Patent number: 10167121Abstract: A container has an opening and an automatic closure. A closure flap is secured to a pivot arm, the other end of which has a weighted portion. The closure flap and pivot arm are located within the container. When the container is in a normal upright position, the weighted portion biases the closure flap into a closed position. When the container is rotated in a first direction, the weighted portion causes the pivot arm and closure flap to rotate in a second, opposite direction so that the opening is exposed.Type: GrantFiled: November 25, 2014Date of Patent: January 1, 2019Inventor: Michael Murray

Patent number: 9994353Abstract: A package includes an outer sleeve (60) and a lockable receptacle (50). The package has a two-part locking mechanism for locking the lockable receptacle within the outer sleeve. The package also has a release mechanism including a moveable tab (76) that may be depressed to cause the two-part locking mechanism to be unlocked as well as to case the lockable receptacle to be at least partially withdrawn from the outer sleeve. The moveable tab is oriented at a non-normal angle relative to a lateral axis (x) of the outer sleeve. The non-normal angle is defined as a first angle (?) between the lateral axis and a notional axis (C) which runs centrally of the moveable tab through the anchored portion and to a medial point (M) of the front edge.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2015Date of Patent: June 12, 2018Assignee: WestRock MWV, LLCInventors: Tanuja A. Patent number: 6216904Abstract: The drink can has an off-center opening in its lid, which is firmly connected to the body surface, and is fastened to the body surface by a flanged rim. A closure cap is arranged in a rotatable but non-removable fashion, on this flanged rim. The closure cap has two annular beads that are directed towards the lid, and of which the second annular bead surrounds an opening which has the same eccentricity as the opening in the lid. The first annular bead surrounds a closed region that comprises a sealing ring and a deformable bulge. In the closed state of the drink can, the sealing ring rests on the apex of an annular bead that surrounds the opening. The annular bead is therefore also arranged to be off-center, so that it surrounds the annular bead when the closure cap is in the appropriate rotational position. After the convex bulge has been pressed into a permanent concave position, the closure cap can be rotated, so that the opening in the closure cap aligns with the opening in the lid.Type: GrantFiled: October 25, 1999Date of Patent: April 17, 2001Inventor: Michael N. Patent number: 6024215Abstract: A portable compact disc carrier is designed to hold a plurality of compact discs. A pair of covers are hinged at a pivot joint on a base bracket, having hollow pins movable therein. Dampening grease is swept on the surface of the pins when they are inserted into integrated cylinder drums on the base bracket. The outer ends of the pins are fixed on the covers. This arrangement restrains the speed of the covers' motion when they are turning open. Two springs are used to pre-load the covers so that they are always in the opening state when they are not hooked up by a latch assembly with a latch button. The button can be turned 90 degrees in the closed state to disable accidental opening of the compact disc carrier. A plurality of disc holding sleeve compartments are also hinged on the base bracket so that they can rotate in a fan-like configuration about an axis parallel to that of the covers. A leaf spring between the disc holders causes half to turn towards one cover and the other half towards the other cover.Type: GrantFiled: July 6, 1999Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Inventor: Chan Sik Leung
