablative chamber disposed around contacts for a first electrical phase. The first chamber has an ablative material thereon that causes a shock wave when an electrical arc is generated in an arc zone for the first electrical phase during a separation of the contacts therein. The current interrupter further includes at least a second ablative chamber disposed around contacts for at least a second electrical phase. The second chamber has an ablative material thereon that causes a shock wave when an electrical arc is generated in an arc zone for the second electrical phase during a separation of the contacts therein. An interconnecting structure provides fluid communication between the first ablative chamber and the second ablative chamber. The interconnecting structure is adapted to dissipate a shock wave generated in any of the ablative chambers.

  • Patent number: 7777150
Abstract: A three-pole apparatus, configured to be installed in a cubicle of an electric substation, comprises an air-insulated three-pole disconnector and a three-pole circuit breaker. The air-insulated three-pole disconnector is configured to isolate an electric line leaving the cubicle. The three-pole circuit breaker is configured to perform line protection functions. The three-pole apparatus comprises a casing comprised of insulating material and internally housing, at least partially, the three-pole circuit breaker. The casing is not sealingly closed and contains air. The circuit breaker comprises three vacuum circuit-breaker modules; the disconnector comprises three single-pole disconnector devices. Each of the single-pole disconnector devices in turn comprises a contact movable linearly from a service position into a disconnection position. Each of the contacts, when it is in its service position, projects at least partially from the casing.

  • Patent number: 6236562
Abstract: The section of an electrical high-voltage system has a gas-filled housing of predominantly symmetrical design. Provided in the housing are a conductor extending along a plane of symmetry of the housing, and cooling means for producing a circulation flow which dissipates heat loss from the conductor. The cooling means contains two blowers. The blowers are arranged in the interior of the housing and designed in such a way that, during the operation of the system, two mirror-symmetrical circulation part flows are formed which are bounded by the plane of symmetry. These circulation part flows are in each case guided without recirculation along a housing side wall from the top of the housing or the bottom of the housing. By this means, the heat loss is given up particularly effectively to the housing side walls, and the conductor can be loaded with very high operating currents.

  • Patent number: 5510591
Abstract: The invention relates to a high tension circuit breaker capable of interrupting alternating fault currents which have a pseudo period T. The faults occur at an instant t.sub.0 and delay the zero crossing of the current after a maximum time lapse of t.sub.zmax -t.sub.0. The circuit breaker includes a plurality of interrupting chambers in series. These chambers open at an instant t.sub.1 which is subsequent to the fault instant t.sub.0 and include moving equipment and an arc blaster. The arc blaster operates between instant t.sub.1 and instant t.sub.c, where instant t.sub.c is earlier than the instant t.sub.zmax -T. The circuit breaker also includes a feature which causes blasting to be extended to an instant t.sub.2 lying in the range t.sub.zmax -T and t.sub.zmax +T.
