  • Patent number: 7121437
Abstract: A fluid dispensing system includes a closure assembly. The closure assembly is configured to enclose a container opening. The closure assembly has a fluid supply tube with an opening and a shut-off valve threadedly coupled to the supply tube. The shut-off valve has a valve member configured to close the opening in the supply tube upon rotating the shut-off valve in a first direction and to open the opening in the supply tube upon rotating the shut-off valve in a second direction. A cap assembly is coupled to the closure assembly. The cap assembly has a connector member with a fluid passage fluidly coupled to the supply tube. The cap assembly is coupled to the shut-off valve to rotate the shut-off valve in the first direction and the second direction. The configuration of the system eliminates the need for spring based valves.

  • Patent number: 7111637
Abstract: An enclosure for a pressure relief device, particularly pressure relief devices mounted on electrical equipment housings, is pre-assembled together with the pressure relief device. The enclosure, which provides for temporarily confining and directing fluids discharged from the pressure relief device, is pre-assembled leaving a clearance space so that the pressure relief device can be mounted on the housing with the enclosure system in place. A peripheral shield with an opening for attaching the enclosure to a discharge pipe or other duct work remains rotatable until deliberately secured in place. Components can be shared between the enclosure and the pressure relief device to provide a more efficient and cost effective design.

  • Patent number: 6901950
Abstract: Fire hydrant locking devices prevent fire hydrants from being turned on without a key. A fire hydrant has a keyhole in its sidewall. A security bolt is threadedly inserted into the keyhole with one end frictionally engaging with the valve stem in the interior of the fire hydrant in one embodiment. In an alternative embodiment, the security bolt pushes a locking pin through a locking pin hole in the valve stem. The security bolt has key projections that are accessed through the keyhole by a key wrench. The key wrench has key slots that mate with the key projections. The key wrench has a handle for applying torque to the security bolt. The fire hydrant has hose connection ports connected to its sidewall that are removably covered by covers.

  • Patent number: 6112761
Abstract: A fire hydrant locking device comprises a clamp which engages the hydrant stem and includes apertured butterfly wings which are engaged by a forked rod locking the stem in a closed position. The rod extends through a donut to engage a tubular recess in the cap. Spring loaded curved pins engage the rod within the tubular recess and extend outwardly through the cap. A wrench having a circular recess with inward projections engages the cap pins to permit turning the threaded cap and permit access to the locked stem for actuation of the hydrant.

  • Patent number: 6089253
Abstract: A fire hydrant security system for mounting on a standpipe of a fire hydrant wherein the hydrant has a mounting surface with holes therethrough and a bonnet mounted on the mounting surface, the bonnet surrounding a valve operating spindle assembly. The system includes a security gap which is surrounded by a protective collar spaced from the security cap to define an annular gap. An operating tool having a socket which fits into the gap and surrounds the security cap is used to couple the security cap to the valve operating spindle to open the fire hydrant. The protective collar is preferably made of forged ductile iron and is bolted to the fire hydrant by being bolted to a mounting surface on the standpipe or by being secured by bolts to the bonnet. The security cap is thus protected from blows by sledge hammers wielded by vandals and water thieves.
