Patent number: 6156972Abstract: A bezel attaches to a chassis via pins that register the alignment of the bezel with respect to the chassis, and snap latches that retain the bezel to the chassis. The bezel of the present invention has one or more molded pins and one or more snap latches. The pins are tapered and extend out from the chassis farther than the snap latches. To assemble the bezel to a chassis, the pins are aligned with corresponding holes in the chassis. Since the pins are longer than the snap latches, the pins are easily positioned and partially inserted into the holes before it is necessary to depress the snap latches. Furthermore, since the pins are tapered, initial insertion of the pins into the holes is simplified. After aligning the pins and partially inserting the pins into the holes, the snap latches are depressed, thereby allowing the snap latches to be easily inserted into corresponding slots of the chassis as the bezel is pressed flush against the chassis. Thereafter, the snap latches are released.Type: GrantFiled: April 30, 1999Date of Patent: December 5, 2000Assignee: Hewlett-Packard CompanyInventor: Michael Wortman

Patent number: 5895888Abstract: A cover plate device for covering a wall mounted wiring device having no visible fasteners when installed. An attachment plate is attached over and to a wiring device which has been mounted in and to a ganged box mounted adjacent an aperture in a wall. Latch pawls are arranged at the opposite longitudinal ends of the attachment plate. A cover plate member overlies the wiring device and ganged box and provides a series of recesses to receive the associated pawls in locking arrangement. Because of the number of recesses available at each pawl location, the cover plate can still be installed even if the wall is not flat or even. The attachment plate and cover plate member can be provided with various types and numbers of apertures, and the number of pawls and groups of recesses employed depend on the size of the attachment and cover plate members.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1997Date of Patent: April 20, 1999Assignee: Leviton Manufacturing Co., Inc.Inventors: Alfredo Arenas, Anthony Tufano

Patent number: 5886299Abstract: This invention relates to an inlet valve assembly for central vacuum systems. In particular, this invention relates to an inlet valve assembly including an inlet face plate, a mounting plate, having a deformable mounting flange, and an electrical receptacle integrally formed with a high voltage wire. In some uses, the inlet valve assembly also can include a low voltage wire which can be used to complete a low voltage circuit to initiate a central vacuum motor. The mounting plate can accommodate the electrical receptacle in a temporary position and the inlet face plate can rear mount the receptacle into a locked position where the receptacle is securely attached to the inlet face plate. In this manner, the receptacle may be mounted to the inlet face plate even though one end of the high voltage wire is already wired into an electrical box.Type: GrantFiled: September 4, 1997Date of Patent: March 23, 1999Assignee: Canplas Industries, Ltd.Inventor: John Frederick Ward
