Patent number: 6849838Abstract: A short ring is provided outside a support frame. In the short ring, eddy current is generated in such a direction as to cancel apart of a magnetic flux developed from the exciting coil when it is fed with current, which the part of the magnetic flux leaks to outside. Patent number: 6359267Abstract: An induction heating system that can be used to braze metals and that overcomes many of the disadvantages of conventional brazing systems. The induction heating system improves quality and lowers production cost for many brazing requirements. The system is designed to quickly, accurately and cost effectively heat individual parts, and to replace flame brazing procedures and batch vacuum furnaces. Because the system can braze parts in an inert atmosphere or in no atmosphere (e.g., in a vacuum), no flux or acid cleaning bath is necessary and oxidation on the part is eliminated. Further, by including a gas quenching feature, the system prevents the annealing of parts and produces high quality brazed parts that meet desired hardness specifications.Type: GrantFiled: July 26, 2000Date of Patent: March 19, 2002Assignee: Ameritherm, Inc.Inventors: Dale Wilcox, Girish Dahake

Patent number: 6229124Abstract: A new apparatus for inductively soldering surface-mount, straddle-mount and through-hole type electronic components into a self-soldering PCB (printed circuit board) in an automated fashion utilizing localized Electromagnetic Induction Heating (E.I.H.). Current manufacture technology for packaging electronic components depends on the reflow and wave soldering processes. Both processes heat up to relatively high temperatures the entire assembly, namely its PCB and all the electronic components being soldered into it. Such harsh high-temperature environment frequently causes components damage resulting in rejects and/or demanding rework. With this invention reflow oven and/or wave soldering equipment is not required. During a soldering operation only the leads and pads being soldered are heated but neither the body of said electronic components nor the dielectric material forming said self-soldering PCB and its interconnecting traces are heated.Type: GrantFiled: February 10, 2000Date of Patent: May 8, 2001Inventor: Horacio Andrés Trucco
