Grounding Switch Patents (Class 218/79)
  • Patent number: 11688569
Abstract: A switch includes a power in contact, a piston, a power out contact, a plurality of flexible locking elements, an earthing contact, and a threaded rod. In a first position, the piston contacts the power in contact and the power out contact. In a second position, the piston contacts the power out contact. In a third position, the piston contacts the earthing contact and the power out contact. The piston comprises an inner threaded section that engages the threaded rod. Rotation of the threaded rod moves the piston along an axis of the switch between the different switch positions. The piston comprises a groove extending in a direction parallel to the axis. Each of the flexible locking elements is configured such that a part of each of the flexible locking elements moves into and out of the groove as the piston is moved along the axis of the switch.

Abstract: A disconnecting/grounding switch for metal-encapsulated, gas-insulated high-voltage switchgear. A first fixed contact is connected to a first inner conductor. A second contact is connected to an inner conductor running at right angles to the first inner conductor. A moving contact member connects the two fixed contacts in one position and connects the second fixed contact with a fixed grounding contact in a second position. The moving contact member is a thrust contact whose path of motion runs at an angle to the first and second inner conductors and which can move linearly in a contact housing that forms the second contact. The two fixed contacts and the grounding contact are in a line. In a first position, the moving contact member can connect the first fixed contact to the contact housing; in a second position, it is located inside the contact housing, and in a third position, it connects the contact housing to the grounding contact.

  • Patent number: 5796060
Abstract: A switching apparatus includes a grounded, insulating gas-filled housing, the housing having a housing wall, and a power circuit-breaker disposed in the housing. The apparatus further includes a current connection for a first busbar, a current connection for a second busbar, and a current connection for a load outgoer. The apparatus further includes a grounding switch disposed in the housing, the grounding switch being connected between the power circuit-breaker and the current connection for the load outgoer, and a busbar disconnector, the busbar disconnector being connected between the current connection of the first busbar and the power circuit-breaker and between the current connection of the second busbar and the power circuit-breaker. An outwardly extended, first tubular flange arrangement is attached over a first opening in the housing wall, and an outwardly extended, second tubular flange arrangement is attached over a second opening in the housing wall.

  • Patent number: 5757614
Abstract: A gas insulated switchgear device of a double bus type which is accommodated in a metal container filled with SF.sub.6 gas includes first and second gas insulated main buses disposed horizontally and substantially in parallel with each other. Bus sectioning units section each of the first and second main buses into first and second sections. The bus sectioning units include auxiliary buses disposed outside of said first and second main buses. A branching bus connects one end of the first main bus with one end of one of the auxiliary buses via a circuit breaker. Another branching bus connects the other end of the first main bus with the other end of the one of the auxiliary buses. Still another branching bus connects one end of the second main bus with one end of another auxiliary bus. A further branching bus connects the other end of the second main bus with the other end of the other auxiliary bus. Potential transformers are provided along the branching buses.

  • Patent number: 5650603
Abstract: An earthing switch may be used for a metal-clad, high-voltage switchgear insulated with compressed gas. The mobile earthing contact is arranged so as to be insulated from the earthed cladding for measuring purposes. The insulation arrangement of the earthing contact is bypassed by an electrical connection, preferably outside of the cladding to earth the switching device. The electrical connection is disconnected when the earthing contact is connected in the closed position to a measuring device. An additional contact arrangement is provided that electrically bypasses the insulation arrangement and connects the mobile earthing contact to the earthed cladding when the switch is between the closed and open positions. This prevents surges resulting from pre-arcing on the insulation arrangement and possible damage to measuring instruments that may be connected to the earthing switches.

  • Patent number: 5578805
Abstract: A metal-enclosed, gas-filled switchgear unit has at least two busbar systems and a circuit breaker which respectively has per pole a pole axis and at least one arcing chamber built into a pole housing constructed as a metal enclosure. The pole axes are arranged perpendicular to a foundation and lie in a first plane. Furthermore, the switchgear unit respectively has an electrically conductive connection, extending along a connecting axis, between the live arcing chamber of the respective pole and each of the busbar systems. A metal-enclosed, gas-filled switchgear unit is provided in which the insulation and the fastening of the arcing chambers of the circuit breaker poles are substantially simplified and reduced in cost. The arcing chamber is connected in a force-closed fashion to the at least two current terminals and the arcing chamber is positioned by these alone in the metal enclosure.
