  • Patent number: 8534481
Abstract: An arrangement for transporting uranium hexafluoride, including an inner tank and an outer tank which holds the inner tank and which includes first and second shells. A valve extends from an end face of the inner tank, and is surrounded by the outer tank at a distance and is covered on the outside by at least one shock-absorbing element. In order to ensure a defined positioning of the valve extending from the inner tank and thus of the inner tank to the outer tank surrounding the inner tank, it is proposed that the shock-absorbing protective element extend in a pivoting manner from one of the shells of the outer tank, such that if the inner tank is properly positioned, the protective element can be pivoted into a position covering the valve, and such that if the outer tank holding the inner tank is closed, the protective element is covered on the outside by at least one of the shells.

Abstract: A lockout cover for restricting access to ports, valves, regulators and/or gauges shielded by a halo handling ring on top of a Dewar bottle. The lockout cover includes a cap seatable on the halo ring. A hatch on a side of the cap can be pivoted between an open position to allow access to the ports, valves, regulators and gauges, and a closed position to allow locking the cap to the halo ring to block access to the ports, valves, regulators and gauges.

  • Patent number: 6789692
Abstract: A container is provided having corresponding shells that mate together about a joint to create an enclosed airtight container. A valve seat is formed on the exterior of a shell adjacent the joint. The valve seat has an opening in communication with the container interior. A latch assembly is used to secure the shells in a closed position. The assembly includes a latch body which is attached to a shell by a hinge fastener close to said joint. The inside face of the latch body is provided with a valve gasket having a curved outer face that is aligned and sealingly engageable with the valve seat. When the latch is closed, the gasket will seal against the valve seat. When the latch is dislodged from its connection to the other shell, the gasket will be simultaneously removed from the valve seat and allow air to flow through the opening. This action permits equalization of any pressure differentials between ambient pressure and the pressure in the container interior.

  • Patent number: 6247491
Abstract: A childproof cover for use with a compressed gas cylinder having a shut-off valve inhibits access to the valve. The childproof cover is especially intended for use with propane cylinders for barbecues. The cover includes a housing that surrounds the valve and an open top end for access to the valve. One embodiment of the cover includes a threaded cap that closes the open top end. The cap is adapted to be removed only when a certain force is applied to the cap. Another embodiment of the cover includes a hinged cap with a clip member for securing the cap to the housing. The cover efficiently safeguards the valve from manipulation by children and can be fabricated from molded thermoplastic or metal parts at low cost.

  • Patent number: 6209749
Abstract: A lower portion of a shell is slidable along the length of the body of a gas cylinder, the upper portion of the shell is larger than the lower portion and includes a wall extending fixedly from the lower portion configured to laterally surround the valve, gauge and regulator on an end of the gas cylinder and is movable with the lower portion so that it can movably extend over the body of the cylinder. In another design, a rigid shield is mounted on a bar so that it extends over a periphery of the valve, gauge and regulator group that is mounted on an end of the gas cylinder to protect the group against damage by a foreign object when the cylinder is pressed into spaced apart brackets on the bar that prevent rotation of the cylinder around the bar, by a belt around the cylinder and bar. At least one of the brackets is configured to receive a second cylinder.

  • Patent number: 5845809
Abstract: A cover for placement on a compressed gas bottle is dimensioned to closely conform to the shape and size of a top section of a compressed gas bottle with a control valve assembly installed thereon. The cover preferably includes a shell having first and second shell members connected by a living hinge, a plurality of clasps for holding the first and second shell members together in a closed configuration of the shell and a handle for carrying the cover and a compressed gas bottle to which it is closed upon. The upper portion of each of the first and second shell members are preferably lined with a resiliently compressible foam for cushioning against a control valve assembly of a compressed gas bottle. In a preferred embodiment of the cover, each of the first and second shell members has at least one friction band of a rubber or elastomeric material disposed therein for compressibly contacting a compressed gas bottle and thereby resisting slippage of the cover with respect to the compressed gas bottle.

  • Patent number: 5638858
Abstract: A new and improved gas cylinder safety cover for protecting the valve, gauge, and regulator assembly of pressurized cylinders, such as in oxyacetylene torch sets, from damage due to a fall or dropped object and additionally protecting nearby people from flying metal fragments that may be propelled by the explosive force resulting from such damage. The gas cylinder safety cover comprises a rigid shield releasably attachable to a standard compressed gas cylinder. The shield has perforated metal sides wherethrough the gas cylinder gauges may be viewed, and a fixed metal top. The shield further has a metal bottom plate hingedly connected thereto whereby the valve, gauge, and regulator assembly is exposed when the shield is hinged back open or enclosed when the shield is hinged forward closed. The new gas cylinder safety cover further includes a latch to secure the shield in the closed position and a bracket to releasably secure the shield to the gas cylinder body.

  • Patent number: 5544782
Abstract: A pressure vessel for reducing air entrapment bubbles inherent in lost pattern type casting mould compounds and for increasing the density of the mould material, which in turn has proven to provide a smoother finished surface to the cast material. The pressure vessel consists of separable upper and lower halves held together under loading with an eccentric cam system. The eccentric cam has an overcenter position which causes a greater closing force to be applied to the pressure vessel as pressure is increased within the chamber. Integral to the closing cam is a separate locking cam which operates in unison with the eccentric cam to prevent the eccentric cam's positioning lever arm from being moved while the chamber of the pressure vessel is pressurized.
