Overcap Patents (Class 222/153.1)
  • Patent number: 6578573
Abstract: A device for releasing a gas to a respirator with a compressed gas cylinder (2), which contains the gas and has a metering valve (6). The metering valve (6) can be opened by pressure. The metering valve (6) has a tubular valve body (7) letting through the gas and has a collar (5) surrounding the valve body (7). A cylinder adapter has a locking mechanism (16) designed for fastening to the collar (5). The cylinder adapter (1) always remains associated with the corresponding compressed gas cylinder (2). This is accomplished by a predetermined breaking point with reduced strength properties being provided on the cylinder adapter (1). The breaking point is intended to destroy the locking mechanism (16) during the removal of the cylinder adapter (1) from the collar (5).

  • Publication number: 20030010793
Abstract: A child-proof dispending and/or closing device which includes a dosing head that can be operated for a dispending operation, and a carrier unit which is associated with the dosing head and which can be fastened to an outlet area of a storage container for the medium. The dosing head is held in at least one inactive blocking position with the help of at least one manually releasable locking means. According to the invention, two parts of the carrier unit have tooth systems corresponding with one another, which tooth systems are held in disengagement from one another by hold-back means and can be moved temporarily into engagement with one another against the hold-back force of the hold-back means for the purpose of releasing the one part from the storage container.

Abstract: A removable material hopper assembly for gravimetric batch blenders including a hopper, a metering assembly and a releasable securing assembly. The hopper is removable from the blender, and includes a metering slide gate that can be used to tightly seal off the bottom of the hopper during the removable operation. The releasable securing assembly incorporates a tongue and groove subassembly and a pin and bracket subassembly to properly align and secure the hopper to the blender during operation, but also enables easy removal of the hopper when necessary.

  • Patent number: 6330959
Abstract: A tamper evident closure for use on a container has a closure overcap shaped to fit onto a dispensing cap, the dispensing cap being shaped to fit onto the container. The closure overcap is connected to a tamper evident band by fragmentable webs, and the tamper evident band attaches to the dispensing cap, as described below, so that removal of the closure overcap requires the fragmentable webs to be broken, thus providing evidence of the access. The fragmentable webs are strong enough so that it is only easy to break the fragmentable webs one at a time. The dispensing cap includes an upwardly extending cam that functions to break the fragmentable webs one at a time when the closure overcap is twisted with respect to the dispensing cap.

  • Patent number: 6283338
Abstract: A valve (14) is connected to a fluid filled and pressurized container for discharging the fluid (15). A valve body (16) is fixed within a container lid (13). An ascending pipe (21) projects into the container and is connected to a discharge tube (18) which projects into the container lid. An atomizer cap (23) is engaged by a catch mechanism to the circumferential edge (28) of the container lid (13). The cap includes an atomizer nozzle (22) coupled to the discharge tube (18) and oriented approximately perpendicular to the long axis of the container. At the circumferential edge (28) of the container lid (13) there is formed at least one projection (32), which cooperates with a complementary recess on the inner circumferential surface of the atomizer cap (23) in order to achieve a rotationally stable fixation of the latter to the container lid (13), with the nozzle 22 located in accordance with the location of the end of pipe (21) within the container.

  • Patent number: 6253941
Abstract: An assembly for securing and sealing a dispenser to a flanged container is provided. The assembly includes a sealing collet formed from a resilient deformable molded polymeric material. The sealing collet has an outer surface having an outer diameter, and also has a continuous downwardly extending skirt having a bottom portion thereof extending radially outwardly. The assembly also includes a retaining collar formed from a substantially rigid material, which has a sleeve about its periphery having an inner surface with a diameter sized to encase the skirt of the sealing collet. The retaining collar is slideable through a path of movement over the sealing collet to an assembled position. The sleeve deforms the bottom portion of the skirt radially inwardly to a position under the flange as the retaining collar is slid to the assembled position in order to maintain the sealing collet and the retaining collar in the assembled position and to maintain the seal between the sealing collet and the flange.

  • Patent number: 6224922
Abstract: The invention is a specialty beverage container with a multiple colorant reservoir built into the cap 4. The colorant reservoir has a number of colorant chambers respectively for the colorants, such as primary colors red, yellow and blue, or others. The colorant reservoir 5 has a number of colorant chambers arrayed much like the sections of an orange, opening into a central cylindrical tube 7. Central cylindrical tube 7 is open into the main chamber 3 of the beverage container (bottle 1). The consumer purchases a bottle 1 filled with a neutral drink and with a colorizer cap 4. The consumer then proceeds to unlock the colorizer cap 4, select a color, and add colorant or colorants to achieve the desired hue and intensity. The consumer may then remove the colorant valve mechanism (or the entire colorizer cap) and drinks the beverage colored to his specifications.

  • Patent number: 6196423
Abstract: The present invention relates to an improvement for a child resistant overcap with safety collar for screw-on pump sprayers. The device includes a main closure base for attachment to a container, an outer ring, a spray mechanism attached to the base and an overcap. The overcap is child resistant and can only be removed when corresponding protrusions and cut outs are in alignment. The sprayer mechanism has an inside threaded sprayer neck and the container has an outside threaded container neck upon which the threaded sprayer neck is attached. The device relates to the improvement of providing a child-resistant safety feature of including a non-flexible ring collar attached to the outside of the sprayer neck and adapted to rotate about the sprayer neck to inhibit undesired unthreading or threading of the sprayer neck from or to the container neck.
