  • Patent number: 11713848
Abstract: A cryogenic dewar may include an inner tank and an outer tank. The cryogenic dewar may further include one or more longitudinal stiffeners coupled to the inner tank at locations of stress that provide resistance to such stress. The inner vessel may include a combination of longitudinal stiffeners to allow the dewar to meet governmental imposed regulations on strength and safety of the dewar without increasing the weight of the dewar or to increase the amount by weight of cryogenic liquid that can be transported under governmental imposed regulations, or both, by, with the addition of longitudinal stiffeners, simultaneously increasing the grade of the material of the inner tank.

  • Patent number: 8905260
Abstract: A pressure vessel includes: a body comprising a cylindrical section; and a skirt comprising a hip, a leg, and a restraint. The hip formed with or attached to the body and has a profile for receiving an upper portion of the leg. The profile is oversized relative to the leg upper portion, thereby defining a radial clearance between the hip and the leg to account for thermal cycling of the body. The restraint fastens the hip and the leg while allowing limited movement between the hip and the leg to account for the thermal cycling.

Abstract: A metal reinforcement fitting 10 including a strip 12 curved vertically upward is attached to a bottom 20b of a transportation container 20, and thus upward force can be applied to the bottom 20b. The upward force of the metal reinforcement fitting 10 can suppress downward force of a heavy article housed in the transportation container 20. Accordingly, if the metal reinforcement fitting 10 is attached to the bottom 20b of the transportation container 20 before the heavy article is housed, the bottom 20b can be prevented from bulging. Additionally, even if the bottom 20b of the transportation container 20 has already bulged, instability caused by deformation of the bottom 20b can be improved by attachment of the metal reinforcement fitting 10. Thus the provided metal reinforcement fitting has durability for long-term use of a transportation container.

  • Patent number: 5328042
Abstract: A flat-storable container comprises a bottom deck and a pair of opposed sidewalls attached to the bottom deck in hinged relation thereto, to permit the sidewalls to lie flat against the deck in a folded position, and to stand in perpendicular relation thereto in a container-forming position. The sidewalls each typically carry a pair of opposed, foldable side flaps which are proportioned to be unfolded in the container-forming position to form lateral walls between the sidewalls. Thus, sets of the engaging side flaps define lateral container walls extending between ends of the opposed sidewalls, to define with the deck an open-top, rectangular container. A container lid is typically provided, plus straps for holding the lid on the container and for holding engaging side flaps together, when engaging side flaps are used. Alternatively each lateral wall may be defined by a single side flap. Such containers may be of relatively large size, and used in airliner baggage compartments or any other desired use.

  • Patent number: 5289942
Abstract: A fluid storage tank made of a plurality of steel plates welded together is reinforced by winding a plurality of continuous, high tensile strength, non-metallic filaments around and in contact with the plates and applying a resin to the filaments to define a composite material of the filaments in a resin matrix. In one embodiment, substantially the entire exterior surface of the shell is covered by the composite material to form a reinforcing jacket. In another embodiment, the composite material is formed into a plurality of spaced reinforcing bands extending around the shell.

  • Patent number: 5233145
Abstract: Pouring receptacle for infusion, adapted to be placed in a microwave oven and comprising a body (1) to which is secured a handle (2) by an encircling band (3), the body (1) and the handle (2) being of a material transparent to microwaves. The encircling band (3) clamps a portion (4, 16) of the handle (2) to the body (1) and is of a material having a coefficient of expansion near that of the body, transparent to microwaves and resistant to deformation during successive thermal cycles. The band is a structure reinforced by fibers. The fibers can be applied by winding from a spool, or the band (3) can be molded and heated to expand it so it slips over the body (1) and cools and contracts to grip the body (1) firmly.

  • Patent number: 5133475
Abstract: A storage tank comprises a cylindrical-shaped main body, end caps, a manway and a set of support ribs extending circumferentially around the main body. The manway is integral with a main body of the storage tank and has a side wall which extends generally vertically from the main body with a terminus which forms a substantially horizontal plane and defines an opening. A manway lid is dimensioned to cover the opening and has means to removably secure it to the manway. The cylindrical-shaped main body and manway are formed together using a fibrous reinforcing material and a resinous material so as to be integral with one another.
