Abstract: An externally threaded closure plug for tightly closing off the internally threaded opening in shipping and storage containers such as drums, pails and the like. The plug is formed as a cup having a bottom wall and threaded cylindrical sidewall terminating in a circumferentially enlarged rim. Immediately beneath the rim of the plug is a gasket seat defined by the undersurface of the plug rim, the plug sidewall and an annular gasket retaining lip lying in a plane parallel to the undersurface of the plug rim. In use, the plug is screwed into and out of a container wall opening, having an internally threaded portion and an unthreaded portion, the sealing gasket being compressed between the unthreaded opening portion and the plug gasket seat and lying in close proximity to the internal thread. The gasket seat acts to prevent interengagement of the sealing gasket and the opening internally threaded portion.

  • Patent number: 6793088
Abstract: A container and method for preventing leakage therefrom through isolating deformation in the container caused by external forces. The container comprises a container wall having an opening therein, the opening capable of receiving a closure bushing with a sealing member wedged between the closure bushing and the container wall, and a weakened portion of the container wall not in wedged engagement with the sealing member capable of bending in response to an external force so as not to deform the portion of the container wall in wedged engagement with the sealing member.

  • Patent number: 6783020
Abstract: A cup that is used for children that transitions them from sippy cups to conventional drinking cups. The cup does not require any suction by the child when drinking yet is spill proof when locked for transit. The cup features a reservoir, a top and a lid. Within the top is a central passage and a plate that contains vents. When closed, the lid is flush against the plate and prevents any liquid from leaking. When the lid is rotated open, a gap is exposed between the lid and plate to allow liquid to flow from the reservoir and through the vents to the child's mouth. Regardless of whether the lid is opened or closed, the lid always remains below the top rim of the top.

Abstract: A opening assembly (10) suitable for use on a can for containing carbonated beverages. The assembly (10) comprises a main part (14) with an oval opening (16). A flange (18) is provided around the underside of the opening (16), with a height inversely proportional to the diameter of the opening (16) at any point. A closure member (20) is provided comprising an upper part (14), cylindrical body part (30) which sliding fits through the opening (16), and an engagement member (34) on its underside. In a closed condition the engagement member (34) engages against the tallest part of the flange (18) to sealingly close the assembly (10). The closure member (20) can be rotated until the engagement member (34) is not engageable with the flange (18), and the member (20) can then be removed from the opening (16) to open the assembly (10). The member (20) can be replaced in the opening (16) and rotated to reclose the assembly (10).

The tumbler has multiple wall construction, wherein the inner two walls (114, 116) define an insulating volume (118) therebetween that may be partially evacuated. The valved lid assembly includes an upwardly biased valve (240), near the top of the lid assembly, that may be moved from a closed position wherein the valve abuts a valve seat (214) in the lid assembly, and an open position wherein the valve is spaced apart from the valve seat. A non-skid base (102) with integral, upwardly extending grip elements provides a grip to facilitate handling of the tumbler.

Abstract: A cap arrangement reseals a beverage container having a top with an aperture that can be opened to discharge the beverage and a rim with an inner surface around the top, in particular, carbonated soda can. The arrangement has a main cap for engagement over the beverage container top, for covering the beverage container top, a seal member connected hermetically to the main cap and extending toward the beverage container top and a locking mechanism connected to the main cap for fixing the main cap to the beverage can with sufficient force to resist pressure from, and to maintain pressure in the beverage container. The seal member has an annular pressure sealing portion adapted to engage against, and hermetical seal with the inner surface of the beverage container rim. The arrangement may also include an enclosure for receiving the beverage container. The enclosure may be insulated and form part of the locking mechanism which may be screw threads between the main cap and the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6659302
Abstract: A leak proof coffee mug lid (20) is taught that utilizes a lid body (22) with a aperture (24) in the middle, which includes valve positioning indexing shoulders (26). The body has a number of outlet ports (28) for dispensing coffee or liquid. A valve guide plate (42) is disposed within the aperture which includes an upwardly protruding push ring (54) and a gasketed valve plate (52) that is slideably positioned within the push ring. A spring loaded twist knob (64) is rotatably located within a top portion of the aperture. When the twist knob is rotated, within the indexing shoulders, the valve plate is urged downwardly, disengaging the valve plate from the lid body creating a flow path around the valve plate and through the outlet ports. This flow path permits coffee to be supplied to the user at any orientation around the lid. When the twist knob is rotatably reversed, the valve plate returns to its at rest position, under spring compression, securing the liquid in a leak proof manner within the mug.
