Abstract: A sealable container includes a container body having two opposite curved grooves in an upper end and a recessed bottom wall; a cap having a flange for a seal gasket to fit around to seal an open mouth of the container, two U-shaped vertical walls defining a recess and having a ridge on two opposite sections; two plate hooks combined on the two U-shaped vertical walls, having a shove surface and two position plates in parallel; and a seal gasket. The cap can be taken off the container when the hooks are pushed outward, and kept sealed on the open mouth when the hooks are pushed inward. Two or more containers can be put on the other one by having the recessed bottom wall fitting with the convex upper surface of the cap and the two crescent grooves fitting with the shove surfaces of the hooks.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a plastic drum that includes a cylindrical shaped sidewall and a planar shaped head. A transition section is molded with and disposed between the head and the sidewall. A handling ring is positioned on the transition section and has a base that is disposed below the head and interior to the sidewall. The plastic drum is formed by the steps of: providing a mold having an inner surface that defines a cylindrical shaped sidewall, a planar shaped head, a transition section between the sidewall and the head and a handling ring; and molding a sidewall and the head, a transition section between the head and the sidewall, and a handling ring to extend from the transition section, the handling ring being positioned on the transition section below the head and interior to the sidewall.

Abstract: A wide mouthed container of synthetic resins for a paint, wax and the like, formed thinly in the body portion thereof by injection stretch blow molding is provided. A mouth portion of the wide mouthed container is of large diameter and comprises an internal wall integral with a body portion having a bottom, a belt shaped external wall integrally formed on the outside of the internal wall via a joint portion of required width to be in H-shape, and an upper and lower annular grooves between both the walls sectioned by the joint portion. The body portion is stretch blow molded thinly from the underside of the internal wall to a position where the lower edge of the external wall touches the body portion to form the side surface of the body portion on the same level as said external wall and to form the lower annular groove into a hollow in the lower part of the mouth portion.

Abstract: A plastic bucket includes at least one undercut adjacent an upper end of the bucket defined by a bucket wall which extends upwardly and inwardly along a diagonal path. An annular, vertical section may be provided at the upper end of the diagonal path. Above the vertical section, the bucket wall extends radially outwardly to create an annular, horizontal flange. In addition, an uppermost annular rim may extend upwardly from the horizontal flange and be located approximately midway between inner and outer radii of the flange.

Abstract: A stackable shopping basket in which the proximal side wall is inwardly curved in a contour adapted to an adult human user's body. The opposite or distal side wall may also be curved with a contour that is symmetrical with the proximate side wall. The side walls and end walls have an outwardly-turned peripheral top edge forming a lip, the lip being extended downward along at least a portion of the proximal side wall to form a cushion portion. Stand-off fins are provided along the periphery of the basket between the lip and the end walls and side walls other than the cushion portion. A centrally located handle projects from the bottom of the basket and defines a channel through the bottom wall of the basket for nesting identical baskets in a stack. The grip of the handle is oriented along the longitudinal axis of the basket. The grip may have a detachable cover to display advertising.

Abstract: Collapsible container for transport and storage, comprising a bottom part (2) and side walls (1) movably connected to the bottom part (2) via hinges (3) which are formed by lower hinge-parts (3') and upper hinge-parts (3"). The hinge-parts (3', 3") are integrated with their respective part (1, 2). Two side walls (1), placed on opposite sides are provided with an inwards angled edge (4') at each of their two ends. The edges (4') connect, when in upright position, with the adjoining side walls (1). The inwards angled edges (4') are provided with a number of coupling devices (5) which are intended to interact with corresponding couplings (6) placed at the ends (4") of the adjoining side walls (1). The side walls (1) can hereby be locked together in an upright position. At least two opposite side walls (1), preferably all four, are provided with hollow channel-like reinforcing profiles (7) stretching along three sides of each of the side walls (1), wherein one of the sides is always an upper side (8).

Abstract: The container includes a lower part and a lid. The lower part is of a single wall structure and is reinforced at its upper edge area by a reinforcing wall. The lower end of the reinforcing wall is curved inwards and extends into the side wall. Thus, an edge at the lower end of the edge area is prevented. The upper edges of the lid are also rounded and run smoothly into the reinforcing wall. The lid includes ribs which, when the lid is placed on the lower part, come to lie onto corresponding ribs of the lower part. The lid is connected to the lower part by a snapping mechanism. The lid includes an opening, into which a ledge of the snapping mechanism can be snapped in. This ledge is accessible through this opening to release the ledge to disengage the opening.

Abstract: An article, such as a container, includes a bottom wall, a sidewall and rim around a top end to strengthen the sidewall and to provide a handle for lifting the article. The rim includes a first lip extending radially outward with respect to the container to provide strength and rigidity to the rim and sidewall. The first lip is formed by two substantially parallel layers of material that can be spaced apart or bonded together. A second flexible lip extends radially from the rim and is axially spaced from the first lip. The second lip forms a continuous open channel enabling the second lip to be gripped from the inside of the article. The second lip has a radial dimension greater than the first lip to limit contact of the first lip with an adjacent object. An article is made by a blow molding process and apparatus having moving segment molds. A thermoplastic parison is inflated to contact the mold surfaces. The moving mold segments then compress a portion of the plastic to form the first lip.

Abstract: A molded plastic basket for a shopping cart includes side and front walls formed of a molded gridwork of ribs extending at an angle relative to the upright direction of the basket when it is assembled to a shopping cart chassis. The front and side walls intersect each other along convex arcuate curved corner sections with the gridwork ribs continuously flowing around the corner sections up to a mold parting line provided midway around the curved sections. The ribs of the side walls extend parallel to each other to permit molding of the side walls by a transversely moveable mold section that moves towards and away from the side wall area during molding and the ribs of the front wall likewise all extend parallel to each other in a direction generally perpendicular to the direction of the side wall ribs to enable molding of the ribs of the front wall by another moveable section of a mold that moves in a direction generally perpendicular to the direction of motion of the mold section forming the side walls.

Abstract: A processor tray is provide for maintaining plastic film wrapped thereabout in a taut state. The tray is unitarially formed with a plurality of sidewalls, a comer joining each pair of sidewalls, and a base. A flange is formed to extend outwardly and downwardly from uppermost portions of the sidewalls and the corners preferably in the range of 15.degree.-35.degree.. Additionally, the flange may be formed with varying widths about the perimeter of the tray. The base may be either formed flat or, alternatively, the base may be formed with three concentric regions to define a concavity, with one region being planar and raised relative to the bottom of the tray.

Abstract: A food bin assembly comprising a bin, a rear lid member, and a front lid member. The bin has a bottom and a plurality of walls extending up from the bottom. The walls have upper ends defining a bin opening. One of the walls is a first side wall and another of the walls is a second side wall opposite the first side wall. The rear lid member is configured for covering a rear portion of the bin opening. The front lid member is configured for covering a forward portion of the bin opening. The front lid member is slidably connected to the first and second side walls of the bin for longitudinal sliding movement of the front lid member relative to the bin between a forward position in which the front lid member is positioned over the forward portion of the bin opening and a rearward position in which the front lid member is positioned over the rear portion of the bin opening.

Abstract: A mixing bowl of generally ellipsoidal configuration having an elliptical upwardly domed base, upwardly and outwardly arcing side wall, and an upper ellipse-defining rim. The rim is surrounded by an outwardly and downwardly inclined flange varying in width from one end of the rim whereat a pour spout is defined to a maximum width at the other end of the rim whereat a gripping and nesting recess is defined.

Abstract: This weather-shielding protective newspaper delivery receptacle serves to completely enclose its contents and has no removable or hinged door for access to its interior. The receptacle consists essentially of a tapered elongated tube having its smaller end terminating in a solid immovable wall closure and having its large end terminating at a rim edge. The rim edge is equipped with a planar flexible wall permanently united about its perimeter to the rim edge. The wall has intersecting slits that form plural flaps extending from the perimeter to a central location of the flexible wall. The flaps are deformed inwardly as a newspaper is inserted into the tube and are deformed outwardly as a newspaper is removed from the tube through the flexible wall. The flaps are sufficiently resilient to return to a non-deformed state after deformation. The flexible wall is sloped so as to extend downwardly and underneath the uppermost portion of the rim edge during use.

Abstract: A molded plastic overwrap tray is disclosed having a base and sidewalls. The upper edges of the sidewalls define an upper surface of the tray. The base and sidewalls define a food retaining chamber. Adjacent sidewalls of the tray are connected to one another through a corner reinforcing rib extending from the base to the upper edges of the associated sidewalls. The reinforcing rib defines a channel in communication with the food retaining chamber to provide finger access to food positioned in the food retaining chamber to facilitate removal thereof. Each of the corner ribs provides reinforcement to resist deflection of the upper edges of the sidewalls, whereby an overwrap on the tray is supported by the upper surface of the tray to minimize sagging of the overwrap and prevent the overwrap from coming into contact with food in the food retaining chamber. In another embodiment, a center post is provided having its upper end substantially level with the upper surface of the tray.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a blow molded article and an apparatus and method for blow molding the article. The article contemplated by the present invention includes a recessed lip. The apparatus includes two plates reciprocally movable toward and away from one another. A center ring member and a separating ring are fixedly and perpendicularly mounted on each plate. A mold half is mounted on each plate and is divided into two sections. One section is located on each side of the center ring member and is reciprocally movable toward and away from the center ring member. A first insert member is provided in each mold section in proximity to said center insert member. The first insert has a channel therein for receiving a second insert member. The second insert member is reciprocally movable in said channel and engages the center ring member.

Abstract: A molded plastic overwrap tray is disclosed having a base and first and second sets of opposed sidewalls. The base and sidewalls define a food retaining chamber. The upper edges of the sidewalls define an upper plane of the tray. The upper edges of one set of opposed sidewalls have first and second pairs of opposed indentations for receiving the respective opposed ends of a pair of spaced-apart support bars. The support bars have an upper surface defining a plane substantially parallel to the upper plane of the tray, whereby an overwrap on the tray is supported by the upper surface of the support bars to minimize sagging of the overwrap and prevent the overwrap from coming in contact with food in the food retaining chamber. The support bars also assist in maintaining the engaged opposed upper edges substantially parallel to one another to reduce distortion and breakage of the tray when the overwrap is tightly stretched thereover.

Abstract: The present invention is drawn to a blow molded article having a deep recessed lip wherein the lip includes a folded reinforcing layer adjacent a hollow U-shaped portion. The reinforcing layer is formed by the parison folding over on itself in the mold while forming the U-shaped lip. The folded portions are pinched together within the mold and are welded to one another. At various portions around the circumference of the lip, vents are inserted to relieve the pressure within the lip during release of the internal pressure within the molded article.

Abstract: A packaging tray formed of expanded polystyrene foam sheet material, having thick, curvilinearly interrupted perimeter edges. The edges are at least 10% thicker than the cross-sectional thickness of the major portions of the associated side walls of the tray. The perimeter edges are curvilinearly interrupted at at least two regular intervals along each side wall. The walls of the tray form corners which rise from the margins of the bottom panel of the tray at angles which can be greater than the angles at which the side walls rise from the bottom panel margins.

Abstract: A trash container includes a body having a substantially rectangular cross section, a wall and a rim with opposite sides. A hinged lid is supported on one of the opposite sides of the rim. The other of the opposite sides of the rim has a receiving channel with an open bottom and an outer wall formed therein. A guide device is disposed on the receiving channel for engagement by a gripper of a hoisting and dumping apparatus. The guide device is formed of a guide tongue being integral with the outer wall of the receiving channel and pointing downward away from the wall of the body.

Abstract: A mixing bowl set is disclosed comprising nestable bowls (2,4), each having a radiussed sidewalls (8), and a downturned upper rim flange (14). The rim flange (14) has a lower edge 20 which is spaced apart from the sidewall (8) a distance which varies from a maximun at the rearward end (24) of the bowl to a minimum at the forward end (26). Accordingly, a channel (22) is defined below the rim flange (14) which is wider at the rearward end, sufficiently so to admit the digits of a hand, whereby making the rearward portion of the flange (14) a handle for the bowl. A pourspout (28) is provided in the forward end of the rim flange (14) and is configured to be entirely below flange (14). Accordingly, there are no projections beyond the rim flange of the bowl throughout its entire circumference which could interfere with the nesting of one bowl into a like-configured larger bowl.

Abstract: A waste container includes a generally cylindrical double-wall drum having separate spaced-apart inner and outer sidewalls and separate spaced-apart inner and outer bottom walls. The inner and outer sidewalls are continuously connected along their upper ends and the inner and outer bottom walls are connected at a plurality of spaced-apart locations. A double-wall lid is provided to seal the container. A neck portion is formed at the upper end of the drum and includes a series of buttress threads on the interior face thereof adapted to engage buttress threads on the lid. A vertically-oriented annular trough is formed below and inwardly of the threads in the neck portion and is adapted to engage an annular toe depending from the lid. An upwardly projecting annular lid is formed immediately adjacent to and inwardly of the annular trough in the drum portion, so as to form an annular S-shaped surface with the annular trough.

Abstract: In a plastic container, including a base and a thin flexible perimetric side wall extending from the base and terminating in a perimetric rim, the side wall includes a perimetric ledge extending generally in a lateral direction; an upper perimetric wall section extending between an outer edge of the ledge and the rim; a lower perimetric wall section extending toward the base from an inner edge of the ledge; and a perimetric series of longitudinal ribs closely spaced about all of the ledge and extending between the ledge and one of said wall sections for reinforcing the container against extreme flexure when the container is lifted by being gripped at the upper wall section by a thumb and finger while the container contains a substantial weight of material. The ribs are recessed from a brink of the ledge and have an exposed edge that extends between the ledge and the one wall section at an angle that is less than an angle between the ledge and the one wall section.

Abstract: A laundry basket is disclosed, comprising four sides (4) and a bottom (5) which define an internal chamber (8). A handle opening (10) is formed in at least one of the sidewalls, proximate an upper rim (6). A handle body (12) spans the opening (10), along the rim (6). A gripping member (14) attaches to an underside of the handle body by overlapping flanges (18, 28). The gripping member (14) is upwardly concave, of relatively larger radius of curvature than the downwardly concave handle body (12). Together, the gripping member and handle body comprise a cylindrical handle assembly. The gripping member (14) is formed to provide spaced apart gripping ribs (26). Gripping ribs (26) are co-extruded with the gripping member (14), but are formed of relatively softer plastic material. Reinforcement walls (22) extend downward from the handle body (12) into the gripping member (14) and abut thereagainst for reinforcement.

Abstract: A trash container (10) includes a base container portion (11) and a cover (12). The base container portion (11) includes a front wall (15), a rear wall (16) and two side walls (13, 14) all extending upwardly from a bottom surface (17) to an upper rim (19) defining an open top (18). The side wall (13) is provided with outboard ribs (24, 25) having inboard beads (26, 27) thereon. The other side wall (14) is provided with inboard ribs (30, 31) having outboard beads (32, 33) thereon. The beads (26, 27) engage the beads (32, 33) of a like container (10A) to attach the container (10) to the like container (10A).The cover (12) has a peripheral rim made up of a front U-shaped ledge (40) and a rear U-shaped ledge (43). A generally horizontal opening (49) is formed within the rear U-shaped ledge (43) and a trash receiving ramp (50) is positioned below the opening (49). A hood (53) extends upwardly from the front U-shaped ledge (40) and defines a second opening (52) which extends partially above the opening (49).

Abstract: A bin for granular substance is disclosed comprising a receptacle (4) having an inwardly rolled top rim flange (14). The rim flange in turn defines an integral registration detent region (B). Rearward and forward lid components (38, 42) are mounted over the receptacle opening with the rearward lid component having a depending J-shaped appendages (30), which are located to extend below the below the receptacle of downturned rim flange (16). The forward lid component (38) is adapted having elements (52, 56) for sliding and pivotal engagement with the rearward lid component, whereby the forward lid component can be slidably repositioned along the rearward lid component, and at any position therealong, pivot upward to expose the receptacle top opening.

Abstract: The present invention provides an apparatus for containing goods. A bail member is connected to a pail in such a manner that the pail and the pail member are able to withstand a centrifugally directed impact upon the bail member. A contact portion of the bail member substantially contacts a cross support member of the pail in response to such an impact. Additonally, the pails are designed to be stacked within one another. The structure is such that the bail members do not catch on the ridges or rims of lower pails in the stack.

Abstract: A blow molded storage container which is at least 20 inches wide and thirty inches long. The container is blown through an end wall with at least two blow bins. Also the rear section of the door rim is at least twice the width of the front section.

Abstract: The present invention provides a trash or garbage container having a main container portion and a closure element permanently mounted to the top of the main container portion. The closure element is selectively movable between an open and closed position, and is removably locked in place on the main container portion in its closed position. One end of the closure element, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, is hingedly mounted to the main container portion for pivoting the closure element between its opened and closed positions, and an opposed end of the closure element defines an opening which is adapted to engage a complimentary retaining element on the main container portion to removably lock the closure element in its closed position.

Abstract: Bunged vessel having solid carriage and transport rings formed in one piece with the shell of the vessel near the head surfaces of the vessel, wherein the horizontal lower edge of the ring and the vertical inner wall of the ring form the bearing surfaces for the vessel lifter. Each carriage and transport ring is connected in one piece with the vessel by a connecting ring formed of an axial prolongation of the cylindrical part of the shell of the vessel, while the bottom of the groove between the connecting ring and the part of the shell rising conically towards the head surface of the vessel is arranged at a distance below the horizontal bearing surface of the carriage and transport ring.

Abstract: A container, such as a pail for holding paint or the like, integrally molded from a resilient plastic material. The container includes an integrally molded bail having ends joined to wall portions of the container by relatively thin, flexible, diametrically opposed hinge portions which enables the container and its liquid contents to hang vertically from the bail. A stiffening bead is provided circumferentially about the wall of the container adjacent its upper rim, the bead including a vertically extending, X-shaped lattice structure included between the wall of the container and a wall spaced annularly thereabout.

Abstract: A display container includes a receptacle housing defining an enclosure therein, the receptacle housing including a front wall, rear wall, side walls and a bottom wall, the receptacle housing including an upper opening through which articles can be deposited into and removed from the enclosure; the front wall having a downwardly and inwardly extending incline so that articles deposited in the enclosure are compactly and orderly arranged therein; bump-like separators on the bottom wall and grip-like separators at the front portion of the opening for separating elongated articles deposited in the enclosure and extending from the bottom wall out of the opening; and an L-shaped securing assembly at the upper part of the rear wall for supporting the display container on a vertical slat board.
