At least one of the at least two dispensing carts is adapted to store a first set of items vertically and dispense the first set of items using an unpowered escapement and at least another one of the dispensing carts is adapted to store items horizontally. The system further comprises a box dispenser configured to dispense boxes and a conveyor system disposed beneath the outlets of the at least two dispensing carts. The conveyor system defines a continuous path for boxes from the box dispenser to an end location.

    Abstract: Identical products are stored in a plurality of columns. Dispensing product numbers of the respective columns are calculated in accordance with the numbers of products stored in the respective columns. The calculated dispensing product numbers are set in corresponding counters. The counters are decremented every time a product or products is/are dispensed from each column. When all the counts of the counters are set to "0", the calculated dispensing product numbers are set again in the corresponding counters, and the above operation is repeated, thereby dispensing the products on the FIFO basis.

    Abstract: A magazine is disclosed for dispensing generally cylindrical and elongated articles in a pre-determined order. The magazine comprises a series of shelves with a reciprocating ratcheting plate arranged perpendicular to the shelves. The ratching plate has surface configurations which allow the articles to be advanced in one direction of movement, and remain stationary relative to the shelves in a second opposite direction. The magazine is removable and may be pre-loaded to dispense in a pre-determined order. The magazine finds particular application in the dispensing of samples to an automated analyzer.

    Abstract: A tablet dispenser is disclosed having an elongate hand-held core with a plurality of cavities adapted to contain tablets. A sheath is mounted to the core for slideable movement from a position covering all the cavities to another position uncovering all the cavities. A detent mechanism is employed between the sheath and the core for interrupting the sliding movement after each of the cavities has been uncovered. For spatially orienting the tablet dispenser, and without the need to look at it, distinct physical touch indicia is fixed to the dispenser in lengthwise alignment with the tablet cavities.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for slicing elongated products, such as sausages. A pair of product engaging members are driven simultaneously in opposite directions so that one member can feed the product to a slicer while the other member is returning to the start position. A magazine may be provided for storing a supply of products and automatically discharging the product in timed relationship with the product engaging members. In addition, the product engaging members may have tines for gripping the product during feeding to the slicer and for releasing the waste end of the product during the return stroke.

Each lane includes at least one endless belt for moving a stack of upright substrates toward a front edge of the shelf. A drive mechanism is connected to each belt for driving each belt. A transfer member is provided for each lane adjacent the front end portion of the shelf. Each transfer member projects beyond the effective reach of its associated belt so that the leading substrate to be dispensed is supported by the transfer member prior to dropping downwardly off the free end of the transfer member.

    Abstract: A dispenser comprising a housing having at least one chamber arranged to receive and store articles in pill, pellet, tablet or capsule form in bulk quantities. Embodied in connection with the housing is a feed device, a magazine and a dispensing device. The feed device directs articles from the chamber to load the magazine. The dispensing device is constructed and arranged to normally prevent exit of articles from the magazine and in the operation thereof to provide for passage of a predetermined quantity of articles from the magazine and from the housing. The feed device is operatively connected to the dispensing device to move in conjunction therewith and serve its function in a timed relation to the function of the dispensing device. In the operation thereof the dispensing device functions to agitate the feed device in a manner to insure that the magazine is maintained in a fully loaded condition as long as sufficient articles remain in said chamber.
