  • Publication number: 20130146605
Abstract: A CNG or LNG storage containment tank is formed from four substantially vertical hollow tubular walls with first and a second ends positioned approximately 90 degrees apart. Eight horizontal hollow tubular walls interconnect and are in in fluid communication with the respective vertical tubular wall ends to form a six-sided cube-shaped tank configuration defining an interior fluid chamber. A tank support connected to the outer surfaces of the tubular walls and configured to reinforce the tank against loading arising from dynamic movement of fluid within the fluid chamber. In one example, bulkheads are positioned inside the horizontal tubular walls to reduce the sloshing of fluid through the tubular walls and thus the resulting sloshing loads. In another example, a plurality of gusset plates are positioned in a space between the tubular walls at an interior of the tank and connected between the tubular walls to further reinforce the tank.

  • Publication number: 20130087569
Abstract: A Tank and Pressure Vessel Skirt Ratchet Prevention Device for the reduction or elimination of relative deflection of a tank or vessel (29) skirt (25) is presented. In vertical tank or vessel (29) design where the tank shell (23) and the tank or vessel (29) bottom (22) are connected together by a knuckle (24) it is common to place a skirt (25) and skirt base plate (26) under the shell. The skirt (25) and skirt base plate (26) support the tank or vessel (29) structure, product and transmit these and environmental loads and anything on tank shell (23) into the foundation (21). Cyclic loads change the diameter of the skirt, (25) the tank shell (23) and skirt base plate (26). The addition of a ratchet prevention member (27) or an anti-friction device (30) reduces relative deflection and fatigue at these locations.

The insertion profile can be inserted into the clamping channel through the entry. When the foil that is wrapped around the insertion profile is under tension, the insertion profile is retained in the clamping channel by the protrusions.

Abstract: An additional containment system for a fluid containment vessel includes an outer section, an inner section, and a monitoring system. A plurality of independent and distinct zones of interstitial space are positioned between the outer section and the inner section. The monitoring system is connected to and separately monitors a pressure in each of the zones. A divider plate is attached to both the inner section and the outer section and divides a first zone from a second zone. Upon detecting a leak, the monitoring system provides an indication as to the leak being in the outer section or in the inner section, and upon detecting a leak, the monitoring system also provides an indication as to which of the zones the leak is detected.

Abstract: A security device protects the vulnerable portions or accessories of a bulk storage tank or container against unauthorized access. The device includes a housing that covers the vulnerable portions of the tank, the housing having two or more lockable doors that selectively permit access to the tank or container via two or more respective apertures. A first door is openable after unlocking a readily-accessible lock, while the second movable door is openable after an elongate lock member that is positioned internally within the housing is moved to an unlocking position. The elongate lock member can be moved to its unlocking position after the first door is opened. Certain tank operations, such as dispensing fuel, may be carried out after unlocking and opening a single door, while other operations, such as refilling the tank, may be accomplished after opening a second door once the first door has been opened.
