Abstract: A solid wire is for gas-shielded arc welding, using a shielding gas, and for galvanized steel sheet welding. The solid wire comprises, to the mass of the whole of the solid wire, predetermined amount of C, Si, Mn, P, S, O, and Cr, with the balance consisting Fe and inevitable impurities. The solid wire satisfies “1.0?(percentage by mass of Si+that by mass of Mn)/{100(that by mass of S+that by mass of O}?4.0” and “0.50?percentage by mass of Mn/that by mass of Si?2.00”. The shielding gas is an Ar gas comprising 25 to 40% of CO2 gas. It is achieved to improve spatter-decreasing performance and pore-resisting performance (performance of restraining the generation of porosity defects, such as pits and blowholes).

  • Patent number: 9000334
Abstract: A Bleve (Boiling Liquid Expanding Vapor Explosion) reaction wherein fuel is pumped from a fuel line and is fed through a solenoid valve to a BLEVE reaction chamber. The BLEVE reaction takes place in the bleve chamber, during which a bleve is released and supplied via the bleve outlet nozzle. A thermal housing with embedded electrical resistive wire, is a method and installation for generating sufficient heat causing a bleve. The fuel is heated by the electrical resistive wire as it is moved into the bleve-reaction chamber. As bleved fuel is introduced into the combustion chamber, the latent heat causes the bleve to auto-ignite upon contact with the oxygen producing a blue flame. The cycle of the process is controlled by means of a regulating control. The method described is particularly suited for a bleved fuel valve nozzled burner.

  • Patent number: 8987629
Abstract: A process for closing an opening in a surface of a component, and components formed thereby. The process entails forming a channel in the component surface so that the channel at least partially surrounds an opening at the component surface. An alloy is then deposited in the channel to form a crack-free deposit in the channel. A step is then machined that intersects the opening and is at least partially formed in the deposit. The step defines a recess that is at least partially surrounded by a peripheral portion of the deposit and has a surface recessed into the component surface. A cap is placed in the recess and welded to the peripheral portion of the deposit to define a weld joint that completely closes the opening. The surface of the weld joint is then machined to form a machined surface that is substantially flush with the component surface.

  • Patent number: 6441339
Abstract: A manufacturing method of circuit modules comprising steps of melting a solder on a land by an energy of irradiating laser beam, and pressing an external electrode of an electronic component to a melted solder before the melted solder hardens. This method is capable of connecting the electrode of the component to the land of the substrate using the solder sufficiently heated and melted. A manufacturing apparatus of circuit modules comprises an adsorbing nozzle which adsorbs an electronic component and mounts it on a substrate, an optical system which projects laser beams to a solder preliminarily applied to an electrode of a substrates, and a control device which controls a component mounting and a laser beam irradiation so that the electrode of the electronic component is pressed to the solder melted by an energy of a irradiating laser beam before the melted solder hardens.

  • Patent number: 5908568
Abstract: A connecting pin of a coil, which has an end section with an end section of a winding wire wound thereon with a plurality of turns, is initially provided with a drop of a fluxless soft solder and then arranged in the vicinity of the points of two opposite electrodes. An arc of a specific strength and duration is struck between the electrodes, so that the soft solder is fused and connects the winding wire to the connecting pin. The result is a fluxless soldering of the winding end in conjunction with low thermal loading of the coil former and of the connecting pin.

  • Patent number: 5760371
Abstract: A process is disclosed for repairing leaks in turbine generators that have water cooled stator coils with hollow conductor strands. Such generators have a tendency to leak where the stator coil joins a header. Once a leak is detected the repair is accomplished by following the steps off the invention. First, the header is cut into an outboard section, and into an inboard section that remains attached to the conductor strands. Second, the exposed lead ends of the conductor strands and the attached inboard section are cleaned to remove oxidation. Third, a water-tight braze seal is applied over the lead ends of the conductor strands. And finally, the stator coil and the inboard section are joined to a new outboard section.

  • Patent number: 4716272
Abstract: A method of attaching a connection piece of metal to a metal surface by brazing wherein the required heat is generated by an electric arc. The heat generated by the electric arc is conducted through at least a portion of the connection piece and melts a brazing metal provided between the connection piece and the metal surface. The heat conducting portion of the connection piece prevents direct contact between the electric arc, the metal surface and the brazing metal during melting which prevents disadvantageous thermal actuation of the metal surface. When the current to the electric arc has been disconnected, a mechanical force is applied to the heat conducting portion of the connection piece pressing the latter against the metal surface and pressing out a portion of the brazing metal from underneath the remaining joint-forming surfaces of the connection piece.
