Patent number: 9156672Abstract: The system includes a spout and a portable handheld activator insertable around the spout. The spout includes a valve member made of a magnetically-conductive material. The valve member is movable between a closed position and an opened position so as to close or open a fluid passage inside the spout. The spout also includes a core plate made of a magnetically-conductive material. The activator includes a housing made of a magnetically-conductive material, and at least one coil located into the housing to selectively generate an electromagnetic field capable of moving the valve member to the opened position against a spring force biasing the valve member into the closed position. In use, the spout and the activator are configured and disposed so that the electromagnetic field, using only a relatively small amount of electrical energy, creates a substantially uninterrupted toric magnetic circuit for actuating the valve member.Type: GrantFiled: October 3, 2013Date of Patent: October 13, 2015Assignees: CONTROLES BVL LTEE, BO SYSTEMES INC.Inventors: Gilles Guerette, Robert Beaudoin

Patent number: 8444013Abstract: A food topping device for dispensing a food toppings. The food topping device includes a hopper that receives a food topping. The hopper directs the supply of the food topping onto the base plate of a discharge pan. The angle of the discharge pan relative to horizontal can be selectively adjusted. A vibration device is coupled to the discharge pan. When the vibration device is activated, the vibration of the discharge pan helps the food topping to overcome the angle of repose and flow down the base plate toward a discharge end. A screen positioned at the discharge end of the discharge pan further controls the flow of food topping from the device. The angle of the screen can be adjusted to control the discharge rate. A flow plate is positioned between the hopper and the discharge end to further control the amount of topping reaching the discharge end.Type: GrantFiled: July 30, 2010Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Axis Automation, LLCInventor: Ty Sarajian

Patent number: 8021037Abstract: An apparatus and method for mixing two components and delivering the mixture to a patient. The apparatus contains a mixing chamber for mixing a liquid component and a powder component. The liquid component and powder component are mixed within the mixing chamber by rotation of a collapsible mixing element. A high strength cartridge capable of withstanding high opposing axial loads from the mixing chamber and a threaded rod generates force to drive the curable material from the mixing chamber. A plunger connected to the rod is then advanced through the mixing chamber to force the mixture out of the mixing chamber and deliver the mixture to the patient.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 2007Date of Patent: September 20, 2011Assignee: CareFusion 2200, Inc.Inventors: John A. Patent number: 5441176Abstract: A volumetric measuring and dispensing apparatus for the dry measure of particulate matter such as sand, or gravel, which apparatus includes one of either (I.) a rotary table spaced slightly from a body having a stationary interrupted circular wall which defines a storage zone; or (II.) a stationary table spaced slightly from a rotating body having an interrupted circular wall which defines a storage zone. The storage zone includes a distally located gate, under which a predetermined amount of particulates can pass as one of the table or said body rotates relative to the other. The apparatus also includes a retention zone on the table outside of the gate for residual material. The particulates fall into a collection vessel such as a hopper or conveying belt. The contents of the storage zone may be replenished from a conventional feed hopper or manually.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1994Date of Patent: August 15, 1995Inventor: Paul Auee

Patent number: 4932785Abstract: This invention relates to an improved aggregate drying apparatus and method where the dried aggregate is particularly useful for making hot mix asphalt. In accordance with the system, heat typically lost in exhaust gases and moisture evaporated in a heater is recovered to dry and preheat the aggregate. The invention also relates to novel components used in the system, including an improved aggregate dryer and an improved mass flow apparatus for use in an aggregate dryer or otherwise in aggregate feed bins.Type: GrantFiled: June 21, 1988Date of Patent: June 12, 1990Inventor: Paul E. Patent number: 4913320Abstract: An apparatus comprises a vertically extending receiving hopper (1) having a guide funnel (2) in the bottom part thereof. A disk (3) having at least one discharge opening (4) is mounted between them. Above the discharge opening (4) is mounted a cut-off member (9) with a possibility of vertical and horizontal movement and has its surface extending in parallel with the disc (3) surface.Type: GrantFiled: May 31, 1988Date of Patent: April 3, 1990Inventors: Stanislav B. Patent number: 4779765Abstract: A dual air system for separately conveying fertilizer and seed in an implement such as an air drill or air seeder which includes an adjustable divider arrangement for providing a small amount of starter fertilizer to be placed with the seed. The total fertilizer metered by a fluted feed wheel is divided into two streams by an adjustable knife plate. A pivoting baffle plate resting against the knife plate deflects one of the two fertilizer portions to the fertilizer air system. The other fertilizer stream is delivered to the seed air system. The overall rate of fertilizer application may be adjusted without affecting the total amount of fertilizer provided to the seed air system.Type: GrantFiled: April 13, 1987Date of Patent: October 25, 1988Assignee: Deere & CompanyInventor: Lowell H. Patent number: 4316671Abstract: An apparatus for mixing solid particles and a liquid, especially wood chips and glue. A motor-driven stirrer in a cylinderical trough continuously mixes the materials which enter at one end of the trough and are discharged at the other end. The outlet of the trough has a pivotable throttle with a counterweight which controls the degree of opening of the throttle. An electrical signal related to the load on the stirrer motor is the control signal for a control loop whose final control element displaces the counterweight to maintain the electrical load of the drive motor approximately constant.Type: GrantFiled: May 28, 1980Date of Patent: February 23, 1982Assignee: Draiswerke GmbHInventors: Werner Christen, Helmut Muller

Patent number: 4108301Abstract: A material handling system for distributing granular solids from a single source to a plurality of distribution points in which a plurality of selectively adjustable leveling bars control the thickness of a layer of material on a conveyor, and a plurality of arcuate-shaped guide chutes divert the material from the conveyor to the plurality of distribution points. The guide chutes are positioned longitudinally along the sides of the conveyor and their lateral positions are selectively adjustable relative thereto. The cooperative relationship among the height of the leveling bars, the lateral position of the guide chutes, and the speed of the conveyor determines the amount of material diverted from the conveyor to the individual distribution points. According to an alternate arrangement a constant thickness of the material layer is maintained and the selective position of the guide chutes is used to control the amount of material diverted.Type: GrantFiled: November 12, 1976Date of Patent: August 22, 1978Assignee: Foster Wheeler Energy CorporationInventor: Norman Kenneth Trozzi
