Abstract: A portable, water-filled barrier system includes a plurality of water-fillable modules, each module being internally divided into cells that emulates a section of a sandbag dike or wall. Adjacent modules are interconnected by fastening mechanisms, such as loops attached to fronts or sides of the modules and connected by straps or clamps. Automatic valves can seal openings between the filled cells, so that a punctured cell will not cause cells below and behind to deflate. In embodiments, the barrier can be initially filled with air, positioned, and then filled with water while the air escapes through a pressure valve. A manifold can be used to simultaneously fill a plurality of cells. A flexible sheet can be installed beneath and in front of the assembled barrier so as to inhibit leakage of water under or between the cells.

Abstract: The container of the present invention provides a container with a décor-displaying exterior. The container comprises a transparent exterior portion, a waterproof interior liner portion, and a connection portion. The invention may additionally include a base portion. A number of sizes, shapes, and materials may be used in the construction of such a container, as dictated by the desired end result and intended use. The container thus allows a user to modify the external appearance of the container by inserting material between the external portion and the internal portion. The container obtains a “finished” look by use of the connection portion.

Abstract: A process for the production of a container (1) comprising an outer container (2), an inner bag (3) disposed therein and a pressure equalisation opening (10) disposed in the outer container (2), and also a container (1) produced according to this process, is described, wherein firstly a pre-moulding, comprising two coaxial tubes, is first produced by co-extrusion with the help of a blow mould and with an outwardly-projecting base seam (5) being formed. The process is to form a pressure equalisation opening (10) in the outer container (2) of the container (1) without endangering the integrity of the container (1), wherein a lower wastage rate and higher productivity are to be achieved. This is attained by a process wherein the base seam (5) is partially cut off and a force which acts in the direction of the seam is introduced into the pre-moulding, which still has a temperature of 40° C. to 70° C.

Abstract: The present invention provides a receptacle for a therapeutic fluid susceptible to deterioration on exposure to a gas such as oxygen or carbon dioxide. The receptacle has walls of sheet material each including at least one layer forming a barrier essentially impermeable to such gas, and a seal sealing the walls together in a region thereof. A transfer tube is sealed in the seal having a proximal end in the receptacle, a distal end accessible from outside the receptacle, a flow passage extending between said proximal and distal ends, and a closure blocking flow through the flow passage adapted to be pierced by a tubular needle for transfer of therapeutic through the needle. The transfer tube and closure are essentially impermeable to said gas.

  • Patent number: 6361633
Abstract: A method and device for producing a two chamber pressure pack comprised of an outer container (1) and an inner sack (2) which are glued in an edge area. After inserting the inner sack into the outer container, the edge area of the inner sack is expanded by means of a tool, said tool being guided into said area, and is pressed against the inner surface of the edge area of the outer container. Afterwards, the edge areas which are connected to one another are mutually bordered by the outer container and inner sack. A valve cover is placed on the bordering edge in a sealed manner. In order to be able to uniformly expand the edge area of the inner sack, a compressible elastic body (5) is used as a tool, said body being arranged approximately vertical in relation to the opening plane. When the inner sack is being inserted into the outer container, the outer periphery of said body is smaller than that of the inner wall of the inner sack edge area.

Abstract: An evacuatable storage unit that includes a substantially rigid container having an open upper end, a flexible air tight liner attached to the inside of the container, and a port installed in a surface of the liner that allows air to pass out of the liner and prevents air from entering the liner. The liner has an upper portion that extends out beyond the open upper end of the container. The liner upper portion terminates in an opening for inserting compressible articles into the liner. The opening is closable to form an air tight seal.
