Patent number: 6655543Abstract: A highly adaptable beverage container insulator is designed for a significant size range of beverage containers. The insulator is tubular with open ends that are formed from two elastic panels. Each panel has straight top and bottom edges with elastic hems. The side edges of each panel are slightly curved to maintain the properties and proper appearance of the insulator. To form the insulator, two of the panels are joined along their side edges to form a tube. The insulator is placed around a beverage container to better insulate the container and maintain the temperature of the beverage located therein. The insulator accommodates significant variation in the size and shape of beverage containers. For example, a smaller version of the insulator is readily adaptable to conform to both a standard twelve ounce soda can and to a ten ounce juice bottle.Type: GrantFiled: January 15, 2002Date of Patent: December 2, 2003Inventor: Doyle Keith Beuke

Patent number: 6425494Abstract: An insulator wrap for a beverage container is formed by a substantially rectangular body of insulation material. A self-coiling spring strip is embedded in the body along approximately the longitudinal center line. Because the spring strip is curved in lateral cross section, the wrap is held straight when uncoiled to allow easy storage and handling when not in use. Simple manual pressure frees the spring strip to self-coil inwardly to cause the wrap to extend around the container for use. Extended portions of the rectangular body isolate the spring strip from the edges of the body. In one embodiment, the extended body portions are one and one half times as wide as the spring strip. A foam insert is positioned within the elongated concave trough of the spring strip to provide a substantially smooth display surface for graphics and indicia in either the uncoiled or self-coiled states.Type: GrantFiled: January 3, 2001Date of Patent: July 30, 2002Assignee: Global Products, Inc.Inventor: Max L. A plastic ring (30) is mounted on the outer container about the access opening (34) and has a shoulder section (34) overlying the top of the outer container and a downwardly extending sleeve section (32) integral with the shoulder section and embracing the outer wall (22). An inner container (12) formed of a material selected from the group consisting of glass, plastic and ceramics is nested within the outer container (10) through the access opening and has an open top (16) extending out of the access opening and an outer surface contacting the ring (30).Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 2001Date of Patent: July 16, 2002Assignee: Thermos LLC.Inventors: Shouji Toida, Kazunori Iwasaki, Yasuhiro Murakami

Patent number: 6286709Abstract: An insulating sleeve for a beverage container is provided. The sleeve is constructed from at least two layers of fabric, and has an integral pocket incorporated between the two layers. Two elasticized fleece fabric panels, each having a rectangular body area and a pocket extension, are joined at their edges and then attached at their ends to form the sleeve. The pocket extensions are folded down between the two elasticized fleece fabric panels to form the integral pocket. The insulating sleeve has indicia affixed to its outer surface. The sleeve provides a beverage cup insulating sleeve that is easily positionable on a beverage cup, and that will remain in position without adjustment. It can be machine washed and used repeatedly, instead of thrown away after use. The sleeve can adapt itself to fit a variety of container shapes, and can be folded compactly for storage when not in use. Additionally the pocket provides a way of keeping a punchcard with the sleeve.Type: GrantFiled: April 9, 1999Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Inventor: Cathy Hudson

Patent number: 6277454Abstract: A single walled container for storing hot or cold foods or liquids having a layer of insulation comprised of void containing particles held together with a binder applied to the outer part of the sidewall. The insulation layer provides a controlled amount of insulation which is sufficient to prevent pain to the fingers yet it transmits sufficient heat to warn the user of the temperature of the container's contents. The binder may be any thermoplastic or thermoset resin, and other ingredients may be added to the binder to control viscosity, density, or color.Type: GrantFiled: February 24, 1999Date of Patent: August 21, 2001Assignee: Insulation Dimension CorporationInventors: Douglas L. Patent number: 6182855Abstract: A holder for a container having a sleeve with an inner surface, an outer surface, an upper end and a lower end. The upper end of the sleeve is configured to permit the sleeve to be position on an outer peripheral surface of a container with the inner surface of the sleeve being engaged with an outer peripheral surface of the container. The sleeve is constructed of a insulated, transparent or translucent material to permit a user to comfortably and conveniently hold the outer surface of the sleeve positioned on a container with a hot or cold beverage being disposed therein while permitting indicia printed on an exterior surface of the container to be visible therethrough.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1998Date of Patent: February 6, 2001Inventor: Theodore Alpert

Patent number: 6164487Abstract: An insulative jacket for a beverage container is fabricating from a unitary blank of flexible insulative material into a main body forming an annulus with continuous upper and lower edges openable into an annular form for receiving the beverage container and collapsible along diametrically opposed fold lines into a flattened rectangular form when not in use, and a circular end wall connected to the lower edge of the annulus at diametrically opposed locations with a sewn fold line bisecting the wall to urge it to fold inwardly within the annulus when collapsed into the flattened rectangular form.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 2000Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Numo Manufacturing Company, Inc.Inventor: Michael E. Patent number: 6141969Abstract: A beverage vessel holder (1) is described in which a thermo-electric device (2) including a Peltier effect element (4) provides heating and/or chilling effect to a beverage vessel (10) in use. Extending from the thermo-electric device (2) is a wall assembly (3) comprising an inner wall (6) and an outer wall (7) in a spaced relation such that there is a convection passage (8) therebetween. The thermo-electric device (2) being associated with the wall assembly (3) in order to stimulate convection air movement in the convection passage (8) and so disperse condensate wicked through the inner wall (6) from the beverage vessel (10). Thus, the inner wall (6) is generally made from a foam material in order to allow condensate transmission whilst the outer wall (7) provides a thermal insulation barrier for the holder (1).Type: GrantFiled: February 25, 1999Date of Patent: November 7, 2000Assignee: Rover Group LimitedInventors: Brian Launchbury, Neil Beloe

Patent number: 6123217Abstract: An inflatable cooler having a tubular housing The housing includes an outer wall, a bottom wall and an open topped cooling chamber for receiving a standard sized beverage container. The outer wall supports, internally of the housing, a plurality of inflatable air chambers. An perimetric air chamber wraps around the periphery of the bottom wall and interconnects the air chambers. The air chambers are inflated by an air valve in the outer wall. When the air chambers are inflated, the cooler becomes self-supporting and relatively rigid.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 1998Date of Patent: September 26, 2000Assignee: Manumit, LLCInventor: Michael J.
