Paint Tray Patents (Class 220/570)
  • Publication number: 20100270313
Abstract: An open-topped paint tray includes an upwardly-opening paint-retaining cavity defined by a pair of sidewalls, a pair of end walls, and an imperforate bottom wall. The cavity includes a main cavity with an arcuate bottom wall and a secondary cavity having a straight, downwardly inclined bottom wall. A hollow stiffening rib having a gradual ā€œSā€ shape is formed integrally with the paint tray bottom wall and enables a user to hold the paint tray in one hand. A roller cover wash shield releasably engages the paint tray and defines a downwardly-opening cavity that together with the upwardly-opening paint retaining cavity provides a primary cavity for cleaning a paint roller cover. A flap formed in the roller cover wash shield admits a wand having a nozzle that spins and cleans a paint roller cover, positioned within the primary cavity, with water under pressure.

Abstract: The new liner is the first ever to be produced for 18 inch roller pans. It enables painters to drop the new liner in the 18 inch roller pan, add paint and begin painting immediately. Painters can switch colors much faster than before by simply tying off the top of the liner, with included rubber band, and replace with a new liner and paint color. They can then switch back to the previous color if needed for second application or touch-up. The liner are thick so the paint will not dry out when sealed at the top. This enables the liners to be re-used several times. When finished clean up is much faster and neater.

Abstract: The present invention 10 discloses a deep-set paint tray 22 having a cover 24 with a lip 32 positioned on the periphery for engaging the lip 26 of the deep-set paint roller pan 22. The deep-set paint roller pan 22 has a depth on the shallow end exceeding the diameter of a paint roller handle 34 thereby providing means for positioning a paint roller 18 within the tray prior to sealing the cover 24 to the tray. The present invention 10 eliminates the need to clean the pan 22 and the roller 18 intermittently during a painting job. In addition, the pan 22 and roller 18 are more environmentally friendly because the pan and roller do not need to be cleaned since the cover 24 hermetically seals to the deep-set paint roller pan, therefore enabling the paint 14 to be stored with the roller in the tray for extended periods of time.

Abstract: A paint tray liner system and method uses a paint tray and a paint tray liner. The paint tray liner is a sheet of flexible material with an adhesive layer disposed on one side. The adhesive removably adheres the flexible sheet to the inside surface of the paint tray, so as to form a barrier between liquid paint in the tray and the inside surface of the tray. After use, the liner is peeled away from the paint tray and discarded with any paint or paint residue that remains, substantially reducing the need to clean the paint tray.

Abstract: The present invention is a container for draining a liquid from a wet, tapered paintbrush so that the bristles do not deleteriously flair upon drying. The single-piece container includes a draining sleeve section and a catch pan section. The draining sleeve has an open upper sleeve end and an open or partially-open lower sleeve end. The panels of the draining sleeve form a wedge-shaped drainage channel therebetween, corresponding to the tapered shape of the bristle end of the paintbrush.

  • Patent number: 6622884
Abstract: This invention comprises a uniquely shaped small paint tray for edger trimmers and pad painters in general with walls extending upwardly from a base and an inclined distribution portion or ramp extending upwardly from the middle of the base and terminating in an upper ledge at a spaced interval from a rear wall. The distribution ramp includes a plurality of spaced raised chevron shaped ridges that distribute the paint on the edger pad. The ramp terminates at a vertical ledge spaced from the rear wall to wipe paint from the pad, which returns into the tray rather than fouling the end wall. A spout is formed in the rear wall between raised portions of the side and rear walls to save and pour paint that accumulates on the base. Side walls join the forward and rear walls. A cover is provided with channels, which fit over and engage mating channels in the base and include flanges having projecting elements, which engage recesses in the cover in a secure fit.

  • Patent number: 6622340
Abstract: A paint tray that can be used in the vertical as well as horizontal position to hold paint for use with a roller. Formed longitudinally inside the tray is an inclined bottom surface designed to return excess paint to the basin when the paint tray is disposed horizontally. Formed on the inclined surfaces is a plurality of parallel raised contact surfaces that provides a directional contact surface used to remove excess paint from the roller and return the excess paint to the basin. The length of the inclined surface is sufficient to create freeboard for use in the vertical position without risk of spillage. The paint tray is equipped with a pair of legs attached to its distal end that allows the paint tray to rest vertically on the rung(s) of a ladder or step(s) of a stepladder, or horizontally on the ladder shelf as traditional paint trays. Aligned longitudinally on the distal end of the paint tray is a rigid handle for easy transport of the paint tray in the vertical position.
