The shaft is movable, on operation of the variable volume means to reduce the variable volume so as to pressurize gas in an interior of the variable volume means, from an initial storage position in which the first and second inlets are out of alignment so as to close a gas flow path, to a dispensing position in which the first and second inlets are brought into alignment by action of the housing against the sheathing means.

  • Patent number: 6851583
Abstract: A double-acting pump for ejecting a product from a container includes a piston which is axially slideable in a housing and is sealed by the housing. A hollow piston rod extends the axial bore of the piston and is slideable in a closing cap and has an actuating head, wherein, when the actuating head is actuated, the piston builds up a pressure in a pressure chamber against a restoring force of a spring. An outlet duct extends through the actuating head to an outlet opening. When subjected to the restoring force of the spring, the piston releases a passage between the pressure chamber and openings of a second housing portion. A medium which kills germs and bacteria is arranged in an expansion chamber. The dispensing stroke volume of the piston corresponds to the volume of a drop of the liquid.

Abstract: A dispenser for dispensing a fluid includes a rigid vial that has a main fluid chamber containing a fluid, and a pump assembly that is in fluid communication with the main fluid chamber and is configured to dispense a predetermined quantity of fluid from the main fluid chamber. A flexible bladder is provided which is located within the main fluid chamber and is configured to expand to fill the ullage created within the main fluid chamber during dispensing of fluid by the pump assembly. The resilient bladder tends to force itself outwardly toward the rigid vial and, in turn, increases the pressure within the main fluid chamber in comparison to the interior of the bladder to thereby prevent the ingress of air or vapors through the bladder or otherwise into the main fluid chamber.
