Patent number: 7982143Abstract: An electric switch including a stationary contact that is annular. The switch comprises a gastight enclosure, a conductor bar of axis (D), a stationary contact presenting a contact zone of substantially annular shape, a switch element, e.g. on the conductor bar, that is movable in the axial direction of the axis (D) between a first position in which it penetrates in part into the stationary contact to establish electrical contact between the conductor bar and the stationary contact, and a second position in which it interrupts said contact. The stationary contact, which is in the form of a ring that is circular or elongate, such as elliptical, surrounds the conductor bar, at least in part.Type: GrantFiled: June 9, 2006Date of Patent: July 19, 2011Assignee: Areva T & D AGInventors: Vladimir Gutalj, Hugo Hiltbrunner

Patent number: 7919720Abstract: In an earthing switch a release mechanism releases pressure stored in a puffer type arc cancelling chamber by releasing the chamber at a predetermined area toward a stationary contact unit during a full stroke extent of a movable contact unit so that the puffering operation can be deterred from execution.Type: GrantFiled: December 12, 2007Date of Patent: April 5, 2011Assignee: Mitsubishi Electric CorporationInventors: Yoshinori Shimizu, Masahito Tanaka

Patent number: 7429710Abstract: A high or medium voltage electrical switch, particularly a GIS type isolating switch with three switching positions and a grounding position, includes a switching element in a closed and sealed enclosure that can be filled with a dielectrically insulating gas, containing a mobile switching element free to move along an axial direction to electrically connect two conducting bars at intervals from each other, and also including a fixed ground contact to be electrically connected to one of the two conducting bars through the switching element when the switch is in the grounding position. The fixed ground contact is offset from the path of the switching element along the axial direction and the switching element forms a Y with a contact pin such that the contact pin and the fixed ground contact engage in each other through displacement of the switching element along the axial direction.Type: GrantFiled: August 6, 2004Date of Patent: September 30, 2008Assignee: Areva T&D SAInventors: Vladimir Gutalj, Andre Doessegger, Hugo Hiltbrunner

Patent number: 6559403Abstract: The three-position, gas-insulated, metal-clad electrical switch inside a metal casing includes first and second break contacts, a fixed grounding contact, and a switching element that is movable in an axial direction to interconnect the break contacts. The first and second break contacts and the fixed grounding contact are superposed in the axial direction, and the switching element is moved by a drive rod which passes through the fixed grounding contact, thereby enabling the switching element to occupy each of the three switching positions including a grounding position in which it connects the first break contact to the fixed grounding contact.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 2001Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: AlstomInventor: Vladimir Gutalj

Patent number: 6271493Abstract: A high voltage disconnector comprising a fixed contact and a movable contact to the latter to produce an electrical connection between a first conductor and a second conductor, the movable contact and the fixed contact forming, when they are in contact with one another, a connector that is at an angle with respect to the first and/or second conductor, such that when the contacts are in contact with one another during operation a Lorentz force prevails which pulls the fixed and movable contacts apart and is transverse to the first or second conductor. The movable contact and the fixed contact are provided with locking devices which, when the contacts are in contact with one another, engage in one another and act in a direction parallel to the Lorentz force which is pulling the fixed and movable contacts apart and is transverse to the first or second contact.Type: GrantFiled: November 9, 1999Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Elin Holec High Voltage B.V.Inventor: Ijsbrand Paulus Johannes Maria Ponsioen

Patent number: 5841087Abstract: The isolating switch (1) contains an isolating switch housing (2) and at least two switching points (18, 19, 20) which are arranged in the isolating switch housing (2), are of axially symmetrical design, and each have one fixed switching element (7, 8, 9) and one switching element (15, 16, 17) which can move along the switching point axis (21, 22, 23). A drive shaft (11) leads into the isolating switch housing (2). From this drive shaft (11), power is transmitted via a gearbox (25) to the movable switching element (15, 16, 17). The gearbox (25) has for each switching point (18, 19, 20) a control cam (26, 27, 28) which is fixedly connected to the movable switching element (15, 16, 17), is aligned transversely with respect to the shaft axis (11) and is displaceable. It also contains a lever (29, . . . 34; 47) which is attached to the drive shaft (11) and interacts with the control cam (26, 27, 28).Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 1997Date of Patent: November 24, 1998Assignee: Asea Brown Boveri AGInventors: Dieter Fuchsle, Markus Zbinden

Patent number: 5650603Abstract: An earthing switch may be used for a metal-clad, high-voltage switchgear insulated with compressed gas. The mobile earthing contact is arranged so as to be insulated from the earthed cladding for measuring purposes. The insulation arrangement of the earthing contact is bypassed by an electrical connection, preferably outside of the cladding to earth the switching device. The electrical connection is disconnected when the earthing contact is connected in the closed position to a measuring device. An additional contact arrangement is provided that electrically bypasses the insulation arrangement and connects the mobile earthing contact to the earthed cladding when the switch is between the closed and open positions. This prevents surges resulting from pre-arcing on the insulation arrangement and possible damage to measuring instruments that may be connected to the earthing switches.Type: GrantFiled: September 30, 1996Date of Patent: July 22, 1997Assignee: Siemens AktiengesellschaftInventors: Dietrich Pfaff, Regina Schmidt, Christian Pircher
