Abstract: A method and device for soldering plural electrical connections, in which contact elements have to be soldered to soldered-connection faces positioned on a non-metallic glazing. In the method a soldering tool is used to emit a magnetic field towards the solder spots to heat these by induction. The magnitude and shape of the soldering tool is sized according to the surface area over which plural solder spots that have to be heated simultaneously in a soldering operation are situated. At the same time, the frequency of an AC voltage applied to the loop or to the coil is tailored to the connection geometry and set to 150 kHz at most. Thus, for a high work rate, markedly better heating of the components that need to be soldered is obtained because the low-frequency field lines have a greater depth of penetration into the bodies.

Abstract: The invention relates to an antenna radiation heating (2) to heat a matter by means of resonance with several surface antenna elements (3), each consisting of a carrier surface material (11) and a radiation coating (10) applied thereon which is delimited by two spaced electrical conductors (14, 15) in parallel, with electrical contact as antenna limiter and with which high-frequency electromagnetic radiation can be emitted. Furthermore, this antenna radiation heating (2) comprises a harmonic generator which is coupled to the two electrical conductors (14, 15) of a surface antenna element (3) for an excitation of the radiation coating (10) for emitting an oscillation spectrum within the range of molecular natural frequencies of the matter to be heated. In accordance with the invention, the radiation coating (10) is unilaterally applied to the carrier surface material (11) and forms an element front facing a matter to be heated.

  • Patent number: 6198083
Abstract: A process for heat treating steel wires in which the wires are passed through an induction furnace with induction coils connected in series to a common power supply. No more than one wire passes through any one of the induction coils. The wires are heated to their Curie temperature, where the wires become non-magnetic. This makes the process substantially self-regulating. If one or more wires are heated more rapidly than others, little if any heating of the more rapidly heated wires will occur after they reach their Curie temperature, and all wires will leave the inductive heating furnace at or near their Curie temperature. The system will operate satisfactorily with one or more wires missing. When this happens, for loading purposes or other reasons, the efficiency of the unit degrades but sufficient excess power remains such that heating of the wires that are passing through the system will be relatively unaffected at the design mass flow rate.

The godet jacket is coupled with the primary windings via a defined radial clearance extending between same and the side walls of the primary winding carrier for generating induced currents. The carriers are constructed such that their transformer sheets radially overlie each other in the region of their channel bottom, thereby shielding the magnetic flux outward, in particular toward the coil support.

  • Patent number: 5951903
Abstract: According to the invention, the rear end of a preceding metal piece and a front end of a succeeding metal piece are heated, pressed and joined prior to the finishing hot rolling. An alternating magnetic field running through the metal pieces in the thickness direction thereof is generated in an end region on opposed faces of the respective metal pieces to perform heating. Another alternating magnetic field whose direction is reverse with respect to that of the former alternating magnetic field is partially generated in the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces and in either a region where the metal pieces exist or a region outside width ends of the metal pieces. This assures a uniform heating of the end region on the opposed faces of the metal pieces over their full width to reliably join the both metal pieces to each other.

  • Patent number: 5925278
Abstract: The present invention provides a circuit for heating a heating element to a desired temperature and generating an output from a single common AC power source. First, the AC power is rectified. An inductor and a capacitor form an L section type filter for the DC from the rectifier. The inductor and the capacitor have a resonate frequency that is greater than the AC power frequency. A switch is connected to the heating element. Next, a controller receives a signal that indicates the actual temperature of the heating element along with an indication of the desired temperature. The controller generates an error signal that PWMs the switch thereby controlling the heating element. Another switch is connected to a transformer. A separate controller PWMs the second switch generating the output at the secondary side of the transformer. The two controllers use a pulse width modulating frequency that is greater than the resonate frequency of the inductor and capacitor.
