  • Patent number: 8936168
Abstract: Closing element for sealing holes subjected to internal pressure includes a hollow cylindrical main body insertable into the hole substantially without play, and a hat-like spreading element pressable into the main body. The spreading element applies radial pressure to the inner wall of the main body in the installed state, wherein the main body is spread and pressed against the wall of the hole. The main body has a closing bottom having a circumferential radial ring surface and a slightly conical cone surface connected thereto. During operation, the closing bottom is pressed against the end face of the spreading element by the internal pressure and is bent over inner and outer edges of the end face and deformed so as to expand radially. This results in strengthened anchoring of the closure in the material of the component, and self-reinforcement of the press-out force required to remove the closure.

  • Patent number: 7993609
Abstract: A container is provided for holding a chemical compound or mixture. Areas are provided on the surface of the container which allow for gaseous by-products from the chemical contained within the container to permeate from a chamber through the surface of the container. A septum is over-molded into the surface of the container. The septum is formed in such a manner that it provides a sealing effect to close an opening in the container.

  • Patent number: 7878360
Abstract: A container for storing and injecting a liquid sealant for sealing and closing a puncture hole of a pneumatic tire includes a container body for storing the sealant. An outlet for injecting the sealant to outside opens in a lid securing portion of the container body, and an outer lid member having a sealant path therethrough is connected to the lid securing portion and communicates the sealant path with an interior space of the container body through the outlet. An inner lid member is press-fitted into the outlet and maintained in a closure position for tightly closing the outlet. The inner lid member can be forced from the closure position into inside of the sealant path, by the pressure of the sealant in the container body and/or by the pressure of gas above the sealant. A connector member connects the inner lid member to the lid securing portion or the outer lid member so as to be movable from the closure position to the interior of the sealant path.

  • Patent number: 7832590
Abstract: An insert for a multiple component container includes a reservoir with an opening defined by a peripheral edge which, in use, is connected to a sealing element (20). In use, the reservoir and the sealing element define a substantially sealed space. The reservoir includes a stationary portion (2) and a movable portion (4), which is connected to the stationary portion and is movable with respect thereto by the action of gas pressure within the reservoir. A discharge opening (6) is formed in the movable portion (4) and a gas leakage path is provided in the reservoir wall. A valve member (14) is connected to the stationary portion (2) and cooperates with the discharge opening (6) and substantially seals it. The application of a greater gas pressure to the interior of the reservoir than to its exterior results in movement of the movable portion (4) away from the stationary portion (2) and thus in the valve member (14) moving out of sealing contact with the discharge opening (6).

  • Patent number: 6729362
Abstract: A grommet for sealing the propellant charging opening in a pressurized dispensing container has a crown portion inside the container, a base portion outside of the container and a resilient neck joining the base and crown. The neck dimensions are such so as to provide three interference fit sealing zones between grommet and container base. The neck has a length less than the lip of the container opening to provide a first interference fit sealing relationship. The neck diameter is greater than the diameter of the lip to provide a second interference fit sealing relationship. The corner between neck and crown is rounded to provide a third interference fit sealing relationship. The grommet has a central opening so that a stretch pin can be inserted to stretch the neck during the injection of propellant. The extended neck lifts the crown from the container and causes the neck to contract to provide a passageway around the neck and under the crown for injected propellant.

  • Patent number: 6669060
Abstract: A valve element may be configured to be mounted in an air intake passage of a container. The valve element may be at least partially elastically deformable. The valve element may include a valving member configured such that, when vacuum pressure inside the container is less than a predetermined threshold differential from atmospheric pressure, the valving member is in sealed contact with a seat formed on the container. The valving member may also be configured such that the valving member moves away from the seat when the predetermined threshold differential is reached, so as to allow air to be taken into the container. By elastic return, the valving member may return to a position in sealed contact with the seat when the vacuum pressure inside the container drops back to less than the predetermined threshold differential. The valve element may be placed in a functional configuration via an elastically irreversible modification thereof during mounting.
