Abstract: A lid assembly for use with a waste management system includes a lid having an opening defined therethrough, wherein the lid assembly is configured to couple to a container. The lid assembly also includes at least one flap assembly including a counterbalance mechanism pivotally coupled to the lid and a flap portion coupled to the counterbalance mechanism. The flap assembly is moveable between a closed position and an open position to selectively obstruct the opening.

Abstract: A washing machine comprising a cabinet open at an upper portion, a top cover coupled to the upper portion of the cabinet and including an opening for loading and unloading laundry therethrough, a lid assembly rotatably coupled to the top cover to open and close the opening, and a first hinge unit connecting the lid assembly with the top cover and reducing a speed of closing the lid assembly is provided. In the washing machine, the closing speed of the lid assembly is reduced to mitigate shock between the lid assembly and the top cover.

Abstract: Embodiments disclosed herein provide an apparatus that includes a container configured to store and transport drilling waste, a lid coupled to the container, and at least one arm coupled to the lid and configured to lift or lower the lid when moved, wherein the at least one arm comprises a counterweight. Disclosed embodiments also provide a method of opening and closing an apparatus. The method includes moving at least one arm coupled to a lid of the apparatus to an open position, wherein the apparatus is configured to store and transport drilling waste, disposing drilling waste in the apparatus, and moving the at least on arm coupled to the lid of the apparatus to a closed position. Disclosed embodiments also provide a method of modifying a mud skip that includes coupling at least one arm to a lid of the mud skip configured to store and transport drilling waste, wherein the at least one arm comprises a counterweight.

Abstract: Lid for a container for filling the container from above, the opening being closable by a pivotable closure element mounted on an inner side of the lid so as to be rotatable about a first axis (X) which axis is horizontal when the lid is located on top of the container. The closure element includes a first part for closing the top of the container located on one side of the axis (X), and a second part as a counterweight on the other side of the axis (X). A pivotable bias element is rotatably mounted on the inner side of the lid on a second axis (Y) which is parallel to the first axis (X). The bias element is biased onto the second part by gravity and causes the first part to be pressed to the opening.

Abstract: A storage/transport container has a plurality of walls defining an upwardly open vessel having an upper rim and a generally flat cover panel hinged on one of the walls and having an inner edge. The rim has opposite to one of the walls structure forming another inner edge. The cover panel is pivotal into a closed position with the inner edges juxtaposed, retaining formations projecting generally perpendicularly from the inner edge of the cover panel and oppositely from the other inner edge that fit together in the closed position. Hooks are formed on the edges and positioned so as to be opened directly at each other in the closed position. The hooks normally are spaced apart but, on deformation of the cover panel, hook together and preventing separation of the edges.

Abstract: The bird carcass container includes a closed container body adapted to be mounted to a sidewall of a facility. A tubular extension or inlet extends from a side of the container body to the interior of the facility. The inlet includes an access door accessible from the facility interior so that users may deposit dead carcasses into the container body. A trap door is disposed on the bottom of the container body and selectively opened by a bracket actuator attached to the trap door. The door is maintained in a closed position by a system of counterweights. The bracket actuator is operated on by the bucket of a skid steer to open the trap door. The interior of the container includes sloping sides forming a chute towards the bottom of the container body. The rear side of the container may also include an access door.

Abstract: A kiln having a body with an internal chamber accessible via an opening which normally is closed by a closure that is movable. Lift apparatus effects movements of the closure between its closed and opened positions. The lift apparatus includes an arm which overlies the closure and is pivoted to a support independently of the kiln body for rotation about a second axis that is spaced a selected distance from the axis about which the closure rocks. The lift arm is connected to the closure by a pivot coupling which maintains the lift arm and the closure substantially parallel and uniformly spaced apart throughout the movements of the closure. The pivotal connection of the lift arm to the closure enables relative movement of the lift arm and the closure during movements thereof to avoid imposing appreciable stress on either the arm or the closure.

Abstract: The bird carcass container includes a closed container body adapted to be mounted to a sidewall of a facility. A tubular extension or inlet extends from a side of the container body to the interior of the facility. The inlet includes an access door accessible from the facility interior so that users may deposit dead carcasses into the container body. A trap door is disposed on the bottom of the container body and selectively opened by a bracket actuator attached to the trap door. The door is maintained in a closed position by a system of counterweights. The bracket actuator is operated on by the bucket of a skid steer to open the trap door. The interior of the container includes sloping sides forming a chute towards the bottom of the container body. The rear side of the container may also include an access door.

Abstract: A garbage-containing apparatus includes a base, a bin installed on the base, a cover installed on the bin, a pedal installed on the bin or the base, a linking device for linking the pedal to the cover and a buffering device provided between the linking device and the bin. The buffering device buffers the cover through the linking device in a lowering stroke of the cover.

Abstract: A refrigerator having a freezer compartment having an ice maker disposed within the freezer compartment for forming ice pieces and an ice storage bin removably mounted to freezer compartment door below the ice maker having an open top receptacle for receiving ice pieces from the ice maker. The ice storage bin has a movable lid assembly including a frame removably mounted to the top of the ice storage bin and two lid members mounted to the frame. At least one lid member is pivotally mounted to the frame to close the receptacle when pivoted to a generally horizontal position and to open the receptacle when pivoted to a generally vertical position. The pivotal lid member is biased to the generally horizontal position.

Abstract: A lid for a container includes a side element extending from a front of the lid to a rear of the lid. A fulcrum point is formed at one end of the side element and is disposed adjacent to a rear of the lid. A rear surface of the lid includes a portion that projects upwardly and rearwardly to a furthermost rear point that is displaced rearwardly a predetermined distance relative to the fulcrum point. A counter-balance weight is positioned on the furthermost rear point of the lid. Wherein when the lid is raised, the weight of the lid and the counter-balance weight provide a force for raising the lid and to selectively maintain the lid in an open position. When the lid is lowered, the weight of the lid and the counter-balance weight provide a force for closing the lid.

Abstract: A refrigerator having a freezer compartment having an ice maker disposed within the freezer compartment for forming ice pieces and an ice storage bin removably mounted to freezer compartment door below the ice maker having an open top receptacle for receiving ice pieces from the ice maker. The ice storage bin has a movable lid assembly including a frame removably mounted to the top of the ice storage bin and two lid members mounted to the frame. At least one lid member is pivotally mounted to the frame to close the receptacle when pivoted to a generally horizontal position and to open the receptacle when pivoted to a generally vertical position. The pivotal lid member is biased to the generally horizontal position.

Abstract: A waste bin structure includes an inner barrel, an outer barrel, and a barrel lid. The lid cover includes an inner cover, an outer cover, and a locking portion. The inner cover is provided with a touch portion that may be pressed to pivot the inner cover upward independently. The outer barrel has a connecting portion defining a hanging recess, and the inner barrel is provided with a hanging hook portion secured in the hanging recess. The outer barrel is provided with a hood to form a handle portion of the outer barrel, so that the outer barrel is portable. The lid cover of the waste bin structure can be opened by a triggering action, and alternatively by a stepping action of a foot.

Abstract: A waste container assembly comprises a container body, a lid body, a flange and a door. The container body has an upper rim. The lid body has an outer surface extending from a top of the lid body to a lower portion of the lid body. The lower portion of the lid body is shaped and adapted for engagement with the upper rim of the container body. The flange extends from the lid body and has an inner rim that at least partially defines an opening in the lid body. The door is positioned adjacent the opening in the lid body and is pivotally connected to the flange for selectively moving the door between open and closed positions relative to the lid body. The door is adapted to substantially cover the opening in the lid body when the door is in its closed position. In another embodiment, the door pivots about a pivot axis and has a rim engaging portion adapted for engagement with the inner rim of the lid body when the door is in its closed position.

Abstract: A lid assembly for a process chamber. The lid assembly includes a hinge having a hinge mount affixed to the chamber and a hinge arm. A pin extends from the hinge mount through an elongated slot in the hinge arm allowing both rotational and longitudinal motion of the hinge arm relative to the hinge mount. A support frame attached to the hinge arm has two side arms that extend perpendicularly from the hinge arms toward the front of the chamber. The lid is pivotally connected to the side arms by a pivot connection aligned with the center of mass of the lid. A detent extends from the lid through a slot in the side arm at a position offset from the pivot connection. The detent and slot serve to limit the allowable rotation of the lid relative to the lid support frame. Thus, the lid is allowed to float over the opening of the chamber as the lid is closed so that the lid may be positioned in parallel alignment relative to the opening of the chamber before being secured to the chamber.

Abstract: A trash receptacle with a slowly closing lid is provided. A band of elastomeric material is provided around the rim of the trash receptacle opening to soften contact between the lid and the receptacle. The lid of the trash receptacle may be opened by depressing a foot pedal. When it is desired to close the trash receptacle lid, the foot pedal may be released. This causes the lid to close under its own weight. The lid has a damper arrangement that retards movement of the lid as the lid closes. The slow movement of the lid that is provided by the damper arrangement allows the lid to close quietly and safely by itself.

Abstract: A portable bulk storage container having a counterweight mechanism for opening and closing a heavy lid. The container comprises a substantially gas and liquid tight tank secured inside of a frame. An opening is positioned on a front portion of a top of the tank. A lid is pivotally connected to the top of the tank for sealing the opening. A pair of fulcrums or connecting members extend from opposite sides of a rear portion of the lid. A counterweight is attached to each fulcrum. Each counterweight has an elongated lever end which extends away from the rear of the lid such that the counterweight can be used to rotate the lid between closed and open positions. Each counterweight is positioned beyond a side wall of the tank such that the counterweights can be rotated along the side wall of the tank, thereby effectively utilizing the limited amount of space available inside of the frame.
