Various structural elements of the apparatus cooperate to provide ease of threading of a roll product lead end into a dispensing member including a downwardly converging, generally cone-shaped wall and to resist inadvertent pinching of the sheet product to be dispensed when the housing members form a closed interior.

  • Patent number: 5749492
Abstract: A Sheet Dispenser for dispensing of flexible and foldable sheets, such as paper towels and the like from a center fed roll thereof. The Sheet Dispenser of the present invention relies upon a member, such as a plate, which may be in the form of or part of a housing for holding the roll of sheets. The plate member is provided with a lower circular dispensing aperture for receiving a leading strip of the sheets from the center fed roll such that a user may grasp and pull outwardly on the sheets in order to achieve a dispensing of the same. The invention relies upon an opening, such as an elongate slot formed in the plate member and in communication with the dispensing aperture and which allows a leading portion of the sheets to be inserted through the slot and into the dispensing aperture. This construction overcomes the previous problems of feeding a leading strip of the successive sheets in the dispensing aperture.

  • Patent number: 5358140
Abstract: An adhesive bandage dispensing system includes an elongated strand of individually sterile-wrapped adhesive bandages and a reusable dispenser for storing and dispensing the bandages. Each bandage is contained in a separate sterile compartment of an otherwise continuous wrapping material. Perforations formed in the wrapping material around each compartment allow the compartments to be individually opened. The strand is loaded into the dispenser, which is secured to a stable surface, so that the leading edge of the strand is frictionally held in biased guide flanges and protrudes from a dispensing opening defined by the flanges. The leading edge of the strand is pulled from the dispensing opening until an entire bandage is exposed, then the strand is pulled sharply to completely break the perforation, and the bandage can then be removed from the excess wrapping and prepared to be applied to a wound using both hands, if necessary.

  • Patent number: 5335811
Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a sheet of perforated paper towelling off a roll of paper towelling. The dispenser has a casing with a mounting for the roll in its upper portion and an outlet at the bottom. The outlet is substantially narrower than the width of the towelling. A roller is mounted in the casing for guiding the towelling from the roll mounting to the outlet. The roller maintains the towelling at its full width. The towelling is gathered inwardly in passing from the roller to the outlet. Upon pulling the towelling out of the dispenser, the towelling begins to tear inwardly from its edges along the first line of perforations as the first line of perforations passes over the roller to separate a sheet from the remainder of the towelling. The tearing operation is completed outside the casing leaving a tail end of towelling to be grasped during the next dispensing operation.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a plastic wall-mounted dispenser primarily for coreless rolled sheet material and in which the plastic material, typically polypropylene, from which the dispenser is made is somewhat yieldable under stress. The dispenser is mounted in cantilevered relationship to the wall and the weight of the dispenser and its contents and pressures exerted thereagainst by the act of dispensing sheet material therefrom causes stresses which tend to twist the dispenser and open the latches by which the base and cover sections of the dispenser are latched together. To rigidify the structure, the base portion of the dispenser is formed in the shape of a hollow truncated pyramid which gives it an inherently strong beam configuration. The cover portion may also be formed in part in the shape of a hollow truncated pyramid.
