The retainer has an inner and an outer perimeter which together define an closed geometric shape which is registrable about a periphery of one of the first and second surfaces of the sealing assembly. The elastomeric member has a sealing portion, and a concentric retaining portion which is generally-upstanding relative to the retaining portion. The sealing portion is configured to be compressible axially intermediate the first and second interface surfaces for effecting one or more fluid-tight seals therebetween. The elastomeric member, in turn, has oppositely disposed first and second axial surfaces. One of the first and second axial surfaces defines a margin of the retaining portion sized to interferingly engage the periphery when the gasket is mounted coaxially thereto.
