Corner Fold Patents (Class 220/62.1)
  • Patent number: 9016497
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for forming a package by moulding a cardboard blank in such a manner that a margin area (2) of the blank, surrounding a middle portion (1) of the blank, is bent upwards to form side walls of the package while the middle portion forms a bottom of the package. The cardboard blank prior to moulding is provided with at least one area (4) of reduced bending stiffness being located in a transition zone (3) between the side walls and the bottom. The package is moulded from the blank so that the at least one area (4) of reduced bending stiffness is located in the bended areas between the side walls and the bottom and extend in the running direction of the bend. The invention further relates to a package and a package blank that can be used for forming said package.

  • Patent number: 8733573
Abstract: A receptacle is formed by folding a single sheet metal blank to define a floor, a front wall, a rear wall, and two side walls. The walls are joined to one another at each corner of two adjacent walls by providing a mounting tab foldable relative to one of the wall and a tongue on the other wall to receive and retain the mounting tab by interlocking connection of mating connections. Apertures for hooking the receptacle on a wall are located in the rear wall in alignment with corresponding apertures in the mounting tabs at the rear for increased strength. Each mounting tab includes a first portion which interlocks with the tongue and a second portion which is considerably longer than the first portion to redirect forces which might otherwise tend to urge the tongues to release the mounting tabs therefrom.

  • Patent number: 8381471
Abstract: Material engineered with outer flat and inner cushioned layers for fabricating shipping and gift boxes of various sizes to handle items of diverse dimensions. Thin, strong sheet that will remember a right angle bend after scoring or hand-flexing, molded or bonded to inner surface grid of right-angle, equal-sized pyramid shapes covering the entire surface that will serve to cushion fragile items placed inside a variable sized box made from the subject material. The material will be available in different size sheets and pyramid sizes, depending the dimensions and weight of the items to be boxed. The right angle pyramids will allow easy scoring and bending of the material, and each right angle formed for the box under construction will have one right angle pyramid abut another, forming a larger right angle pyramid that along with the bend in the material sheet will afford great rigidity to the finished box.

  • Patent number: 7878362
Abstract: A method of making a multiple ply slotted partition for use in a slotted partition assembly is provided. The slots of the partitions are engaged with each other at a plurality of intersections. The partitions are made by folding over a partition blank and securing a foam portion of the folded partition blank to itself. The foam may be heated before being cooled to secure opposed plies of the multiple ply partition together. The opposed plies of the partition are fused or parent welded together.

  • Patent number: 7560155
Abstract: A sheet of material (21, 61, 81) formed for control bending along a bend line (23, 63) while maintaining a continuous web of material (26) across the bend line (23, 63). The sheet has at least one groove (22, 62, 82) formed therein with a central groove portion (24, 64, 84) extending in the direction of and positioned proximate to a desired bend line (23, 63). The groove is formed with a continuous web of material (26) at a bottom of the groove (22, 62, 82) and has a configuration defining at least one bending strap (27, 67) extending across the bending line (23, 63) at the end of the groove with a centerline (28) of the bending strap (27, 67) oriented obliquely across the bend line (23, 63) so that a balancing of the forces during bending of the web along the central portion (24, 64, 84) of the grooves and bending of the oblique bending strap occur and control the location of bending of the sheet.

  • Patent number: 7270245
Abstract: The present invention is directed to a container comprising a first piece of mesh material and at least one separate second piece of mesh material. The first piece of mesh is bent to form a bottom wall and a first pair of sidewalls. The second piece of material forms a second pair of sidewalls. When the pieces are joined together, a basket portion with an upwardly-extending opening is formed. The basket portion may further include a runner portion that may be a separate rail connected to the basket portion, thus forming a drawer. When the container is used with a drawer system including a frame, the runner portion is slidably received in a pair of frame runners. This allows the drawer to move with respect to the frame between retracted and extended positions. The present invention is also directed to a method for making such containers.

  • Publication number: 20030234252
Abstract: A mailing or shipping container, made of corrugated cardboard, is formed from a single scored piece of corrugated cardboard that when folded provides multiple layers of support at the corners of the box providing extra strength for protection against crushing. The container is constructed so as to permit folding in such a way as to be self locking and has pressure sensitive adhesive means applied to interior surfaces for sealing the container when folded. The mailing or shipping container has added layers of cardboard at the rear corners and added layers of cardboard at the front corners to provided increased protection from crushing, depending on the aspect ratio of the final assembled container. All layers are foldably deployed and implemented from a single sheet blank of substantially rectangular corrugated cardboard, by defining suitable scores and cuts in the blank material.
