Abstract: An assembly is provided having a beverage container and a lid. The beverage container includes a body defining a hollow interior for holding liquids, and a curved annular wall attached to the top rim of the body, the curved annular wall having an upper end that defines a drinking mouth. The inner diameter of the curved annular wall is greater at the upper end than at a central portion thereof. The lid includes a core having an annular outer wall which has a generally curved configuration, and at least one groove provided along the annular outer wall and extending from the top end of the core to the bottom end of the core. The lid further includes a top plate attached to the top end of the core and completely covering the groove, with the top plate having an outer circumferential edge.

Abstract: A tapered cup having an outwardly rolled lip includes a cup wall having an upper portion that is outwardly flared more than an adjacent lower wall portion. The cup can include a groove below the outwardly rolled lip in the inner face of the cup wall. The cup can be provided with stacking ribs within the cup to aid in stacking of two or more cups. The cup can include a tapered lid with an outwardly flared lip that seats against the inner wall of the cup and that does not extend over the lip of the cup. The lid can include a locking ring below the outwardly flared lip of the lid that is adapted for insertion into the groove in the cup. The lid further includes a fluid port.

Abstract: This patent discloses a detachable hot beverage cup lid. There is provided a spill resistant feature within the drink-through opening, a condiment funnel, an alignment indicia opposite the drink-through opening, and a novel stirring rod.

Abstract: A spill-proof covered drinking container has an annular protruding drinking spout that provides a relatively large number of separate drinking ports around the spout circumference. An annular suction-responsive valve means is located within the drinking spout for controlling outflow of liquid through the drinking ports, such that liquid flow is confined to the port, or ports, in physical contact with the user's mouth. The user can drink from any point around the spout circumference.

Abstract: A plastic beverage container attachment of the present invention having a curved or beveled section is releasably attachable at its base to the top of a metal or aluminum beverage can, or to the top of a plastic or Styrofoam drink cup or container. The interior of the beveled portion of the attachment comprises an internal concave portion or reservoir, and curved funneled surfaces, that hold and regulate the volume and rate of flow of the beverage and thus inhibit its sudden rush from the container to the drinker's mouth, thus permitting the consumer to enjoy a more gentle beverage flow. An edge is molded around the interior of the base of the container to enable the attachment to firmly snap on and off the top of the container or can. A series of posts or projections are placed around the interior of the base, just above the edge, so as to aid in the support of the attachment on the can or container.

Abstract: A tapered cup having an outwardly rolled lip includes insulating bodies integral with the outer face of the wall of the cup. Thermally conductive channels are among the insulating bodies and have an insulating value that is less then the insulating value of the insulating bodies. The cup can include a groove below the outwardly rolled lip in the inner face of the cup wall. The insulating bodies can be configured as alpha numeric indicia and the outer wall of the bodies or cup can be provided with bumps to aid in stacking of two or more cups. The cup can include a tapered lid with an outwardly flared lip that seats against the inner wall of the cup and does not extend over the lip of the cup. The lid can include a locking ring below the outwardly flared lip of the lid that is adapted for insertion into the groove in the cup. The lid further includes a fluid port.

Abstract: A mug comprising a container and a lid, with the container having an inwardly projecting seal rim and inwardly projecting retainers spaced above the seal rim. The lid has a disc for engagement with the upper surface of the seal rim with a retainer opening for passing the retainer, and a catch for positioning under the retainer to retain the lid in the container on the seal rim. The retainer may be formed integrally with the container, or may be a stud carried in an opening in the container. The catch of the lid preferably includes a flexible center with a ramp at each end joining the catch to the disc.

Abstract: A thin, plastic lid for disposable drinking cups has a drinking opening formed in a raised portion of the lid. The drinking opening is covered by a hinged closure member that is locked in place by trapping an outer marginal edge of the closure member between the cup rim and the periphery of the lid. The lid may be formed by conventional vacuum forming and die cutting operations.

Abstract: A new Sanitary Drinking Cup Lid for offering a drinking cup lid which is sanitarily singly packaged. The inventive device includes a drinking cup lid and a protective covering enclosing the drinking cup lid, wherein the protective covering is peeled from the drinking cup lid by the user prior to use. The drinking cup lid comprises a cover portion and a lip portion displaced peripherally around the cover portion. A drink opening is provided in the cover portion adjacent the lip portion. The protective covering enclosing the drinking cup lid comprises a top protective sheet and a bottom protective sheet. The top protective sheet and the bottom protective sheet are joined together beyond the periphery of the drinking cup lid as well as through the drink opening.

Abstract: A cover for a cup, the cover comprising a cap and a lid, with the cap mountable on a cup, with the lid rotatably attached to the cap and with the cap and lid having openings for fluid flow from the cup when the openings are in alignment. The cap-lid attachment includes a first ring on the cap and a second ring on the lid, with the second ring rotating within the first ring, and with the second ring having resilient fingers projecting from the second ring past the first ring, with outwardly projecting hooks at the end of the fingers for latching the rings together. The first ring has projecting stops for engagement by the second ring hooks for limiting rotation of the lid between aligned and non-aligned positions of the openings, with the cap and lid having bands with openings therein, with the lid band overlying the cap band, and with the cap band having a rib around the cap openings and in sealing engagement with the lid band.

Abstract: A container cover having chamber for retaining a porous filter bag, such as a tea bag. The cover has an upwardly extending protrusion forming the retaining chamber. The protrusion has an aperture enabling passage of the drawstring of the tea bag. An opening closed by a removable lift tab is formed in the container cover for access to liquid contents of the container. The protrusion and opening are located opposite one another on the container cover. The user withdraws the tea bag from the liquid contents of the container into the retaining chamber by pulling the drawstring of the tea bag through the aperture. The aperture resiliently grasps the drawstring. The container cover and porous filter bag are used and discarded without causing direct handling of the porous filter bag.

Abstract: A disposable drink-thru lid for a drinking cup including an annular mounting portion for sealingly engaging the drinking cup, an annular trough provided about an inner periphery of the annular mounting portion as well as an annular side wall extending upwardly from the trough to a top land in the form of an annular ridge adjacent an uppermost extremity of the annular side wall is disclosed. The top portion of the lid includes a crown region having a periphery adjacent the annular ridge wherein the annular ridge is asymmetrical having a widened region accommodating a drink-thru opening and a narrowed region diametrically opposed to the widened region of the annular ridge. Further, the periphery of the crown region lies in a first substantially horizonal plane while the annular ridge includes a substantially planar surface with this surface lying in a plane above the planed defined by the periphery of the crown region thereby forming a retaining wall for retaining a container placed thereon.

Abstract: A drinking mug includes a mug body having an outer wall, an inner wall and a mouth defined by an upper edge. The mug includes a lid provided integral with the inner wall and substantially covering the mouth, the lid having an outer edge, a first opening and a second opening. The first and second openings are adapted to pass liquid and other substances therethrough, with the first opening provided along the outer edge of the lid for drinking purposes. A third opening is provided along the outer edge of the lid substantially opposite the first opening. A cover is provided for covering the second opening.

Abstract: A drinking mug and multipurpose lid combination comprises a lid comprising a substantially cylindrical side wall having an inner surface, and at least one locking member provided on the inner surface. The combination further comprises a mug comprising a substantially cylindrical body, an annular shoulder at the upper end of the cylindrical body, and a recessed cylindrical wall at the inner edge of the annular shoulder. The mug further comprises at least one retaining bar provided on the outer surface of the recessed cylindrical wall. The inner surface of the cylindrical side wall of the lid is adapted to be positioned adjacent the outer surface of the recessed cylindrical wall of the mug when the lid is used to cover the mouth of the mug. When in this position, the lid is adapted to be rotated in a first direction so that each locking member of the lid is retained below each corresponding retaining bar of the mug to secure the lid to the mug.

Abstract: An opener for facilitating opening of a beverage can and precluding an entrance of debris or insects thereinto. The inventive device includes a beverage can having a lid extending across an upper end thereof. A guarded opening assembly is pivotally mounted to the lid and operates to effect fracturing of a frangible opening in the lid. The guarded opening assembly includes a screen positionable over the opening in the lid to preclude an entrance of insects or debris into the can.

Abstract: An adaptable closure for drinking containers is disclosed. The closure generally includes a concave disk having a central portion and a wide, angled flange. The flange extends upwardly and outwardly from the central portion around the periphery of the central portion. The flange has an upper surface and a lower surface and is flexible and resilient. The lower surface of the flange has the shape of an inverted frustum of a cone for sealingly engaging the inside surfaces of the drinking container. The closure includes a drinking hole offset from the center of the disk and a vent hole also offset from the center of the disk approximately opposite the drinking hole. Finger tabs are provided on the top of the disk to aid in removal of the closure from the drinking container.

Abstract: A guard for preventing splashing or sloshing of hot or cold liquids from a drinking container with which the guard is used. The guard includes a lower disk having an outer circular rim for engaging the inner face of the side wall of the drinking container, an upper disk having an outer rim spaced from the drinking container to provide an annular passage between the upper disk and the inner face of the side wall of the drinking container with which the guard is used, a baffle interposed between the lower disk and the upper disk for functioning to baffle the beverage when the drinking container is in motion and to act as a support for supporting the upper disk from the lower disk, and a passageway is provided through the lower disk to allow passage of the beverage through the lower disk to a position above the lower disk. An upstanding handle is provided on the upper disk and a receptacle is provided on the lower disk to removably receive the handle and permit stacking of the guards.

Abstract: A flat horizontal disc has a pin hole therein and a peripheral socket. A vertical hollow spout extends above the disc and is integral therewith. The spout has rectangularly shaped open upper and lower ends and tapers downwardly and and outwardly toward the disc. The open lower end is coincident with an opening in the disc which communicates with the socket. A longitudinal portion of the spout is provided with a recess which extends downwardly from the top of the spout to a step disposed above the disc. The step has an upper horizontal surface and extends generally vertically downward to the disc. The spout has a horizontal opening in the peripheral interior of the spout. The opening is spaced vertically downward below the horizontal surface and extends between the horizontal surface and the peripheral interior.

Abstract: A flat horizontal disc has a pin hole therein and a peripheral socket. A vertical hollow spout extends above the disc and is integral therewith. The spout has rectangularly shaped open upper and lower ends and tapers downwardly and outwardly toward the disc. The open lower end is coincident with an opening in the disc which communicates with the socket. The spout as viewed in a horizontal plane has two opposite longitudinal sides, one side having a recess which extends downwardly from the top of the spout to a step disposed above the disc. The step has an upper horizontal surface and extends generally vertically downward to the disc. A flat horizontal member having at least one opening therein is disposed within the peripheral interior of the spout. The member is spaced vertically downward below the horizontal surface and extends between the horizontal surface and the peripheral interior.

Abstract: A lid for a disposable hot beverage container that is specifically designed to hold a pastry over the hot beverage. This enables the steam from the beverage to heat, flavor and moisten the pastry. The lid includes an engagement mechanism that enables the lid to be selectively joined to the rim of the hot beverage container. The lid has a plurality of apertures formed through its base structure that enable steam from the beverage to rise through the lid. A plurality of supports extend upwardly from the base structure. The supports all terminate in a common plane a predetermined height above the base structure. The supports hold the pastry a predetermined distance above the base structure of the lid. As a result, if liquid were to spill onto the lid, or if steam were to condense onto the lid, the pastry would be supported above the liquid and would be saved from becoming soggy.

Abstract: A closure for a container has a lid combining positively interengaging latches with a biasing feature which urges the lid upward with respect to the container in order to more firmly effect latching. A series of projections formed along the interior upper periphery of the container register with latching slots formed along the outer surface of a skirt which depends from the lid, which is dimensioned to fit closely within the opening of the container. An annular flange extends from the outermost periphery of the lid to overlap a portion of the skirt. The outer upper periphery of the container is tapered outwardly to force the flange to flex when the lid is placed on the container thus imparting an upward force to the lid and, thereby, to the lug-and-latch combinations when the lid is turned to register the lugs with the latches. A handle assembly is attachable to the exterior of the container.

Abstract: A molded plastic lid of the drink-through type for use in connection with a conventional beverage cup. The lid exhibits a cup engaging rim and, radially inwardly thereof, a raised crown portion having a side wall and a top. The top is generally flat but has formed therein a centrally located recess, the floor of which extends laterally to the side walls and which is at all times above the maximum fill line of the cup during normal operation. The recess exhibits a structure which may be depressed into a stable inverted condition which provides an enlarged drink-through aperture immediately adjacent the side wall.

Abstract: A container lid adapted for removable reception over a rim portion of a associated container having a center panel portion and a peripheral skirt portion depending therefrom and having a small pin latch opening extending through the center panel portion and also including an access flap formed by portions of the center panel and the peripheral skirt adapted to provide access to the interior of the container.

Abstract: A beverage mug includes a vessel having an enlarged base and a neck which rises to a mouth surrounded by a rim. The mouth is normally covered by a closure that includes a lid and a sipping liner. The lid fits over and engages a sipping liner, but the liner may be detached from the lid and installed separately in the mouth of the vessel. The sipping liner has a cross wall that lies within the mouth of the vessel below the rim and thereby prevents the beverage from splashing out of the mouth, but the cross wall contains an aperture to enable one to take a beverage from the vessel in sips. The lid is fitted to the liner while the liner is on the mouth of the vessel simply by placing the lid over the liner and pressing downwardly.

Abstract: Disclosed is a cap for a drink container which permits drinking of the drink contained therein without removing the cap. The cap comprises a cover plate which is to cover the upper opening of the drink container and a peripheral wall of the cover plate which is to be fitted to the upper opening edge of the drink container. The cover plate is disposed diagonally in the peripheral wall and has a liquid port at a low position. A plugging member for closing the liquid port is pivotally supported on the upper surface of the cover plate substantially at the center thereof. The peripheral wall has a notch in which the plugging member is to be retracted when the liquid port is closed thereby. The plugging member is locked onto the cover plate when the liquid port is closed by the plugging member, whereas the plugging member is locked onto the peripheral wall when the liquid port is let open.

Abstract: A safety drinking container for controlled release of liquid contained therein, particularly hot beverages and the like. The safety container includes base and lid portions which engage one another in sealing relationship during use. In one preferred embodiment, the lid portion includes at least one drinking passage arranged to be covered by the mouth of an individual during consumption of a liquid, while the base portion is configured with an edge surrounding an opening in the base portion which discourages the individual from consuming the liquid directly from the base portion. In another preferred embodiment, the base portion includes a top having an opening formed therein. The opening is defined by an edge which discourages the individual from consuming the liquid directly from the base portion. The base portion including at least one drinking passage arranged to be covered by the mouth of the individual.

Abstract: A beverage container is provided for use with a golf cart or the like having a support member. The container includes a body having a central beverage receiving cavity which extends from the closed bottom of the body to the open top end of the body. The container also includes means for receiving a freezable gel, the means being disposed within the beverage receiving cavity. A cap is provided to be releasably attached to the open top end of the body. The container further includes means for attaching the body to the support member.

Abstract: A reuseable lid for beverage cans which includes a cammed hinged flip lid (which is capable of being locked in place in an open or closed position) drip prevention lip protection shield, a release lever for greater mechanical advantage for removing the lid, and an integral grating which prevents insects and debris from entering the beverage can.

Abstract: A mug and lid combination comprises a lid having a cylindrical wall and a plurality of retaining means. Each retaining means comprises two longitudinal slits provided along the cylindrical wall and extending from a bottom edge of the cylindrical wall to a mid-section of the cylindrical wall, the two slits defining a portion of the cylindrical wall therebetween. The retaining means further comprises a protrusion provided on the external surface of the portion of the cylindrical wall between the slits. The combination further comprises a mug comprising a hollow section for holding liquids, and a lip section at the mouth of the mug. The mug further includes a concave ring section connected to the lip section of the mug at a neck, the concave ring section having a central diameter greater than the diameter of the neck. The concave ring section is adapted to receive the protrusions.

Abstract: A safety lid adapted for use with a mug, the mug having a circumferential mouth and an internal surface. The safety lid comprises a disk and a central core attached to the bottom surface of the disk. The central core has a circular side wall. The safety lid further comprises a circular sealing ring having an inner surface attached to the circular side wall of the central core and an outer surface adapted to frictionally engage the internal surface of the mouth of the mug.

Abstract: A cap for detachably enclosing an upper open end of a hollow vertical disposable container with liquid therein employs a flat horizontal disc having first and second openings disposed in spaced apart positions therein. The first opening is a pin hole. The second opening is relatively large. The disc has a peripheral socket adapted to engage the periphery of the upper end of the container in such manner that liquid cannot flow out therebetween. A hollow vertical hollow spout tapers upwardly and outwardly from the disc and has an open lower end coincident with the second opening. The spout has an upper open end defining a first slot therein, the upper end being smaller in area than the lower end. A hollow member is disposed within the spout with an upper open end coincident with the upper end of the spout, the member extending downwardly and inwardly from the upper end of the spout to a lower end horizontally aligned with the lower end of the spout.

Abstract: A cap for detachably enclosing an upper open end of a hollow vertical disposable container with liquid therein employs a flat horizontal disc having first and second openings disposed in spaced apart positions therein. The first opening is a pin hole. The second opening is relatively large. The disc has a peripheral socket adapted to engage the periphery of the upper end of the container in such manner that liquid cannot flow out. A hollow vertical hollow spout tapers upwardly from the disc with an open lower end coincident with the second opening. An open upper of the spout is smaller in area than its lower end. A member is disposed within the spout with an upper open end coincident with the upper end of the spout and extends downwardly and inwardly from the upper end of the spout. A lower end of the spout has at least one hole therein.

Abstract: A lid formed from plastics material and used as a closure for a drinking vessel is disclosed. The lid includes a main disc closure portion and a perimeter wall for mounting the lid on the open top end of the vessel. The lid is characterized by a rupturable depression in the main disc portion which receives and can be ruptured by one end of a drink through straw when pushed by hand. The depression has an annular sleeve like sidewall which terminates in a bottom end wall and which at their juncture provides a predetermined tear line. The depression also includes a formation in each portion of the side and bottom wall which extends from a first selected area of the sidewall in a direction towards another selected area in the sidewall which is spaced from the first area. The formation is engageable with the one end of the straw and when the straw is pushed into the depression, initiates rupture in the depression adjacent the second area.

Abstract: A float maker of the preferred embodiment consists of a mug and a removable mixing cap which is connectable to and detachable from the mug. The mixing cap covers a mug opening to define a lower chamber for containing carbonated soda pop. The mixing cap has detachable interlocking upper and lower sections which can be alternately assembled to define an upper chamber or disassembled. The lower section has a cylindrical sleeve which fits within and sealingly abuts against an interior surface of the mug. The lower section has a floor which separates the upper and lower chambers, and an entrance aperture formed along the periphery thereof to provide fluid passage between the upper and lower chambers. Similarly, an exit aperture is provided in the periphery of the upper section to provide fluid passage from the upper chamber. The entrance and exit apertures are offset from a central axis to facilitate flow of the beverage and to help reduce the melt rate of the ice cream contained in the mixing cap.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a container for liquid which is able to retain the liquid therein for drinking purposes at a temperature close to its original temperature for a period of time. The design of the top or lid makes it easy to insert, and the new single straight spring arm design utilize a thicker spring arm, will assure vertical tension it needs keep the liquid from spilling out, and it eliminates the need for a gasket to seal the top or lid. The improved exterior shape will make silkscreen process easier.

Abstract: A disposable volume-extending drink-through lid for hot and cold beverages that extends beyond the upper edge of a drinking cup is provided. The lid may be integrally formed by conventional thermoforming processes to include a cup engaging section, a raised volume-extending section and a drink-through section above the upper surface of the volume-extending section to allow a consumer to drink without leakage or spills beverages such as whipped cream-topped cappuccino, ice cream sodas and the like while moving or in a moving vehicle.

Abstract: A travel mug includes a container and a lid in combination. The container has a handle and an annular lip. The lid has an annulus capable of forming a seal with the top side of the annular lip. A cylindrical well in the lid has a vertical dividing wall so that the lid may be readily rotated by hand. Two retaining arms extend from the underside of the lid and engage the underside of the annular lip to pull it into tight abutment therewith. Diametrically opposed gaps in the lip act as passageways for the retaining arms. Diametrically opposed notches in the lid when aligned with the gaps allow a person to drink from the otherwise sealed container.

Abstract: The present invention relates to the field of liquid beverage containers which prevents the liquid from spilling or splashing, inhibits heat transfer, and keeps the container upright. The beverage container is designed to include a ring section having an inner concave surface to securely hold a flexible lid part. The flexible lid part which removably fits to the inner concave ring surface at the ring section of the mug includes a notch aperture on its circumference for allowing a small amount of fluid to flow through for drinking while the lid is in place and a finger pull for handling the lid part.

Abstract: A protective cap having a sealable cover for canned soft drinks and the like is disclosed. The cap comprises an outer periphery configured to receive and snap over a conventional beverage can such that a gas-tight seal is formed, a grate positioned to cover the opening in the top of the can through which the beverage may be consumed, and a hingeable cover having a seal which can be rotated between opened and closed positions to permit consumption of the beverage when in the open position and to seal the container when in the closed position. The sealing of the container prevents contamination of the enclosed beverage and seals in carbonation. It also prevents spillage if the container is overturned.

Abstract: A self-sealing closure for sealing a receptacle is disclosed. The closure contains a lid having a depressed area and at least one orifice within the depressed area, and a shutter matching the orifice which contains a lever.The shutter is held against the orifice. The shutter contains a device for preventing the pushing of the shutter away from the orifice when force is applied to the lever in a direction substantially orthogonal to the plane of the orifice.

Abstract: A holder for a liquid containing package such as an aseptic juice package including a housing that receives the aseptic juice package in secure relation therein, the housing having an internal projection fixed therein that is received in an opening as formed in the juice package when the package is inserted into the housing, the projection having a passage formed therein that communicates with a feed member that is mounted on the housing, the liquid in the package being directed through the passage in the projection and outwardly of the feed member through a feed passage as formed therein when the holder is tipped by the user during the use thereof.

Abstract: A removable closure cover for a drinking vessel such as a cup or mug has an outer cover for attachment to the mouth of the vessel, with an aperture adjacent the edge through which a user may drink. An inner cover secured to the outer cover is selectively moveable into opening or closing relation with the aperture. While useable with insulated plastic drinking cups, the closure cover also may be used with traditional mug or cup forms, to enable transportation of a hot drink in sealed, insulated relation, thus extending the utility of the traditional, non-disposable mug, in an ecology promoting fashion. Manipulation of the cover provides controlled ventilation of the container and permits modulation of the cooling time for a hot drink contained therein.

The cap comprises an outer periphery configured to receive and snap over the upper surface of a conventional soft drink beverage can. A lip guard extends axially downward from the cap to provide a sanitary drinking surface. A grate is positioned to cover the opening in the top of the can through which the beverage may be consumed. The grate is formed as an integral portion of the molded cap. A hinged cover can rotate between opened and closed positions to permit consumption of the soft drink when in the opened position and to seal the container to prevent contamination from airborne debris and small insects when in the closed position. A detent formed upon the lower surface of the cover is received between adjacent bars of the grate to latch the cover in the closed position.

Abstract: A protective cap having a sealable cover for canned soft drinks and the like is disclosed. Abstract: A holder for a liquid containing package such as an aseptic juice package including a housing that receives the aseptic juice package in secure relation therein, the housing having an internal projection fixed therein that is received in an opening as formed in the juice package when the package is inserted into the housing, the projection having a passage formed therein that communicates with a feed member that is mounted on the housing, the liquid in the package being directed through the passage in the projection and outwardly of the feed member through a feed passage as formed therein when the holder is tipped by the user during the use thereof.

Abstract: A drink mug with open top, closed bottom, and a body portion between the top and bottom, an inwardly projecting ring in the body portion, spaced vertical passages in the ring, spaced notches in the body portion below the ring, a lid for resting on the ring, and latch members carried on the lid and projecting downward therefrom with the latch members passing through the vertical passages as the lid is positioned on the ring, and with the latch members positioned in the notches when the lid is rotated on the ring latching the lid in place on the ring. In the preferred embodiment flexible fingers connecting the latch members to the lid, with two vertical passages opposite each other, and two notches opposite each other and at 90.degree. to the vertical passages.

Abstract: A drinking spout and cover apparatus affixes to the top of drink cans forming a seal therewith. The user is thus protected from scores on the top of the can. A skirt portion of the cover can be used as a lever to open the tab opening of such drink cans.
