Patent number: 8875927Abstract: A container includes a lid adapted to seal with a base. The lid and base rims each have vertical segments that mate upon sealing the container. The mating segments form a vertical seal zone. The vertical seal zone has a width extending across the rim surfaces. One or more vent channels are disposed on either or both rims. Each vent channel extends partially into the vertical seal zone. When pressure inside the container reaches a critical level, the lid rises and reduces the width of the seal zone, creating a vent point. Pressurized vapors traveling through the vent channel overcome rim-engaging forces at the vent point and pass through the engaged rims. Once pressure is purged, the lid descends and resumes its sealed arrangement with the base. The rims may respectively include horizontally oriented segments that engage each other to from a horizontal seal zone.Type: GrantFiled: September 23, 2009Date of Patent: November 4, 2014Assignee: Anchor Packaging, Inc.Inventors: Mike Pohlman, Tim Cimmerer

The skirt extends from the bottom surface of the body portion for a distance sufficient to cover the projecting bead of the container rim. An inwardly directed retaining ring is formed on an inside surface of the skirt for engagement with the projecting bead on the container. A vent is formed within the retaining ring to define a flow path past the retaining ring. The vent may be a spacing rib formed on the inside surface of the skirt with one or more flow channels formed within the retaining ring.Type: GrantFiled: January 11, 2011Date of Patent: September 9, 2014Assignee: Sonoco Development, Inc.Inventor: Keith E. Patent number: 6349842Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotatable cover which can be screwed or plugged on and is to be fastened on a stationary connection of a motor vehicle radiator or compensator reservoir of cooling and heating systems. The cover has a screw or plug cap and/or swivel cap and a rotatable engagement part in which a valve in the form of a combined overpressure/underpressure unit is arranged concentrically. The valve has a sealing member which produces a sealing connection with the stationary connection when the cover is applied. When the cover is positioned on the stationary connection, it is possible to prevent by means of a temperature-related control member removal, such as unscrewing or twisting of the cover. The temperature-related control member or a coupling part actuated by means of the temperature-related control member can be moved substantially radially between a coupling position and a release position.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1999Date of Patent: February 26, 2002Inventor: Heinrich Reutter
