  • Patent number: 9387984
Abstract: Disclosed is a lid commonly used for attachment atop dumpsters, trash bins, or waste containers of the type having a circular cross-sectioned lid rod. The lid comprises a three-dimensional rectangular structure reinforced by contoured ribs running lengthwise and further having the capability of being hingedly operated at either the front end or the rear end of the lid. Co-axial, horizontally-oriented circular apertures are provided proximate the front end and rear end of each of the ribs. The apertures permit the hinged attachment of the lid to the waste containers. In this manner, an advantage accrues to a commercial user in that, after a certain amount of wear and tear, the lid may be removed from the waste container and the opposite aperture end may then be attached to the lid rod and used for another extended period of time.

The substantially straight hinge pin is secured in the hinge line via passing the hinge pin through the plastic wall. Subsequently, residual axial and radial stresses caused by passing the hinge pin through the wall cause the opening to contract, thereby retaining the pin. By providing a hinge assembly including a substantially straight hinge pin, the assembly process can be more easily automated.

  • Patent number: 7681752
Abstract: An animal-resistant system for inhibiting access to refuse containers by animals is disclosed. The system comprises at least one latch mechanism, at least one actuation member, at least one shroud member, and a cover defining an opening which permits access to the actuation member. The actuation member communicates with the latch mechanism so as to move the latch mechanism between the latched and unlatched positions. In the latched position, the latch mechanism secures the container lid to the container base, substantially inhibiting access to the container. The access hole and actuation member are dimensioned and positioned on the container in a selected manner so as allow human hands access to the actuation member and unlatch the container while simultaneously inhibiting such access by animals. The shrouds are further configured to inhibit forcible entry into the container when the system is latched.

Abstract: A thermally insulating transportation box, including a base part, two longitudinal side parts, two transverse side parts and at least one top part, which parts bound a transportation space and are produced from a thermally insulating material. The longitudinal side parts and the transverse side parts are pivotably mounted on the base part about pivot axes which each run parallel to the base part, so that they can be folded open from a folded-together arrangement, which extends parallel to the base part, into an arrangement which is perpendicular to this and in which they bound the transportation space, and the transportation space can subsequently be closed by the at least one cover part.

Abstract: A universal lid for industrial or commercial large size solid waste containers, has a ribbed single layer central portion and a peripheral edge having a hollow double wall boxed configuration. The boxed perimeter may have a predetermined height such as approximately one inch, and the lid is provided with hinge lugs having a vertical extent substantially more but not more than twice than said predetermined height. In addition, the lids have substantial symmetry so that the lids may be stacked and nested with alternate lids oriented in opposite front-to-back directions. With this type of lid, the advantages of both single layer and double layer lid constructions may be realized.
