  • Patent number: 4832221
Abstract: This cap is intended especially for a bottle or a container with a neck and is designed to be fastened to the latter in the conventional way by means of a thread or as a result of force-fitting and for this purpose has relative to the neck an outer skirt (1) and an inner skirt (2). According to the invention, this cap is provided with a pouring orifice (3) which can be closed sealingly and opened so as to ensure a flow variable on demand, as a result of the sliding movement of a flap (5) held laid against it by means of a slideway and fixed to the top (4) of the cap on the opposite side (8) to the pouring orifice (3) by means of a folded part (7) which is retractable and concealable as a result of finger operation.

  • Patent number: 4828944
Abstract: The present invention relates to a thin battery-containing structure for an electronic apparatus which includes a lock pin provided on a flexible arm of a battery holder. The lock pin is guided to a predetermined position by a guide/lock groove in a case by pressing a battery holder inward for installing a battery in the battery container of the case. The lock pin is disengaged by the guide/lock groove when further inward force is applied. Upon removal of such force, the battery holder is pressed out of the battery container.

  • Patent number: 4765548
Abstract: Garbage disposal apparatus of the type used in fast food restaurants for receiving refuse from food trays has a garbage-receiving cabinet with a vertically slidable door panel operated by a pedal-actuated mechanism, permitting two-handed handling of the food trays. The door panel is retracted by pedal action, leaving an unobstructed access opening available for assured, non-spilling sanitary dumping, as long as the pedal is depressed. The mechanism is supported protectedly and visibly in the space provided between two parallel vertical panels which together form the receiving cabinet front, the foremost of the two panels being transparent. Also positioned in the space between the two front panels is a sound-generating system, activated by the movement of either the door panel or the mechanism moving it.

  • Patent number: 4752017
Abstract: A tensioning device for a sliding gate on the nozzle of a metallurgical vessel includes for the spring mounting of the tensioning device between a gate housing and a housing cover by means of clamping units that connect such two members and that are hinged, to the housing and cross under housing cover 30 bending springs as hinging shafts for clamping units. This results in a simple construction of the tensioning device due to the two modes of operation of the bending springs.

  • Patent number: 4752539
Abstract: A receiver for a laser transmitter for use in surveying, comprising a housing and a sensor module pivotably mounted on the housing so that, by pivoting the sensor module relative to the housing, the device can detect a laser signal coming from sources at various angles to the housing. Also, a battery receptacle comprising a housing which defines a cavity and an opening at one end of the cavity for receiving a battery. First and second recesses are formed at the other end of said cavity and are shaped to receive terminals on a battery which is inserted in the cavity. First and second electrically conductive springs are mounted in the first and second slots, respectively. A door is mounted on the housing to close the opening and to retain a battery in the cavity.

  • Patent number: 4733017
Abstract: A safety improvement in cover plates for electrical outlets. A cover plate for electrical outlets having sets of a spring-loaded sliding traverse plates which shift to open and close electrical wall outlets used in residential, commercial, and industrial locations. The sliding spring-loaded traverse plates being positioned between sets of tracks which are laterally parallel to outlet holes located in the cover plate, and each traverse plate having a hole which may be manually positioned to be in line with outlet holes located in the cover plate. When holes in the traverse plates and the cover plates are in line, the prongs of male terminals may be inserted into the female recepticle. When the male terminal is removed from the female recepticle, the traverse plates automatically spring into a closed positions thereby shielding the said female recepticle, which thereby prevents a child from being electricuted by sticking a small metal object into female electrical outlets.

  • Patent number: 4614270
Abstract: A compact magnetic tape cassette in which dust is prevented from entering the cassette and contaminating the tape, and which is especially suited for digital recording. The magnetic tape cassette includes two slidable guard panels, slidable to close a central opening in the cassette into which, when the guard panels are open, the tape is engaged with the recording or playback head. The guard panels are spring biased inwardly to normally close the opening. The edges of the guard panels may have recesses and protrusions to ensure a tight closure. The guard panels may be urged closed by compression springs arranged outwardly of each of the panels, or by a tension spring connected between the two panels.

  • Patent number: 4538729
Abstract: In a container for use in the storage of recording media, the container comprising a housing and at least one transport slider which receives the recording media and which is movable in the housing between an inserted and a recording media removal position, the transport slider is locked against the bias of an ejection spring by cooperating coupling and cam members. Unlocking is accomplished by moving the transport slider in the insertion direction from the locked position while locking is accomplished by moving the transport slider in the insertion direction until resistance to further insertion is encountered. The locking mechanism does not employ any spring elements which are in a stressed condition in either the locked or unlocked positions.

  • Patent number: 4057167
Abstract: A valved closure for a disposable drinking receptacle containing a consumable beverage is disclosed. The valved receptacle closure comprises a thin plastic cover having a peripheral groove adapted to sealingly engage with the rim of a drinking receptacle and a drinking opening therein through which the beverage is consumed. A slide valve is received in a recess formed in the cover and is movable into a closed position over the drinking opening. A releasable latch mechanism cooperates with the valve to secure the valve in its closed position against the force of a resilient member, such as a spring. When the latch is released, the resilient member urges the valve into its open position exposing the drinking opening to permit drinking therefrom.

  • Patent number: 3967748
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a drinking receptacle and valve means wherein: hot or cold liquids may be safely contained and carried during intermittent drinking such that the liquids cannot be spilled and in the case of hot liquids the valve means is manually operable to open the drinking valve to allow drinking of liquid from the receptacle or container. The valve means comprising a lost motion mechanism coupled with a manually operable plunger such that the manually operable plunger first opens a relief valve to relieve steam and pressure from the interior of the container whereupon the plunger continues its motion to open the drinking valve so as to allow drinking of contents from the receptacle after steam and pressure has been relieved therefrom and to thereby avoid the danger of causing hot coffee or other beverages to gush from the drinking valve when opened.
