Abstract: A container closure integrally formed from a synthetic resin includes a body, which has an upper surface wall, and an outer lid connected to the body so as to be pivotable between a closed position at which the upper surface wall of the body is covered and an open position at which the upper surface wall of the body is opened, wherein a raised portion having discharge ports formed on both sides is disposed on the upper surface wall of the body, the discharge ports formed on both sides of the raised portion are opened when the outer lid is pivoted to the open position, while the discharge ports formed on both sides of the raised portion are sealed fully reliably when the outer lid is pivoted to the closed position.

Abstract: In one example, a bistable cover assembly includes a cover, a base, an intermediate part; and pre-tensioned spring, the spring being attached to the base and the intermediate part such that the spring biases the intermediate part into two stable positions, the cover interfacing with the intermediate part and being closed in a first of the two stable positions and open in a second of the two stable positions. A method for assembling a cover assembly is also described.

Abstract: Disclosed is a bottom discharge container suitable for being handled by a container handling arrangement. The bottom discharge container includes a pair of opposed end walls, a pair of opposed side walls connected to the end walls and forming an enclosure, and an at least partially displaceable floor which is displaceable between a raised, closed position in which it extends across a bottom of the enclosure to form a base of the container, and a lower, open position in which at least part of the floor is displaced away from the bottom of the enclosure to define a discharge opening in the bottom of the container for discharging a load from the container. The container also includes a floor displacement arrangement adapted to be automatically engageable by the door actuating mechanism of the container handling arrangement in order to open and/or close the displaceable floor.

Abstract: A litter bin includes a lid hingeably connected to a container. Opposite the hinge, a latch selectively secures the lid to the container. The latch includes a pivotably mounted latch member that has a center of gravity offset from its pivot point. The latch member also includes a catch portion that moves between a locked position and an unlocked position upon pivoting of the latch member. Because the center of gravity of the latch member is offset from the pivot point, tilting the litter bin causes pivoting of the latch member, thereby moving the catch portion from the locked position to the unlocked position.

Abstract: The theft proof lid according to the invention provides a lockable lid for a container, in particular, a standard 200-300 gallon grease bin used by most rendering and bio-fuel companies. The theft proof lid keeps thieves from stealing the bin contents. The lid is permanently installed onto the bin. A dual locking feature of the lid allows for easy pumping or dumping of the bin. First, locking pins for locking and unlocking the front corners of the lid are provided. A front half of the lid is foldable relative to a rear half of the lid, so that the front half may be unlocked and opened for pumping out the contents of the bin. A center locking bar is provided to lock the rear half of the lid from being opened. The locking bar is removed when the bin is to be lifted and dumped, allowing the lid to swing open on a back lid hinge, particularly when the lid is in a folded position.

Abstract: An apparatus for inspecting discarded items prior to disposal has a receptacle suitable for fitting on an opening of a disposal container, a tray pivotally mounted in the inner opening of the receptacle so as to be movable between a generally horizontal first position and an angularly disposed second position, a handle connected to the tray and extending radially outwardly therefrom, and a latch cooperative with the handle for fixing the tray in the first position and for releasing the tray from the first position when a lifting force is applied to the handle. The second position is suitable for allowing discarded articles to pass into the container.

Abstract: A refuse container has a lid rotatably coupled to a bin. A locking mechanism for the lid includes a latch including a handle and is moveable between a locked lid position and an unlocked lid position. A detent acts between the bin and the lid and cooperates with the latch so as to effect locking of the lid to the bin when the latch is in the locked lid position, and permit movement of the lid, relative to the bin, from the closed position to the open position when the latch is in the unlocked lid position.

Abstract: A refuse container has a lid rotatably coupled to a bin. A locking mechanism for the lid includes a latch including a handle and is moveable between a locked lid position and an unlocked lid position. According to aspects of the disclosure, the twist ring may be configured to extend around the cap. Abstract: In various embodiments, a closure may include a base attachable to a container. The closure may further include an engagement insert receivable in the base. The engagement insert may include screw thread formations for engaging corresponding formations on a container neck. The base and insert may together form a co-operating uni-directional rotation arrangement which prevents rotation in a direction of screwing onto a container neck but allows relative rotation in a direction of unscrewing, whereby to prevent unscrewing of the closure. In various embodiments, a closure for a container may include a top deck, an outer skirt and an inner skirt. The inner skirt may be engagable with a container neck. The inner skirt and/or top deck may comprise one or more regions of weakness arranged to break and/or deform if an attempt is made to remove the closure from a neck following first application, whereby to prevent re-application.

Abstract: A security closure system for terminating the hose-connector connected to the outlet of a storage tank whose contents are to be periodically pumped out. A first male-outlet component is provided with an outer, circumferential annual groove for reception therein of camming elements of camming arms, and has a terminal projecting tongue provided with an opening or hole for receiving a locking device, such as a padlock. The male-component is further provided with an enlarged mounting flange for mounting the male-component to a wall of the storage tank or to a bulkhead adjacent the storage tank. The security closure system also comprises a second female part, which is a female closure cap that matingly receives therein the first male-component. The closure cap has a slot for passing therethrough the tongue of the first male-component, whereby a padlock or other lock may be used for locking the cap in place over the first male-component.

The tray may be manufactured from a paper pulp material, such as molded pulp. The door component and tray may be installed between a pair of panels. The door component may include a door portion and a flange portion joined along a hinge. The flange portion may be sandwiched between the panels to hold the door component in place. The door portion may be movable about the hinge to allow the package to be opened and closed. The door portion may interface with the door panel in a way that resists movement of the door portion between the open position and the closed position. The door portion may include snap elements configured to have an interference fit with the door panel.

Abstract: Disclosed is a peel and attach container seal that includes an upper cover surface having two connecting portions over an open container aperture. A release film is removed prior to adhering the first and second connecting portions along opposing sides of the container aperture, whereafter the upper surface resealably covers the aperture by way of a pull tab along one end. The first connecting portion comprises a high strength adhesive that is not adapted to separate from the container outer surface or the upper cover surface. The second connecting portion includes a multi-layer connection between the cover surface and the container surface, allowing ready peeling and reattaching of the cover while a resealing, high strength adhesive layer is retained on the container surface. The cover is therefore operably removable from over the container aperture by separation of the second connection portion layers and peeling back over the first connection portion.

Abstract: A food product dispenser has a hinged lid which can be converted between a self-closing lid and a lid which is not self-closing and, in the non-self-closing configuration, can be retained open by gravity, including while the dispenser is in a frontwardly-tilted orientation. The invention includes methods of making the lid conversion while setting up the dispenser, illustratively by inspecting one or all of the hinge structures and adding a hinge stop to a hinge structure, or removing a hinge stop from the hinge structure, in light of the result of the inspection. An optional frontwardly-disposed down panel may have a planar surface or surface element which can be printed with graphics and/or a textual message.

Abstract: A communication box includes a box body and a box lid. The box body has an accommodation space therein. The box lid includes a lid body and two engaging members. Upper and lower ends of the two engaging members are detachably connected to the box body. The two engaging members are respectively and pivotally connected two opposing sides of the lid body, so that the two engaging members are rotatable relative to the lid body. Compared the conventional communication box, the communication box of the present invention can be opened in different ways. Through one of the two engaging members, either side of the box lid can be opened. Alternatively, the box lid can be detached from the box body through disengagement of the two engaging members. The present invention can be used in different occasions and is convenient for operation, without limitation of space.

The paperboard is configured to bring the two plastic components into registration when the panels are folded together along the hinge. The plastic components may be configured to releasably interlock when the package is closed. The opening may include a seat shaped to closely receive and provide a stop for the shoulder.

A push button release is activated to unlock the outer lid and permit the outer lid to pivot to a position exposing the drink spout for access by a user. The outer lid may be snapped of the inner lid by moving the outer lid beyond an open position. A bail handle on the outer lid is retained in a stowed position in a recess in the outer lid or is moved to a deployed position. The bail handle disconnects from the outer lid when moved beyond the deployed position. The push button for releasing the closed outer lid is enclosed within a tunnel in the inner lid.

The hinge assembly further includes a hinge link rotatably coupled to the hinge arm at one end and rotatably coupled to the first compression surface at the other. A latch assembly is provided that has a latch arm rotatably coupled to the tank intermediate its ends. The latch assembly further includes a latch link rotatably coupled to the latch arm at one end and releasably engaging the second compression surface at the other. Accordingly, rotating the hinge and latch arms results in a first and second pressure engaging the cover along the first and second compression surfaces to secure the cover to the tank.

Abstract: A cover for a pie pan or similar type of pan or plate has a ring and a lid pivotally attached to the ring by a flex joint. A pan is placed into the ring with a lip of the pan resting on top of the ring. The cover is folded over and pressed down onto the ring. Interlocking elements on tabs on the ring and lid engage each other and hold the lid down onto the ring, with the lip of the pan between them. The lid may include inwardly projecting teeth spaced apart on an inside surface of the lid, with the teeth adapted to hold the lip of a pan between the ring and the lid.

Abstract: Containers with child resistant safety caps are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the cap contains (1) an overlay and (2) a solid base. The overlay fits around at least a portion of the cap's solid base. At an end of the overlay is a thumb tab for facilitating the opening and closing of the cap. The overlay also contains a skirt that is perpendicular to the thumb tab. The skirt of the overlay contains a tab. At the end of the solid base proximal to the location of the tab on the overlay (when the cap is in the closed position) the solid base contains a notch. When the cap is shut, the overlay is secured around the solid base. If an upward force is only applied to the thumb tab, and then the overlay is lifted up, while the solid base of the cap remains secured to the container.

Abstract: A hinged lid for a container receptacle is provided. The lid structure includes a top attached to a mount structure by a “living” hinge. The mount structure is designed for mounting the lid to an open free end of the receptacle. The lid is provided with a retaining mechanism adapted for maintaining the mount structure in a folded position with respect to the top of the lid thereby enabling the lid to be placed on a receptacle using an automatic lidding machine. The retaining feature includes a projection and a recess, wherein the projection is adapted for begin received within the recess. In one embodiment, the projection extends from the mount structure and is adapted to be received within a recess defined in the lid's top. In another embodiment, the projection extends from the lid's top and is adapted to be received within a recess defined in the mount structure.

The locking ring is polygonal in shape and includes a substantially cylindrical surface and a conical surface. The continuous lateral skirt (11) has an internal thread (9), and a flap (10) or ring is provided at the lower edge of the skirt for attaching the lid to the neck of a container. The inwardly extending flap (1) secures the lid (1) against axial movement when the lid is rotated in order to unscrew it. The cap (2) has a sealing plug (14) that closes the pouring opening (13) and an external flap (4) from which a locking body (5) protrudes, the locking body (5) having a central cutout that forms a spring blade (6) that extends outwards from the locking body (5).

Abstract: A storage container according to the present invention includes a base and a lid hingedly coupled to one another to enable rotation of the lid between a closed position in which the lid is disposed parallel with a bottom wall of the base and an open position in which the lid is rotated with respect to the base between 110 and 230 degrees. A number of hinge assemblies are provided between the base and the lid for rotation of the lid thereabout. The hinge assemblies include a base engaging assembly and a lid engaging assembly for coupling between the base and the lid respectively. The lid engaging assembly includes a receiver configured to engage a pin of the lid for hinged rotation of the lid thereabout. The receiver is configured to enable the lid to break away from the lid as desired or under impact from an external force.

Abstract: A sharps disposal system for safely collecting and disposing of medical sharps includes a cabinet defining an enclosure for receiving a removable used sharps receptacle therein. The cabinet includes a passageway through which sharps may be deposited in the sharps receptacle. A single lock, double door design facilitates safe removal and disposal of sharps deposited in the sharps receptacle.

Abstract: A lid is provided that includes an access opening in a top wall thereof selectively coverable by a pivotable cover. The lid attaches to a foodstuff container and provides access to an interior of the container. The lid achieves this without requiring removal of the lid while also providing an impeded foodstuff dispense path having greater control. The cover pivots between open and closed positions, and in one form, can be secured in one or both positions. This can be achieved by releasably securing the cover to the top wall to hold the cover in the closed position and/or capturing a tab of the cover within a depression in an edge portion of the lid to hold the cover in the open position. The cover can further be integrally attached to the lid so that the cover is generally coplanar with the top wall when in the closed position.

Abstract: A sharps disposal system for safely collecting and disposing of medical sharps includes a cabinet defining an enclosure for receiving a removable used sharps receptacle therein. Abstract: Reclosable pour systems useful on any suitable container and containers comprising the reclosable pour systems are disclosed. The system features a pour opening comprising a hinged flap and a tab that enables latchable reclosing and reopening of the pour opening, to allow the pouring of a flowable material contained within the container. A unitary blank capable of being cut and folded to produce a container comprising the reclosable pour system, as well as methods of manufacture and use of a container comprising the reclosable pour system, are also disclosed.

Abstract: A re-sealable package and method of making the same. The package includes a base having a cavity for receiving an article, and a hinged cover for forming a releasable snap fit closure with the base. A plurality of channels are in fluid communication between the cavity and an upper edge of the base. A volume of gas located within the cavity is removed or otherwise altered through the channels prior to sealing the cover to the base. A slot located adjacent the upper edge of the base provides a path for withdrawing or administering a volume of gas during the gaseous modification, and subsequently receives an extruded portion of the cover to form a lip for forming a releasable snap fit closure.

The lever mechanism portion (30) allows the lid portion (20) to be easily opened with one hand without putting much burden on the fingers even if it is very tightly closed.

The invention provides an improved sealing and closure system.

Abstract: A hinged lid structure is provided that is configured for attachment to a paperboard receptacle. The lid structure includes a tamper evident shield structure that requires breaking at least a portion of the shield structure away to effect exposure of a portion of the lid structure to a user to effect opening of the lid structure. The lid structure also includes a plurality of peripherally spaced apart webs for providing structural rigidity to the lid structure and therefore additional strength the upper open end of the receptacle it is attached to.

The hermetic storage system may include a flexible container, a first member, a second member, and a third member configured for holding the wipes. The flexible container is disposed between the first member and the second member. The third member is releasably coupled to the second member and covers an aperture defined by the second member. The hermetic storage system is configured to provide a hermetic seal when the third member is releasably engaged with the second member.
