  • Patent number: 4437294
Abstract: Volume batcher for fluent materials, particularly suitable for high speed packaging machines of filter-bags for infusion products such as tea, camomile and similar which comprises a cylindrical drum provided with radial pockets rotating about an horizontal axis below a feed hopper of the product to make up. A filter paper strip is made adherent advance with the cylindrical surface of the drum closing said pockets from the top dead center to the bottom dead center from where it horizontally continues with the quantities of product on it to a packaging station. Said pockets have a volume variable structure by means of a cylinder shaped inside hollow piston member in communication with atmosphere and with at least the radially most outer head perforated.

  • Patent number: 4361176
Abstract: A soup dispenser is provided which will dispense liquid, semi-liquid and/or chunky soups, stews, chilis, etc., with equal facility. A motor-driven dial configuration of a plurality of measuring chambers or traps is provided at the bottom of a heated reservoir in which an impeller is constantly driven to preclude settling and scorching. The same motor drive is selectively interconnected to rotate the dial and successively register a measuring chamber with a discharge port beneath which a food container can be placed to receive the discharged product. The measuring chambers are vented to atmosphere as registry with the discharge opening is respectively effected to assure full discharge of the food products therein. A dial configuration further includes a plurality of selectively insertable strainer structures which are removably mounted flush with the upper surface of the dial over one or more of the measuring chambers to control the ratio of garnish to broth in each dispensed container of soup and the like.

  • Patent number: 4253591
Abstract: A mercury doser for automatically and accurately dosing arc tubes at high production rates comprises a rotatable stainless steel metering plate sandwiched between tetrafluoroethylene discs. The plate contains a graduated series of metering cavities of which one is selected. Mercury is fed by gravity into the selected cavity at a loading position where any trapped air or gas escapes through a vent port. The port is so small that surface tension prevents entry of the mercury. The plate is then advanced to an unloading position where a puff of argon gas expels the mercury charge into a delivery channel.

  • Patent number: 4212332
Abstract: The present pump has a manually operated actuator frictionally coupled to a floating valve to dispense liquid or other fluent product from a container. The floating valve coacts with the actuator and the pump housing to control:(1) the inlet flow of product from a dip tube in the container up into the pump;(2) the outlet flow of product from the pump to a discharge spout; and(3) the connection of an air vent opening to the inside of the container at the top at the proper time in each pumping cycle. The pump housing has a circular recess on the bottom for a snap fit on a complementary support bead, such as on the top lid of the container itself. A discharge selector valve on the discharge spout enables the selection of either a droplet spray discharge or a continuous flowing stream discharge from the pump. The pump actuator carries an end cap which may be removed for use as a scrub brush.

  • Patent number: 4174057
Abstract: A liquid measuring and dispensing device has a central flow tube sealingly surrounded by a measuring chamber slidable relative to the flow tube so as to bring respective ports in the flow tube and the chamber into register for filling and emptying the chamber through the two ends of the flow tube which form inflow and outflow ducts respectfully, and a shuttle valve within the flow tube and between the ducts and movable with the chamber to isolate the portion of the flow tube between its ports and thereby prevent direct flow along the flow tube between the ducts, the outside diameter of the flow tube surrounding the inlet duct being reduced in diameter so as to provide an air vent for the chamber during emptying.

  • Patent number: 4017031
Abstract: A miniature type, rechargeable atomizing spray mechanism including a receptacle for the liquid to be atomized, and further including a cap and axially aligned first and second pressure chambers, one of which depends within the receptacle while the other projects above the cap. A reciprocable spray head is arranged to cooperate with plural pistons, one each of which are slidably arranged in said first and second pressure chambers. Upper and lower valve members are available to control the emission of spray. The upper valve is maintained closed by a spring element, and the lower valve is opened by reciprocation of the spray head to permit withdrawal of the liquid from the container so that it may pass through a bore provided between the plural pistons and be emitted as a spray from the spray head.
