Abstract: A magazine for holding a quantity of blind rivets ready for use in an automatic rivet setting tool. The rivets are connected together in spaced relation along the length of an elongated rivet carrying strip or ribbon of flexible material by having a distal portion of each mandrel inserted or pierced therethrough. The magazine includes longitudinal panels connected together in a preferably even, spaced, radially extending arrangement forming a spool. The longitudinal panels each define an outer distal longitudinal edge, all of which are preferably substantially parallel one to another and to a central spool axis. Each rivet carried on the flexible strip, when the flexible strip is spiral-wound around said longitudinal distal edges, is positioned in somewhat radially oriented fashion between adjacent longitudinal panels with the head of each rivet positioned inwardly toward the spool axis.
Abstract: A system for the dissemination of pheromone bearing carrier substrates which includes an airplane/helicopter mountable carrier substrate dispenser, the actuation for release of the carrier substrates loaded into the dispenser being controlled from the cockpit of the plane/helicopter. Each carrier substrate has one A member card and at least one B member card released upon actuation of the dispenser, for disposition of the carrier substrates within treetops, where the pheromone will be released automatically from the substrate of the card to dissipate into the ambient air. The released pheromone acts to confuse male members of a particular pest insect, such that the males are impeded in their efforts to locate females of that specie who would also be disseminating pheromone, to thereby interfere with the mating cycle of such pest insects.
Abstract: A flare dispensing and igniting system comprising a housing for holding a plurality of flares for dispensing. The housing has side walls, end walls and a bottom wall, and a dispensing opening in the bottom wall. A dispensing plate covers a portion of the dispensing opening, with a closed position adjacent to the dispensing opening for preventing flare movement through the dispensing opening. The dispensing plate is pivotable away from the dispensing opening to permit a flare to pass through the dispensing opening. An ejecting assembly is provided in the housing for ejecting flares from the housing and which includes a plunger assembly for pushing a flare through the dispensing opening and past the dispensing plate. The dispensing plate has an inner surface facing the dispensing opening, and the inner surface has an abrasive texture for abrading the end of a flare as the flare passes through the dispensing opening for igniting the flare as the flare is ejected from the interior of the housing.
Abstract: An automatic screw gun which has a guide housing for the driving blade is equipped with a deflecting member that engages the leading end of the screw supply belt to deflect the leading end of the belt out of the path of the screw being driven, including the screw head or a washer below the screw head, whereby it is prevented that portions of the belt can be clamped between the surface of a work piece and the screw head or washer. A spring biases the deflector member into a rest position and the advancing belt brings the deflector member into a working position in which it holds the leading end of the belt out of the way.
