The cover includes a body portion and a movable door that covers and exposes an opening in the filler neck. The protrusions on the door can be easily moved to an open position by pressing a tip of a fuel nozzle against the protrusions. The cap is formed with top and bottom members, each member having an outwardly bevelled surface opposing a corresponding surface on the other member. An elastic O-ring is positioned between the two surfaces. The top member and base member are held together by an axially extending shaft, with a spring biasing apart the two members. The shaft is connected in a hinged manner to a cam lever. Activation of the cam lever brings the two opposing surfaces together, forcing the O-ring outward to form a seal with the sleeve. The filler cap and the sleeve's inner wall are provided with additional features which maintain the filler cap in the sleeve.

    Abstract: An improved fuel filler cap for fuel tanks of motor vehicles is disclosed. A cap body member is attached by an actuator rod to an anchor disc, which mates with a tank adapter. When an actuator handle is rotated from a free to a locked position, the anchor disc is engaged with the adapter and drawn towards the underside of the cap, thus insuring a good seal between the cap and the adapter. A first spring disposed between the actuator rod and anchor disc limits the pressure in the tank, such that if an overpressure occurs, the cap is permitted to lift entirely off the adapter, quickly relieving the overpressure. A second spring is preferably provided to positively urge the anchor disc away from the cap upon release of the handle, providing superior operating feel and over-center 10 locking of the handle. The outer surface of the cap is configured so that impacts are absorbed by the adapter, preventing leakage of the cap.

    Abstract: The present invention provides apparatus which operates the door of a chamber that is capable of maintaining pressure within the chamber. The invention includes an improved closure for cooperating to move the door among positions in which it confronts the opening of the chamber, seals the chamber and allows access to the interior of the chamber. The preferred embodiment of the present invention includes a driving member and an operating member which have surfaces which cooperate to move the operating member in two separate directions. Movement of the operating member in the first direction secures the door in its position in which it confronts the chamber opening but in which it cannot seal the chamber. Movement of the operating member in the second direction causes the door to be secured against the perimeter of the chamber opening, thus sealing the chamber against fluid flow from between the perimeter opening and the door.

    Abstract: In accordance with the present invention a hatch cover opening and closing assembly is provided including a locking handle having a yoke pivotably mounted about a vertically extending shaft located in the center portion of the cover. The shaft extends downwardly through a guide which depends from the cover. The guide includes at least one generally vertical indexing slot. Below the cover a laterally extending pin and a plurality of radially extending locking arms are attached to the shaft. A plurality of locking lugs are mounted on the internal surface of the coaming. The shaft is rotatable by the handle to move the locking arms into and out of engagement with the locking lugs. However the pin must be located within the indexing slot to move the locking arms vertically into engagement with the locking lugs. When the shaft is rotated so that the pin is located out of the slot, but in engagement with the guide, the handle may be used to pivot the cover about a hinge into open position.

    Abstract: A transformer is provided that utilizes a substantially fully integral, generally outwardly convex casing or tank for enclosing an electrical transformer in a dielectric environment. An easily inserted and removed cover assembly employs an operating stem, a domed cover member, a clamping member, a nut carrying bracket member and a spring that may be adjusted to a desired pressure relief setting by rotating the stem in one direction. Rotation of the stem in an opposite direction releases its clamping setting and loosens the parts of the cover assembly in such a manner as to permit it to be easily and quickly removed from the open portion by tilting it with respect to and out of the open portion.

A selectively displaceable sealing cap guards against leakage from the vents when the device is shut down. A reflective surface over the outer face of the device provides an opaque appearance when it is shut down.
