  • Publication number: 20150136770
Abstract: A container includes a container body, a lid member, a first seal valve and a second non-return valve. The lid member is superimposable on the container body to form a storage chamber in the container, and defines therein a first opening and a second opening The first seal valve is disposed on the lid member, normally seals the first opening of the lid member, and is operable to unseal the first opening of the lid member. The second, non-return valve is disposed in the second opening of the lid member to permit air to actively flow out of the storage chamber of the container body upon reaching a predetermined degree of pressure, and to prevent environmental air from being drawn into the storage chamber.

Abstract: A closure safety interlock system is provided for a pressure vessel having a closure assembly with a primary locking system. The closure safety interlock defines a secondary locking system for assuring that the primary locking system may be opened only by following a proper sequence, thereby minimizing misuse of the primary locking system. The closure safety interlock includes a blocking member movable between an engaged position and a disengaged position for blocking movement of a primary lock when in the engaged position and until a release mechanism in the primary lock has been activated. A mechanism is provided for moving the blocking member from the engaged position to the disengaged position once the release mechanism has been activated. A locking plate is movable between a locked and closed position for prohibiting access to the blocking member and an open position for gaining access to the blocking member.

  • Patent number: 8678119
Abstract: A vehicle includes a body component, a rechargeable energy storage system (RESS), a traction motor, a coolant reservoir having an inlet, and a bracket. The traction motor is electrically connected to the RESS and delivers motor torque for propelling the vehicle. A lobed cap covers the inlet. The bracket extends between the lobed cap and the body component. The bracket defines an opening having radially-inward projecting tabs, each of which engages a different axial side wall of the cap between different adjacent lobes of the lobed cap to prevent rotation and removal of the lobed cap. A method includes providing the above bracket, routing a lobed cap of a coolant reservoir through the opening after installing the cap to the reservoir such that the tabs engage a different axial side wall of the cap between different adjacent lobes of the lobed cap.

  • Publication number: 20130193142
Abstract: A cell cap including a base, a top, a connector, one or more wings between the base and the top, and a lock. The top may engage the base and be moveable relative to the base. The connector may be moveable relative to only one of the base and the top. Each wing may have a first portion engaging the connector and a second portion engaging the cell. When pressure within the cell exceeds pressure outside the cell, the lock may lie in a first position, preventing relative movement between the base and the top. When pressure within the cell does not exceed pressure outside the cell, the lock may lie in a second position, allowing relative movement between the base and the top to cause the connector to move the first portion of the wing, thereby causing the second portion of the wing to move.

  • Patent number: 8245880
Abstract: A dispensing closure with a rotational stop that limits the rotation of the closure and generally prevents removal of the closure from the container. The dispensing closure may include a cap body operably engaging a fitment and a container finish. When the cap body is rotated about the container finish, the interior abutment surface of the recessed squeeze pad engages a lug stop located on the container finish so as to limit the rotation, thereby preventing removal of the cap body from the container finish.

  • Patent number: 8087529
Abstract: A safety closure for steam-pressurized containers of household appliances, such as steam irons, steam cleaners and the like. The safety closure is provided with an inner part that can be screwed onto the filling hole of the container, and with an outer part in the shape of a grip cap. A coupling element is provided between the inner part and the outer part and can be axially displaced against the effect of a spring by a drive controlled by the internal container pressure in such a manner that the outer part and the inner part are interconnected in a rotationally fixed manner when the container is not pressurized The connection being neutralized when the container is pressurized. The aim of the invention is to provide a safety closure whose components that are exposed to the pressure are more solid and therefore function more reliably and whose drive at the same time serves as a protection from an inadmissibly high excess pressure.

  • Patent number: 6789692
Abstract: A container is provided having corresponding shells that mate together about a joint to create an enclosed airtight container. A valve seat is formed on the exterior of a shell adjacent the joint. The valve seat has an opening in communication with the container interior. A latch assembly is used to secure the shells in a closed position. The assembly includes a latch body which is attached to a shell by a hinge fastener close to said joint. The inside face of the latch body is provided with a valve gasket having a curved outer face that is aligned and sealingly engageable with the valve seat. When the latch is closed, the gasket will seal against the valve seat. When the latch is dislodged from its connection to the other shell, the gasket will be simultaneously removed from the valve seat and allow air to flow through the opening. This action permits equalization of any pressure differentials between ambient pressure and the pressure in the container interior.

  • Patent number: 6349842
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotatable cover which can be screwed or plugged on and is to be fastened on a stationary connection of a motor vehicle radiator or compensator reservoir of cooling and heating systems. The cover has a screw or plug cap and/or swivel cap and a rotatable engagement part in which a valve in the form of a combined overpressure/underpressure unit is arranged concentrically. The valve has a sealing member which produces a sealing connection with the stationary connection when the cover is applied. When the cover is positioned on the stationary connection, it is possible to prevent by means of a temperature-related control member removal, such as unscrewing or twisting of the cover. The temperature-related control member or a coupling part actuated by means of the temperature-related control member can be moved substantially radially between a coupling position and a release position.

  • Patent number: 6223923
Abstract: A safety pressure release locking gas cap is shown. The gas cap is comprised of a handle element, and a plug element. The plug element is rotatably housed in the handle element, and has external threads. A lock element is contained between the handle element and the plug element and can be used to lock the two components together. Locking arises by rotation of the lock element, for example by a key, about an axis of rotation which is a first manner of movement. The lock element has also a second manner of movement, which is axially along the axis of rotation. Movement in the second manner moves a valve from a pressure containing position to a pressure relief position. According to the present invention the movement in the first manner occurs independently from movement in the second manner.
